Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

My family is considering switching to Yacht Club from AOA suites first week of April but we have relatives who also want to meet us there. They are DVC but nothing open at BCV (last minute booking). I read that DVC are not allowed to pool hop to Stormalong Bay. Is there an option like paying for a Day guest so they can enjoy the pool with us? Otherwise we may be "stuck" at AOA (since they can find a room on points there...) TIA!

Day passes are not an option for Storm Along Bay.

I thought these threads got shut down at 250 pages?

:welcome: to the thread!

They used to. Since they switched over to the new servers over a year ago, there is no longer a limit to the length of threads here.

I consider starting up a new thread for a fresh start when I have the time, but that never seems to happen!

To counteract the complaint that the thread is too long to read through (valid point), I try to keep the first page of the thread updated with important information. Folks who read the first page, and the last few, utilize the search feature and ask any questions they have will hopefully find the info they are looking for.

Not complaining, just curious.

Keep up the good work! :)

Thank you for this :)

I've been MIA. Sorry Stormalong friends. I am booked for end of November at BC GV CL but I am not sure if DH and I are taking a trip or I am going to be like Dee (that should be a tee) Lots of rhymes ;) I might agree to chaperoning my DS15's WDW trip at that time....for now I've been changing away for summer. As of now, right, now I'll be at AKL CL in early August

I am having trouble keeping up, too- thus replying page by page.

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list for the November trip. I'll add you, as always, in erasable ink.

:cool1:

Oh, I want to hear all about your DS15's trip!!! Let's chat.

::yes::

Can you buy a half gallon of milk at the Beach Club? We are bringing cereal and such, just tough to pack milk!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

When is your trip?

:woohoo:

Yes, as posted below, you can purchase a half gallon of milk (whole, 1% or skim). Last price I saw was $3.50.

:thumbsup2

Just back from my first stay at BC, visiting my CM DD.

*snip*

Now on to Planning my next visit to see DD..... :tinker:

Thank you so much for your review.

Glad you had a nice stay and that you are already planning your next visit.

We have a trip booked for end of May at the Poly CL. However we can get the YC CL for just a bit cheaper. How is the YC CL, we have stayed CL 3 times at the BC.

I have only stayed BC CL (I'll be trying out YC CL in October). My understanding is that it is the same food offerings for both lounges, same management team. YC lounge was recently refurbed.

Please let us know if you switch over.

:goodvibes:

We just booked our next vacation! October 25th-29th @ BC! Can't wait!! :)

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

We had a minor change to our trip...we are now going to YC on May15th thru the 22nd. I am hoping for bit less crowded than my original April trip. I had to add 5 more weeks to my countdown.

Got it!

I'll adjust your info on the Be Our Guest list.

:thumbsup2

I'm not sure if I am on the correct board, but I was wondering if anybody had any insight or experience on race weekend traffic, specifically the Princess Half Marathon. We are checking into the Beach Club Villas on the 20th and have a pre-park breakfast at Crystal Palace on the 21st at 8am. I was just curious how any road closures would effect bus travel to the MK that morning. Also, do you know until what time the runners are usually going through the MK? I know the race starts early, but there are different waves.

I was planning on asking when we check in on Saturday, but was hoping to get some information in advance to see if we might have to rely on a taxi that morning to make transportation easier.

Although they couldn't use Storm Along Bay pool they are welcome at any of the three quiet pools. :)

Thank you! I was reading if your child wants to use a water slide but needs a life jacket you can ask to use BWI pool? Is this true? TIA

I don't have first hand experience with the Princess Half Marathon but have run the January half marathon for several years. The race starts at 5:30 with multiple waves going off in 3 to 5 minute increments from the first wave. Assume the last wave goes off at 6:20 AM. The last runner in that wave will most likely clear MK just around 8:00 AM. How I calculate that is the last runner crosses the start line at 6:25, must maintain a 16 minute mile pace, so that would mean a max of 1 hour 36 minutes to reach the mile 6 marker which is in Frontierland of MK. From there, they exit the park out the back down towards the GF

As far as your transportation options, that's really your choice but both Disney busss and taxi will have to follow the same route to MK. If you catch a bus at BC to MK around 7:15, the roads should be opening up as you make your way down world drive. Even if there were runners out there, they still have lanes of traffic open to MK.

Good luck!

The first corral of the half marathon starts at 5:30am, so the last corral will start about an hour later (so, let's say 6:30-6:35am). Runners are required to maintain a 16 min/mile pace or they will be swept, and they exit MK just after mile 6, so the last runners should leave MK at about 8:10-8:15am.

Unfortunately, I am no help on the bus system for early morning ADRs.

22 days until my trip to the yacht club! Curious about magic bands and alcohol, is there anyway to verify age or do you still need to carry around an id? (Thinking about poolside at hurricane Hannas)

:welcome:

I don't see you on the Be Our Guest list so I will add you for late Feb.

:cool1:

Only 12 days until we arrive at Yacht Club (and only 10 till we arrive at WDW!) :hyper:

I apologise if it has been asked before, but I've read that some resorts open their QS locations early for runDisney events. Will the Marketplace be opening early so we can use the toasters, microwaves etc? Trying to plan what I'm going to eat each morning!

You can request a microwave from housekeeping and it will be provided, free of charge, if there is one available. I really don't know how many there are.

:thumbsup2

Just booked our first Beach Club stay! I'm an AKL lover myself, but my husband wants us to branch out. It's just for 2 nights, a quick getaway weekend for my birthday and a great way to see if we like the resort! I'm excited :-) We decided against club level (sadly) because we have 2 signature dinners and never seem to get good use out of the lounge when we do sigs. That said the more I think about this the more I wonder if I need to just do it anyway. I just love CL so much!

Count me in for April 29-May 1!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Planning on going in June 2017! Have never thought of Yacht Club was an option, but now, we are incredibly excited for it! The rooms fit out 5 person group perfectly!

:welcome:

Glad to have you on board this thread. I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cheer2:

The link provided by www.wdwmagic.com shows a permit pulled for construction of "bus departure monitor shrouds" at BC/YC. The permit is dated about three weeks ago.

Thanks for sharing this info. Does that mean I won't have to go out to the bus stop before the sun rises so I can report when the early buses are coming?

Let us know if you make the switch.

Others have answered about access to SAB (no) and the quiet pools (yes) for non-resort guests.

I have never heard that about using the BWI pool. My understanding is that you can use a life jacket on the slides at SAB.

::yes::

Great questions, and I hope you get a few responses with helpful info.

I suspect a bus will be the best way to get around, since they will be well aware of the road closures and approved routes. I don't know if they will have more/less or the same number of early morning buses as they do on a regular day.

If you do take a taxi, please remember that taxis can only drop you off at the TTC or the Contemporary resort, so factor in some additional time to get from those points to the MK gates. The buses from the resorts will drop you directly at the MK gates.

Wow, you're good! No, I haven't posted here before, but I started reading this thread a few weeks ago since we (DW, DD, DS & me) will be staying at the YC CL next month (March 18-26). I was initially trying to get YC refurb info, but then I sort of got sucked into reading the various discussions here. This will be our second stay at the YC CL, and we are looking forward to it.

We were at the MK on marathon weekend, just last month, and traffic around the area was a mess. We were staying at the WL, so we were able to pass it all up by taking the boat, but we could see long lines of traffic on the road to MK. It was just stopped dead at times. We arrived at MK just after 9 am, long after the runners were gone and even at that hour the MK was an absolute ghost town. No one could get there. We finally saw the crowds after 10:30am. It took a while for everyone to make it in the gates.

I would seriously consider canceling that reservation. You will be hitting the MK at the same time that the runners are going through. Unless you can get there super early, like 7am, I wouldn't even try it. The traffic will be a nightmare at that time. :(
