Official Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend 2016 Thread (Jan. 14-17, 2016)

I paid $330 all up for my flights. Fly out Thursday and Back on the Monday
great deal -- i was able to book our Jan flights at $950 R/T for our 3 tix but we fly out Tuesday and back Monday in and out of LAX

Did you run the Eastside 10K as your proof of time? Wasn't that horrible weather? yuck!

Yes was at the Eastside 10k, it was great to see a bunch of Star Wars Training tshirts at the run :)

I'm so happy with myself! I was able to get in all my RC training runs in on my 10 night WDW vacation despite the huge amounts of alcohol/food/walking done. Usually I'm not that good on vacation.

What I'm not excited for tomorrow is getting home to my scale and seeing what the weight gain was.

Yay great job!!!!!!!
So far I've been a good girl too and haven't missed any training runs! But the 3 miles I did yesterday after wine tasting in napa on Fri/Sat were probably the hardest ever lol!

Just got back from an ART appt for my knee. I'm hoping i'll be able to make it through the 6.5 this weekend.

I double checked my proof of time last night to make sure everything was good. Not sure if everyone knows this, but they added a confirmation page after you submit it. It suggests you print it for your records. It even tells you when your proof of time was last updated. I think this in response to the issue people had at the Disneyland Half where their submitted times magically changed. If you haven't taken a screenshot or printed your confirmation page, I would suggest doing it before the link gets take down. Today is the last day to submit a time.

Am I the only one who thinks that Disney is leaving money on the table by not having a line of REAL SW RUNNING CLOTHES/GEAR?? Wick away shirts, real running shorts, etc? I don't want to run in a costume or uncomfortable stuff, but would love SW themed gear. Grrr...

Or is it out there and I'm just missing it??

i was thinking the same, would love to buy some star wars themed running gear.

can someone recommend a couple of places to stay near Disneyland (other than Disney properties)...looking for something around $100/night (+/- a few more dollars). Last times I stayed at Marriott and Hilton. Hilton was nice because it was on the ART route (edit: stupid) for the weekend, but if I wanted to walk it then it was around a mile. Are any of the places right across from the bus drop-off point good?

For that budget I heard the Alpine Inn is good. It's hard because a lot of hotels in Anaheim are in the $200 range if they're less than a mile from property. That and Anaheim is just generally pricey.

I posted this over on the Tink thread so heres a copy and paste...These would all be over 100 a night though by now if they have availability. But all would be under 200 I think.

I've stayed at the Hojo on Harbor for races and been very happy with it. It is actually our go to hotel when traveling to Disneyland but part of the reason is the kiddie pool area and it doesnt sound like you'll need that. Its still a good hotel for the races. Its a hotel, not a motel, with interior corridors. Most properties around Harbor and Katella are motels. They have the most comfy beds in the world. Staff are nice. Parking is free. Mimi's restaurant is right next door. Its about a 8 minute walk to the Disneyland gates. a 20 minute walk to the corrals on race morning. A 30 minute walk back to the hotel after the race (security check point to the esplanade is open by then). They offer a runners discount if you call them directly.

I've also stayed at the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites and the Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini suites and would recommend both. They are both about a 5 minute walk to the parks as they are right by the cross walk to the parks.

I've heard great things about the Best Western Stovalls Inn on Katella. Its very close to the corrals. I'm trying it out in January for Star Wars.

A brand new Holiday Inn should be opening in December on Manchester. It would have a similar walk to Hojo's. Maybe a minute longer. Most hotels on Harbor and Katella are walking distance.

And I was at the Vancouver Rock and Roll 10K today and was great to see a whole bunch of Star Wars runners out in force. I had a very happy sub 1 hr run :)

I was there too. And for the half.

Did you see the "may the course be with you" shirt at the expo?

My face when Fantasmic won't be playing during Star Wars weekend! Oh well :(

This past January, we saw it and loved it but were sad to miss out on World of Color. We'll get to see the other show this time! This just means we have to race again in 2017 and see Fantasmic again

For DLH, we stayed at the Fairfield Inn on Harbor. I got our rooms for like $117/night, so it wasn't bad at all. Was about a 15 minute walk from the hotel to the start/finish line. I'd stay there again - but after five days, the walk go to be kind of a beating, so just be aware of that.
