Planning June 2016, any discount to be had?

I'm planning a birthday bash for my soon to be 16 yr old daughter and two of her friends for next June 4th-11th. Looking at the website the prices are higher than I remember. We're DVC member but wont have any points to use as we blew them on Hawaii this year, LOL! There is going to be six of us total.

What kind of deal can I expect to get during this time frame? How can we do this trip as cheaply as possible? Will two value rooms be cheaper than a family suite? We wanted to do the dining plan just so we don't have to make the girls hold back when ordering. We don't want to seem cheap. LOL Has anyone done a trip like this and how did you do it, if you don't mind tell me.

Thanks

Following. Not sure if we are going to do a May or June trip. We're usually January travelers, but the kids don't want to miss school this year. I'm not sure if the last week of May (Memorial day weekend) or first or second week June will be less crowded. (Im)patiently waiting to see what discounts, if any, are offered. Happy Planning!!

Has anyone found out when they will release discounts? What does anyone know about crowds after June 15th? We may be arriving that day. I know they say the earlier in June the better.

I have read about a pin people are getting in the email for May to June 7th. But I have not gotten one.

I got one in the mail yesterday. I'm afraid we won't get much if any use out of it though because we may have to travel a little past June 7th if my SIL's family goes with.

Is this going to be the official June 2016 code watch thread? I didn't see one started yet :)

In year's past discounts for like mid-June and beyond come out like late December/early January. On our last trip (June 2012) I called in March and had a Free Dining PIN under my name which was FABULOUS!! I'm hoping for good luck for June 2016 too!!

PS to address the OP, we've gone twice in June and there was always a discount of some sort through 6/15. I think they came out just after the first of the year. I think two values would be cheaper than the suite, but you can price it out to be sure. And if the suites only have one bathroom (I don't know if they do), definitely go with two values so you have two bathrooms!

We've not done the dining plan lately because it hasn't been a good value. We've paid OOP with gift cards or cc via Magic Band, so it's still the convenience of a swipe. However, in your case where you want them to be able to buy food freely, but don't necessarily want your cc attached to their bands, it's probably a good choice.

I dont know if it is the official June 2016 code watch thread. But we can make it that way lol.

I'll follow along and watch for June discounts! We will go about the 13, planning on 10 nights.

OP, I think your trip sounds fantastic. I don't think the kids will think you are cheap, lol, but I do think having the DP is a smart idea so there is no awkwardness with ordering.

So funny! I am doing the same thing with my daughter and some of her friends. It is her 16th birthday present as well. I will get two value rooms and am debating on the dining plan. I have never paid for the plan and have always gone during free dining but I think it will be so much easier of I get it. I am waiting to see what the discounts are and also how many snow days before I make my final decision as to when we go. It will either be mid-June or mid-August.

We took DD and 2 of her friends back in June of 2009 (we got some kind of package discount, maybe play stay and dine, I can't remember, but I do remember it knocked $1,000 off my bill) We stayed in the All Star Music Suite (it had 2 bathrooms. I wanted to keep an eye on them, they were only 15 and one was 14. We had the dining plan and they could do whatever they wanted in the park that we were in. I liked them having the dining plan so they could get a snack and lunch. We all met up and ate dinner together at a TS. They had so much fun. We also bought the Memory Maker (it was called something else back then) They took so many pictures. It was worth it to get that.

We (me, DH and DS) are going back next year early June, so I am also hoping for discounts.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you all turned this thread into the discount watching thread. My poor daughter keeps going back and forth trying to decide if she wants to take one friend or two. She thinks it might be awkward riding the rides with three people. I told her it was her decision. I think we might go ahead and purchase the dining plan just for the ease of it all. My husband said we could tell they have an amount that they can spend at each meal,(15.00 for cs, 25.00 for Ts, 5.00 for snacks)instead of the dining plan but I still find that awkward.LOL

Sometimes I just wish she would have chosen the sweet 16 party instead. LOL But she doesn't like to be the center of attention. Oh and I have never received a pin code in all the years we've been going. I should call and see if one is attached to our names.

Your post about the 1 or 2 friends has me sitting here happily reminiscing about a couple trips to DL I took as a teenager with two of my best friends. We simply switched up the sharing, it wasn't too big a deal for us (and it wasn't every ride we had to do it on). We took turns "riding with a stranger" (said in a dramatic voice) and that turned in to a game for us. We'd try to figure out in the queue who we'd be riding with and that was always fun. Sometimes it was a grandma, sometimes it was a dad or a little kid, every now and again one of us would score and sit next to a cute boy. Chance also swung the other way and we'd end up next to the last person we wanted to ride with, haha. I guess my point is that it could be fun for the girls, sort of an adventure. And the ride photos of your DD and her friends could be awesome with some planning:crazy:

I'll cross my fingers when you call there is a pin for you!

Just received mail today with offer that goes till June 7th. Typical Up to 30% off for Deluxe. If you didn't receive it yet, it may be worth calling and seeing if the offer is tied to your My Disney account.
