Hey guys! We are getting so excited about the cruise! It is less than 90 days away! I have a few questions y'all might be able to answer.
1. Stateroom Assignment: We fully paid for our trip when we booked GTY. This is our first time booking GTY, so does anyone have an idea about when we should find out our room assignment?
2. Dinner: We also didn't have a choice of dinnertime. Now we have our 2yr son (who normally has an 8pm bedtime) booked at second seating. Any tips for that? I really don't want to miss out on the amazing food. Do you know if we can have a "to-go" plate if we have to leave in the middle of dinner? It sounds silly, but that food is so good!
3. Scheduling: This is our 1st cruise with our son and we plan on taking it easy and being flexible for him. However, I would like to some time with my husband at the adult entertainment shows. Will we know anything about when the programs, stage shows, or deck parties take place before we get on the ship? I would like to book just a couple of hours for our son to be at the nursery. Has anyone else taken a toddler too young for the kid groups? Any tips for that too?
I see we have another 2yr old in this group. What are your family's plans? Any other families have tips? Thank you so much! Woo hoo! We can't wait!
1. I have no idea about room assignment, so I'm sorry there.
2. Dinner- We have a 1 year old girl and a 2 year old boy and went on a Disney Cruise back in August and were lucky enough to be switched to main seating last minute. Our kids' bedtime has been moved up since then and we are currently listed as second seating so we are in the same boat. To be honest-the iPad was our savior for the one night we took them to the rotating dinner. Every other night we ended up ordering room service for them to have dinner while we got ready and then took them to the nursery to play while we ate dinner in the restaurants. I hated being the parent bringing out the screen ut it SAVED us with our tired kids and they have a BLAST in the nursery. They didn't want to leave! They never said anything about a to-go plate but the kids' food on the Dream was brought out on a plastic Mickey shaped plate that I can imagine you can bring it all back to your room since they do room service and pick it up anyways?
3. Sadly, you don't/can't find out about any of the scheduled activities/times until you are on board except for what is listed on your itinerary online like the Sail Away party and the Pirate Party. There are 2 runnings of the shows every night. If you are listed as second seating then you can watch the show and then go to dinner. We didn't think that our kids would sit through the shows but they LOVED it! We tried to sit in the upper section, on and aisle seat so that we could make a quick escape if they quickly changed their minds. Just try to get there a little early for those seats. The show on the last night is SUPER crowded.
We have brunch on the first day at sea and parasailing in Castaway booked and that is it. We are going to try to do a lot more of the activities this time. Our kids are super excited about Christmas so we are hoping that they are up for all of the things that go along with it. Not to mention that they are obsessed with Frozen so this Frozen Deck Party that is supposed to happen will be the highlight of their young lives! And the deck parties can be fun but brutal so hold your little one! Adults can start pushing and are ruthless sometimes after drinking too much.
We are super excited about it and can't wait to meet everyone.
