Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

Kudu trail may be a long walk from the lobby, but with a standard room you would likely have a view of the people pen (if you have to make an emergency exit from the hotel onto the Savanah you are in a cage of sorts to stay away from the animals. )
So you get a partial Savanah view.

Would you say it's best NOT to request a Kudu Trail room? I'm torn because it seems we could get somewhat of a Savannah View but if it is a really long walk from the lobby then I'm not sure I want that either. Thanks.

Does anyone have a detail of how the buses work and time it takes to get to the parks? Do they share buses?

Anyone have any idea what the chances are of requesting and getting a room with a King bed? My parents are considering joining us last minute but my Dad is picky and wants a King.:rolleyes1
I know it's not a bookable category, but... is it likely they would get their request? Or would they need some serious pixie dust?

They would book a standard view room, if that makes any difference. Thoughts?

I am wondering this as well? As another picky person ;) I would prefer a king bed over all other requests for a standard view room, but it doesn't seem like an option to request in online check-in...

It's nearly impossible to rate your chances as it is 100% dependent on occupancy and how many other guests also requested a king. Nobody but the resort will know what these 2 factors are. It it's important I would make a King room the only request on your parents reservation.

This is why I always suggest calling and adding your requests to your reservation. The options during online check in are predetermined and very limited. They never reflect what we like to request so I always call. This can be done any time from the day you book up until 5-6 days prior to your arrival.

Thanks! Will definitely do this.

Expert opinions please :goodvibes

Currently have a standard/pool view studio villa booked at Jambo on a cash reservation through Disney but have been thinking of switching to either a savanna view studio villa (unsure of which savanna this would be a view of) OR a regular "Arusha View" room.

This is for 1 night only, 2 adults/1 child (6). Spending the morning at AK but the rest of the day will be spent enjoying the resort and swimming. We plan to eat lunch at Mara and have an ADR at Boma for dinner.

The reason I originally booked the pool view studio was to be super close to the lobby and pool but since we're only staying 1 night, a fantastic savanna view has become more of a priority than location to the lobby.

Thoughts and opinions appreciated

:thanks:

What online request would you suggest making with a pool view room?
We are currently in a pool view room. I chose upper floor and near elevator for online checkin. I also used Touring plans fax service to make a more specific request and got the room right next to the one I requested. I love our view and location and would suggest rooms 3018/3020/3022. I will post a room view photo when we return.

For anyone who wonders, AKL does read the faxes though they do not enter specific info into the system. So when checking in, front desk will not see notes from fax but they are read and taken into account by room assigners. I asked.

My family will be staying here in December (switched from Beach Club). I know some of the resorts do movies by the pool/beach at night. Does AKL do this at all and if so do they tend to play Christmas movies in December? Thought it might be a nice way to unwind at the end of the day.

Hi, thanks for the tips. I'am singed up with TP and almost missed that feature. How long before check in did you fax?
Enjoy your trip.

Make sure you have your touring plans dashboard set up (with room requested and fax details updated) at least 7 days before your trip. TP faxes your request for you about 5 days prior to check in.

Does the AKL have a splash pad/splash area for toddlers? I can't see one on the map or any website descriptions. Thanks!

Yes, they do. My son (9 yo) spent all his pool time playing there with kids of all ages. The giant bucket that dumps water, spray guns, slides, water shooting from the ground, etc. it was great.

Just to clarify I believe the cool splash pad is at kidani village. Pool hopping is allowed between Jumbo House and kidani village.

My plans have slightly changed. We are now at All Star Music from October 1st to 8th and at Kidani Village for one night on October 8th.
