Disney Wonder Panama Canal May 01, 2016

Just found this thread. This will be our 4th transit of the canal for us, aboard the Wonder. We had to take this one to even out the score of one WB to two EB cruises!

:welcome: so glad you are joining us. Which EB's were you on? We did the Sept 2013.

For East bounds we did the "Hurricane Avoidance Cruise - 2014", which set the record for the most days at sea without making port for a Disney ship - Sept 2014. The second EB is coming up in a few weeks.
For WB, it was May 2013.

We cruised in October of last year and did the Southern on the Magic. We did a little hurricane avoidance on that cruise also, but we were able to make all our ports just in a totally different order.

We are interested in touring the USS Midway after we leave the ship and before we fly home from San Diego. Does anyone have any tips for what to do with our luggage for the few hours we are in the museum?

Does anyone know if they still allow you to send 2 items per cabin to be signed by the characters?

I just found this group. This will be our second Disney Cruise and we are soooo excited! The last one was the best family vacation we have had. We are Florida residents and go to Disney World all the time - which is fun - but you really don't get the real family connection like you do on the cruise. We will be travelling over my husbands birthday - May 7th the day we go through the canal. We will be bringing our 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter. I hear there are not as many kids on the Panama Canal cruises. I saw the fish extenders on the last cruise and would love to be involved with that. Please let me know how.

Hi Everyone

Im trying very hard to convince my wife to do this cruise. Can I ask for some help. Any and all great reasons why this cruise is a good choice. Obviously the whole canal thing is a big selling point, so are there other gems that I can use to win her over?

Also I need to reduce her concerns about the 4 days at sea. We did the transatlantic a few years back and she really didnt like being at sea for so long. Is there anything I can say to reduce that? For instance, can you see the coastline for some or all of those days?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Matthew

I LOVE the longer cruises. I think there is actually more to do. But I also liked the fact that I could lay back and not feel like I missed anything as there are so many days.

Days at sea were my absolute favorite. Sleep if I wanted. Get up early if I wanted. Sit outside. Sit inside. Basically whatever I wanted to do when I wanted.

Lots of events are planned too!

Hello all! I just book this cruise a few days ago and found the thread finally. This will be our honeymoon trip!! My soon to be wife has no idea what we are going to do for it.

We did a Alaska cruise last year and we loved it. She really liked the couple sea days we had and this one has a bunch.

I look forward to meeting everyone onboard !

I have been trying to figure out what goes on all the extra days since it isn't really posted on DCL's website. Are there extra shows or deck parties?

The airport is not far from the midway. I would do an early checkin and take a cab back to the midway. :)

To reassure if its being out at sea that concerned her, this cruise does stay close to the coast. On the four sea days in a row you will see coast for part of the first day and all of the following sea days. I think the only day the entire cruise I did not see coastline for the entire day was the second sea day after Cozumel and before Columbia.

Kiwi Matt -
I too was concerned about the amount of sea days back to back. However, I found them great - you can see coastline for a lot of it and the beautiful BLUE water was so lovely to gaze into. :)

By the way - by your login name, are you from New Zealand? If so - we would love to catch up on the ship - we come from New Zealand :) and will be the jetlagged ones on the ship :)

Over 18 hours of flying to cruise with the mouse- thats how disney mad I am :)

Thank you so much. I will use that to convince her!

Hi There. Yes indeed I am from NZ. We live in Virginia, US now so not as far to travel for all things Disney. If I can get us on the cruise (looking good at this stage!!) we will definitely have to catch up.
