Official 2015 Quick Service Meal Substitutions *Post Here*

No, I didn't have to wait until the snack credits were gone before substituting. I just told the cashier that I wanted to use a qs credit for these 3 items when I got to the register. Back home today but we did substitute all over the place until the end of our trip. We even used a qs credit for 2 Plaza sundaes and a float yesterday at the MK ice cream parlor. Se went to the Intermission food court (staying at ASMU) in the evening to use up our leftover credits since we had to leave before 6am this morning and we left with 25 snack items since we had 4 snack credits and 7 qs meal credits left (family of 6 with picky eaters...) :rolleyes1

And to reply to people wondering about double substitutions, especially at the food court with the refillable mug, yes, you can get 2 snacks with your entree instead of the drink /dessert combination. We did that a few times : meal with candy and chips, meal with cheetos and boxed cookies, meal with 2 chips, meal with 2 bottles of water for the parks later (only one bottle with breakfast though) :)
wow that is really something I was hopping t ty for the feedback

I substituted onion rings for a dessert at Flame Tree BBQ today. I wanted to substitute the drink for a side order of fries as well, but the cashier wouldn't let me. She said I could substitute the drink or the dessert but not both. Then she asked another cashier who agreed with her. So I asked if she would just punch in the ribs, the fries and the onion rings cause I was sure it would come off as one quick service meal, but she refused and said it wasn't allowed.

I definitely agree with you. The current QS DDP brochure doesn't say one or the other can be substituted. Both the non-alcoholic beverage and the dessert have an * next to it with the * saying "May be substituted for any item that is an eligible snack at the location."

When I was checking out at a counter service location I would let the cashier know which credit I was using. I was also able to swap a drink for a snack at cosmic rays. So had no problems swapping credits anywhere at Magic Kingdom.

But today at Captain Cooks I was not able to swap the drink at breakfast for anything other than another drink. I spoke to the captain cooks manager and she stated they are not able to do this. I let her know that I was able to at the Magic Kingdom and that going forward it will be an option but she did not back down. She said she would this one time but that wasn't my point. So I would say it is a no-go at the poly for now.

Now, I am a rule follower of the first kind, but what is really irritating me is that the 2015 Disney Dining Plan Official brochure states a Quick Service credit for breakfast includes: Entree; *Non-Alcoholic Beverage. *May be substituted for any item that is an eligible snack at the location.

So the Manager saying they are not able to do it in 2015 is just plain WRONG!! :sad2: Could the issue be they don't have any other snack option available during breakfast? I don't know; I haven't had breakfast there.

This is actually making me rethink the DDP. We got in once and it wasn't worth it for us, but maybe it is now. I can't have sugar, so they did let me swap a dessert for fruit or chips in the past, but I also don't drink soda or lemonade or really anything except water. We are going to F & W in October and this. Any end up working for us! Looking forward to hearing more experiences.

Thanks to all for the positive news! Keep it coming (both good and bad)! Hoping we have such good luck with substitutions later this month.

I asked at BOG (lunch) today if I could swap out my drinks for the soup. They said no.
But they confirmed that desserts could be swapped out for the soup, which I already knew, since I've done it before, but at least it's good that they sound consistent with that rule though.

I have a question to ask about the changes. Does anybody know if a QS credit can be used towards 3 snacks at the F&W?

We won't know until someone tries it. Originally, the thought was it would not work since the booths don't take QS credits, but that might not matter. Just remember, you have to get the 3 snacks at the same booth at the same time.

You may want to go through the menus and do some math anyway. I thought the same thing as you as we prefer water with a soda or coffee thrown in here and there, and two of our four never eat dessert. I wanted to see how it would work for us, so went through the menus and found that even with the substitutions for something we would actually eat, we were still barely breaking even on the plan. It might save us $10-20 overall. However, it was still more food than we would normally eat. When I went back through and "ordered" what we would eat instead of using the plan entitlements, we could actually save enough to eat at all the QS AND at least two TS for the same amount the plan would cost us.

Then they need to change the brochure language because it states that a QS beverage *May be substituted for any item that is an eligible snack at the location.

Apparently, this has become my mission in life . . . to make Disney follow their own written rules. :D

I also believe the CM at Captain Cook was wrong. Since we used the substitutions a lot during our trip, I got to see what was "punched in" on the register so I was also able to gently direct them when the cashier didn't know how to do this (3 snacks for a qs meal credit) by telling them they needed to use the "DDP Combo" option on their register. And I do believe ALL the registers have that option since we used it at Maestro Mickey, which is a store and didn't use to have a qs meal option, but even they have the "DDP Combo" on their register now! :thumbsup2

We were at Rafiki's Planet Watch today and we wanted to use three snacks as a quick service credit, but they were unable to. The cashier said, most, but not all cash registers are set up to do this.

That's what I've done in the past and I'm pretty sure it's not good for us, but willing to price it out with the new changes. Before it was just ridiculous, but now it may be worth at least researching it. If it's close, I may be willing to try again! Guess it would also depend on 1 QS for 3 snacks at F & W.

Would I be able to order this at Columbia Harbor House?
Chicken Pot Pie
Lemonade Slush (snack credit)
Clam Chowder (snack credit)

Yes. You should be able to order that. I believe the lemonade slush is considered a drink, so you would just be subbing out the cobbler for the clam chowder.

I got two large caramel popcorn and a peanut caramel apple (3 snacks) as a quick service meal today at Karamel Kuche.

I am following for this answer.
We had 8 QS meals left over last year. Want to make sure that doesn't happen again.. We snack more :)

Just back from our trip. We had no trouble at all substituting sides for the dessert at our resort food court - POFQ - and all of the other QS locations we went to. I was able to have the chicken gumbo with my Po boy. Yum! We also were able to substitute soup for dessert at Columbia Harbor House, fruit salad at Riverside Mill and bottles of water at Catalina Eddie's and Flame Tree BBQ. At POFQ, once I had 3 sides instead of one CS - 2 orders of beignets and a yogurt parfait. The only TS restaurant we asked and were told no was Be Our Guest. I wanted dessert anyway, so it was fine with us.
