I'm so glad this thread exists. I've already committed to riding SM in September and to be honest I'm nervous. This thread has helped though.

My last 3 trips I've chickened out. The last few trips I've made it on Space, ToT and BTMRR. 7DMT wasn't open yet.

Still working up the nerve to try ER and RnRC. Probably not on this trip. Hated Space and will never set foot on ToT again. I dispise drops. But I loved BTMRR and I'm expecting the same from 7DMT.

Maybe we'll see each other there :D I honestly think 7DMT is the mildest of all the rides you mentioned, so you should have no problem. I've never seen anyone not enjoy it or be afraid, even small children. We've ridden it quite a few times.

Holy cow 48 people rated this with 7DMT and BTMRR. There is really only the one drop and it's not even a huge drop. I said it's on par with Dumbo but honestly it's probably only slightly more thrilling than Maelstrom (bigger drop). One little thrill and the rest is just floating, floating SLOW, like you could walk faster. LOL

Like this post if you've ever thought the part of the ride vehicle on Splash behind the lap bar is the actual lap bar and tried to pull that down (I always do that for some reason)

I did it once 10 years ago...never again.

I don't do drops, loops, or upside downs.

However, I do LOVE Space, Thunder, Test Track, Kali, and Everest!!!!!!

Figure that out...lol

It must've been a pretty small drop, because I don't even remember Maelstrom having a drop. :) I guess it's different things to different people, but even though it's only one thrill, it looks like a pretty good one (and sounds like it from the screams). What it feels like, I'll be finding out on this trip.

Looking forward to trying Kali this year. It's always been our last priority, mainly because I hate getting soaked or it was just too cold.

The Maelstrom drop is comparable to POTC.

Yep Maelstrom had the one small fast drop. splash has the one medium but fast drop. Actually I think Splash may have one other really small drop...

Either way, Splash except for the one fast drop is super slow and relaxing with no fast curves or quick up and down sections like BTMRR or 7DMT. Which is what surprised me about people comparing it to them.

I thought that first "drop" in POTC was scarier.. For first time riders.... turns out it was nothin. It's more the split second before not knowing how bad..

There's a couple smaller drops and I can see the anxiety of thinking it's the big one building up. Personally, I can't ride the back of the "boat" on splash, it always wigs me out on how it pivots just before the big drop. Makes me feel like i'm getting flung out of the seat. Otherwise it's a rather tame ride. Surprisingly, a friend with a really bad back (7 slipped discs, legally disabled from it), loves the ride. it's really gentle on your body.

I've been on POTC right after they fill it back up. The water level was high enough that on the drop I got a lot more wet than splash ever did.

I think it's more the suspense leading up to the big drop that gives it more of that "thrill factor". If you're a first time rider, you know the drop is coming... you just don't know when.
And even after a several year hiatus, I forgot when the drop was coming. So it definitely gave me that ride anxiety that I find so exhilarating!

Wow! Had no idea that anyone was afraid of Splash. I understand phobias, so maybe that is it, but there is no reason beyond uncontrollable phobias to be afraid of this ride.

My daughter was scared of Splash when she rode at 5 years old. At that time she was scared of water and thought we were going to go under water.

As a plus size girl I can tell you it's no problem at all. It's one of our favorite rides. Also, if you can handle ToT, this is no problem at all.

I have never rode splash. I am a ride chicken. I have rode Maelstrom (loved it) and POC all the time. I rode BTMRR years ago and didn't like it at all. I screamed the whole time, it was so fast. I felt shaky after I got off of it. I really would love to ride splash. I would love to see the rest of the ride but am just scared of the big drop. It looks like such a great ride. I really want to ride it but am anxious about it.

You can watch entire ride-through videos on youtube. I love coasters and have always felt it was a tame kiddie ride and not worth the wet shoes, but my kiddo has mild SPD and while she would love the little thrill, if she happened to get splashed on her face it would be a DISASTER. So for sure we skip it.
