Probably 10-11K for me as I have a plethora of routes along the river by my work that work out perfectly, plus I have just enough time to run and shower on my lunch break.QOTD: What is your favorite distance to run that is not a race?
QOTD: What is your favorite distance to run that is not a race?
ATTQOTD: I like 7 miles because it gives me enough time to clear my head and feel like I had a good workout. It's enough distance to get a lot of different types of workouts in and rarely last over an hour, so no need for water or special pre run meal of any sort.

QOTD: Anyone carry items not directly related to running? Protection from animals or people? Where did you get them?
ATTQOTD: At one point the popular running area was having a bit of a crime problem. Two guys would ride around and stop runners and take their phones. It's one of the reasons I started leaving my phone in my truck and use a GPS watch. The local running store did carry mace for those who wanted it.

I live in black bear country, so I used to carry bear spray. I see bear on my running trail a few times each season. When my last can passed its expiration date I tossed it and haven't replaced it. Not sure that it would help me anyway. Most of the times that I have seen bear on the trail, they have been momma bears with cubs. Don't think a momma bear is gonna let bear spray stop her if she thinks that I am a threat to her cubs. I have just learned to be vigilant.QOTD: Anyone carry items not directly related to running? I only have my phone when I run for music as well as my Apple Watch other than that I don't carry anything. I live in a pretty safe neighborhood which is where I run and I really only run during the day time so I think I am ok but you really never know.QOTD: Anyone carry items not directly related to running? They are almost always momma bears. You stay alert. If you see or hear a bear, you freeze, locate the cubs and momma, then slowly walk in a direction that takes you away from all. Whatever you do, you do not allow yourself to come between momma and cubs.So you have me curious, what do you do if you see a bear while you're running? Turn and run the other way? What if it is a momma bear?!?
