C'mon Disney

Read: "Announcing yet another year that we're not investing in our parks and resorts, but we are raising prices again! Once again you can enjoy the 1980s hit Captain EO in uhh...Future World!"

Nice work Iger, you're really killing it! Seriously, I regret buying an annual pass so much, nicely done!

I went to see it on Sunday (it was indoors and air conditioned) and the theater was surprisingly full (after all, it was indoors and air conditioned).

Y'all do know there are 7 billion people around the earth that haven't seen this. Disney isn't just for us vets. New people hit the parks everyday. Maybe we should ditch Space Mountain too. Flame encouraged.

I started a thread about the absurdity of Captain EO returning recently and mostly got the same reactions. 90% saying get rid of it - worst thing in the parks :sad2: and 10% saying we love it, it's nostalgic, and not everyone has seen it! :worship:

Don't get me wrong. I really love the music of Michael Jackson. I really do. But I don't love this.

I think the 10%ers might be from the "Disney Army" that was mentioned on the DIS about a month ago. :rolleyes1

Look on the bright side. Maybe this will fool a lot of people into thinking they need an FP for it and that will free up more FP's for some of the most coveted of Epcot attractions. Like Nemo. Or Figment.

I'm sure their are that many people on this earth that haven't seen a man wear spats, watched Archie Bunker, or did the nuclear bomb preparation class that they used to make us do in school (lean against wall, hands over head, Yep the nukes wont hurt you that way), but I don't think we should still keep doing it just for them.

I bet you are spot-on.

Do you mean you may finally be able to FastPass Nemo or Figment? Holy crap, that's awesome! Now it may take even less time to walk from the entrance right up to the ride car! WOOHOO! :moped:

I couldn't agree more. I was disappointed and shocked that they were promoting it. I would much rather watch Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

They should show old Disney cartoons in there. Just keep them playing continuously it's a nice break to sit in A/C.

YES!! Disney has more material to mine than probably any other movie company in existence. Show Silly Symphonies! Show Fantasia!

But don't count on that being true in the future. As FP+ pushes more people to these under-utilized rides (as its designed to do), they will no longer be under-utilized, so having a FP for it may indeed be preferable to waiting in SB.

My 19 year old son suggested that Disney play their feature length movies somewhere. He said he would love to watch them at Disney. He suggested EO theater and the little One Man's Dream theater. I don't know about the logistics, but I would take them up on a movie.

I also like the animated cartoon idea.

Many (MANY) years ago, the Contemporary Resort had a game room with a few bowling lanes and a small theater that showed classics like Snow White. This was pre-VCR (kids, ask your grandparents) days, when you could only see these Disney classics on the rare occasions that they were re-released in theaters. I was too young to remember the 1967 re-release and it wasn't in theaters again until 1975, so the first time I saw Snow White was actually at WDW.

Is Disney so desperate to attract guest to EPCOT that they have now resorted to advertising EO? Haven't they got a new cupcake to talk about instead? To me, it seems like Disney is reminding their guests on a daily basis that there is nothing new or great to see at EPCOT. The FP+ selections further reinforce this notion.

The Disney Insider e-mail is sent to mostly repeat WDW visitors, so it's not like Disney is trying to attract newbies to EO. Maybe it was intended to remind WDW veterans that there is an air conditioned theater where people can go to relax and take a nap.

Lol at a new cupcake to promote!

I have a few people I know who love MJ and dance and they love EO. Myself, I was completely captured by the Tomorrowland preshow they had. Never saw Inside Out there cuz we knew we would just go see it.

It is a bit silly to send out that marketing email, I got it too. Someone mentioned the fun classic cartoons. On the new DCLs, they had hundreds on demand you could watch in your stateroom (and basically any movie they made including to my husband's delight, Flight of the Navigator.) We were thoroughly entertained while we got ready for dinner or chilaxed in the afternoon. The classic were extremely funny, Mickey and Donald both a bit hot head. Anyway it would b neat to see that go up in the theater, but it probably never will, because they are getting rid of things that aren't 'rides' or 'exciting' of sorts including One Man's Dream etc. Sadly most would probably by pass it anyway if they did. I'm not sure I'd stop to watch BingBong either, that's all a bit depressing.... Frankly I think all the 3D movies need some assistance. I LOVE Philharmagic but its getting pretty blurry too. Muppets well quality not too bad but not really into the cartoon substances sort of lacking but I hear they will get a redo. Poor EO theater with an identity crises!

But they did just release a ton of extra charge activities for Food and Wine.......

http://www.wdwmagic.com/events/inte...pcot-international-food-and-wine-festival.htm

They really should rename this event to something like "the bumbly stumbly give us more money party", it's far more fitting to the event. Flower and Garden wasn't much better, every time I walk through world showcase it reminds me of pleasure island. My kids don't like Epcot at all, "too many drunk people, we don't like to be around that" were the words they used.
