Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

Now that the flights and the room are booked and the registration is taken care of...I feel awkward without having anything else to do for planning. I'm getting the idea that info comes out about RunDisney events much closer to the actual event date. So in the meatime, we just wait...? How in the world do you stay sane and not die of excitement? (Speaking as a first-time RunDisney participant, so that's probably newbie-blood talking)

I think we are supposed to train in the meantime :yay:

Isn't that what the forums are all about? You get to talk to all the people as equally excited about the events.

lol - too true on the training! Been doing my best so far. It's gets cold/nasty up here in the winter, so the DH and I signed up for a new community center that just opened up about 5 minutes from our house. Yay for an indoor track! Never trained for anything like this before.

And I'll agree with that, too! Love the fact that there are folks that are just a nerdily excited about this as I am. It's awesome.

Awesome,as much as I sweat I won't be doing any kind of elaborate costumes so these are right up my alley.

I've been doing some looking online, and man, talk about elaborate costumes. Some of the folks at the Disneyland Star Wars 1/2 just went all-out. I give props to those folks who can run dressed like Jabba the Hutt or a LEGO minifig, but I don't know how they do it.

Also, I'll throw in my comment, too (for what it's worth) that I'm upset the UA line doesn't have any womens options. But it is what it is, I suppose. Someday...

I could only find mens and boys items. Hey UA, GIRLS LIKE SW TOO!

I saw someone tweet a complaint to Under Amour about the lack of women's options (really, UA?!) in both the Star Wars and Avengers-type clothing lines, and UA DID say that women's cut stuff is coming eventually. No time table given.

Keep bugging them on social media and hopefully they'll listen!

There was women's cut stuff for the Avengers line. I saw it at the outlet here last year. That is why I was surprised not to see the Star Wars in women's sizes. I wonder if the Avengers line didn't sell very well. :-(

That's good to know because that's what bothers me about UA as well.

That would be unfortunate. :\ I just did a quick search on their website out of curiosity, and the only women's shirt that popped up in the Marvel/Alter Ego line was a Super Girl shirt. :(

So here's a question then - are there other sellers out there who cater to the female Star Wars runners/walkers? Maybe Etsy sellers? If someone has a recommendation, I'd love to hear them. Thank you in advance!

Hmm, now I am wondering if I was right. I have a Batman tee from UA that is women's cut, and I know that there were Superman, (or I guess Supergirl) logo wear for women, but maybe the Avengers tees were boys. They are sometimes mixed in the clearance. I bought a bunch of superhero stuff for my DD16 but she prefers the boys cuts.

On the Star Wars Dark Side Facebook page someone created a cool shirt that is selling in women's sizes as well specifically for the race/training. I believe it is on sale till November 7th and proceeds go to a charity for Children's brain tumors. Just an FYI if anyone is looking. Here is the link to the Facebook page. My DBF and I just signed up for the half. We did the Wine and Dine Half and Half last night and had so much fun that we wanted to come back! :)
I'm so glad to hear that! W&D was my first half 2 years ago and I was hooked. Welcome to the addiction! ;)

And I'm so glad to hear your positivity in contrast to a lot of complaints on social media. I understand and empathize with many folks' disappointment but given the lightning in the area (we were driving through it on our way home from WDW around 8pm and it was heading due north up central FL), it was the best decision. No one was going to be completely happy with any alteration to the itinerary, so make do with the situation you're given. Happy you had fun! :)

And :welcome:

Does anyone know if they announced which hotels will be host hotels or if all of them will be?
