Official 2016 5th Anniversary Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Hello! This will be my first Disney Race and I couldn't be more excited :tinker:
I actually had one question regarding the 10k, how is corral placement determined? Is it like the half marathon or a first come first serve at registration?
I've never done a 10k outside of the challenge. But I think the proof of time link is only for the half marathon/challenge. For the 10k, they place you according to the pace you select when you register (I think). If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. Website says: "Proof of time is not required for the 5K and 10K races."

Yes, when I registered myself and my daughter, they asked for your expected pace per mile. I can't remember all the breakdowns but they appeared to be by minute or so -- I think I put down an expected 10:01-11:00 minute/mile for each of us. So my guess would certainly be that they are taking your expected time, be it the estimation you provided or proof of time if doing the challenge, and will corral you based on people with similar paces.

has corral A always been a women only corral or was it changed in 2015 woman's only corral?

Thanks in advance

I bought discounted tickets through a travel agency for Disneyland Half weekend not knowing I'd be doing this race and Princess...hoping they'll let me put the ticket I already have toward a premier annual pass.
Wanted to give an update on this. To recap: I had 2 vouchers for 3 different tickets: one for a 5-day hopper and one for two 4-day hoppers (one for me, one for husband to use in December). I took both vouchers with me hoping that I could put both of my tickets toward an AP...

...and I COULD! They actually were able to take all 3 hoppers (the 5-day and the two 4-days) and put them toward a Premier AP. They said that I could do this since the vouchers did not have any names attached to them yet - they just looked up how much I had paid for each voucher and then treated them like cash. I ended up paying an additional ~$250 to get the AP. YAY! :)
We will not discuss how as I was registering the computer went haywire and by the time things were fixed the price went up. :crazy2: Oh well at least it wasn't a huge amount. I do have a question about the merchandise ordering. I am thinking I want to purchase a couple of items but I am not sure. Is there a way to go back and order things if I change my mind? Also if I purchase it and don't like it when I see it at the expo I can return it right?

I am decidedly signing up for the half! I am terrified and it is several months away. :sad:I figure if this doesn't motivate me to train nothing will. Its amazing the lengths I go to in order to visit DL! :rolleyes1

Yes, we were able to return stuff at the expo. I returned my pre-purchased Dooney & Bourke bag and re-bought it to apply an AP discount (I did not get the Active.com fees back for that)...on the flip side my BFF, who did not pre-order a jacket, was able to buy one since (I assume) people returned theirs or did not pick them up.

I think it's always been like this - it's the same for Princess too.

Has anyone looked at the runDisney page recently? Both the Half and the Challenge are not sold out (52% and 97%, respectively). Crazy! I'm tempted to see if I could swap my Half registration and go for the challenge to keep the streak alive, but then I remember that I should be saving the money for my trip to WDW for Wine & Dine.

I do keep peeking at it! Its a tough decision! If you have the funds you should do it but if you really do need those funds for Wine and Dine then I'd stick to just the half for this year.

I'm definitely going to keep to the half. Not only because of the money, but I think my body needs a break from the challenges for a little while. As much as I love walking home with those extra medals, I think it's probably the best idea at the moment. But still, oh so tempting!

I'm registered for the Half Marathon. It's my first half marathon and first race at Disneyland!

At this point, it's a solo event for me. I'm not a fan of Mother's Day for personal reasons... so this was an awesome gift from my husband. He'll be flying with me to California and I'm sure we'll visit the parks together at some point after the race, but he said "HECK NO!" to running it with me. I may have a friend or cousin to join up with, but nothing solid yet... .

I'm BEYOND excited!:tinker:

Ugh so as a beginner i am trying to train to be ready for the 10k since that is actually a long way for me rite now but i have had previous knee surgeries and im having a lot of issues with it rite now that is preventing me from doin anything. Any advice for how to get some exercise in or pain relief tips?

Since hubs and I are running our first 10K with this race, I was curious about the cheer squad and/or having friends/family cheer us on. Can someone answer the following questions for me:

1) Does purchasing cheer squad access work for the 10K or is it just the half marathon?
2) Are there places that family can stand for free to cheer? Maybe at downtown disney or between parks?
3) Any other recommendations?

We are not runners by any means and we're trying to get friends and family there to cheer us on so we can have that motivation to keep going. :)

I have no experience with cheer squad but there are places that people can stand for free to cheer. Downtown Disney is one of them as is the esplanade. Theres lots of areas out on the streets of Anaheim as well. Depending what hotel you're staying at you may even run by your hotel!

Just submitted and printed mine - I've read stories about people having their submitted times mysteriously changed before proof of time closes, so having the printout is good insurance. I'm also going to make sure to re-check mine before submission closes. :)

If I submit proof of time now, can I update it later if I get a better time before the deadline? I think the answer is yes but wanted to check.
