January 18, 2016 Disney Dream

Hello! My family (me, husband, son 8 and daughter 6) as well as my in-laws are looking forward to our 2nd Disney Cruise in January. The cruise is a surprise for the kiddos. They won't find out until we arrive at the ship!! Just starting to hear about the fish extenders and I am very interested in joining a group. Does anyone know if one has been started yet. I think it is a great idea.

Hey guys!!
So excited to be sailing on the Disney Dream next January! This will be my third Disney Cruise (the first two were 7-day cruises aboard the Fantasy). I have participated in fish extender/DisBoard groups in the past and wanted to see if anyone was planning anything. If we don't do fish extenders, maybe we could just plan a meet and greet? Either way, I'm looking forward to our cruise and can't wait to meet some new Disney friends! My boyfriend and I will be celebrating his birthday this cruise. Super excited! If you have any cruise-related questions I'll be willing to help too!

It seems like we have a pretty small group, although I'm sure it will get larger as we get closer to our sail away date. I am willing to start a list for FE. I can't guarantee I will be on top of it all the time and I've never organised it before but I'll give it a go. I'll think what I need is stateroom numbers, people travelling in party (Adults/Kids). I also just want to put it out there that I don't go all out crazy with personalised gifts etc. I have seen some debates here on the DIS where people complain about what they spend in comparison to others and about getting dollar store junk etc. I'm not in it for "gifts" I'm in it for a little fun and because my kids really enjoy it. I have in the past given candy unique to Australia and Aussie souvenirs like shot glasses, little koalas, keyrings, pencils etc.

I have tagged everyone that has shown interest in participating in Fish Extenders. Please confirm your participation and let me know the details of your party. If anyone wants to join just let me know either on this thread or via PM. I will be making a cut off time for participants to allow people time to make/purchase their gifts. Is it too late to join?? I think my kids would have a great time delivering little items to rooms :)
We just booked our 4-night cruise on the Disney Dream to Bahamas, leaving January 18th.

We are about to book this... I was deciding between this one and a three night (which we did in 2013). However, my son is out of school two days for MLK Holiday, so it's the perfect time to go for us. Can't wait! Hopefully I will have everything booked by tomorrow. It will be myself, my son (6), my mom and my dad.

Hi Karen,

You need to have a certain amount of posts first, maybe 10? Then click on my profile picture and theres a tab that says start a conversation.

We just booked this cruise! We are long time Disney fans, but have never done a cruise. I'm interested in doing the Fish Extenders, but I had a couple questions. Do we exchange gifts with everyone else who wants to do it or do we just have one other family we exchange with? Or do we just exchange with like 3 other families. Thanks.

Happy Birthday to ME, Happy Birthday to ME, Happy Birthday dear RMEDAD, Happy Birthday to ME! Wish I could be there!

This is my first time on a Disney Cruise, doing fish extenders, all of it! From what I've read, we can basically set up our own rules. The most common method, though, seems to be capping the group at a certain number (no more than 20 families, for example) and giving gifts to all of them. Some groups only do kids, some do one gift for the whole family, or one for each family member. That's where we need to come up with rules for this group!

Hello. This will be our second trip on the Disney Dream for myself, my wife and DD 14. We are bringing along our first time cruisers of our son, daughter-in-law and grand daughter 3 1/2. We have previously participated in a FE program on the Dream in 2011. There was a very large group of participants on that sailing and doing the FE was a large chore and became expensive. We would like to participate this time, if the group isn't too huge and I would suggest one gift per family.

Hi, I would also like to be a part of the fist extender and I don't mind helping with the organization of it.

Hi, I'm sorry but I'm going to bail out of coordinating the FE. I just don't have the time. If someone else wants to take over just copy and paste the list I posted. I have no confirmation from anyone else wanting to participate other than people posting here on this thread.

Hello! I am getting married on January 16, 2016, and sailing on the Disney Dream on the 18th with our 6 year old son for our familymoon!! This will be our very first Disney cruise and we have a lot of questions! I'm not sure if I'm posting this correctly...so hopefully this post is noticed!

We would like to know if anyone is participating in the fish extender on this cruise! I know our son would love it!

Thank you,
Heather

Hello all, this will be our first family Disney cruise and we will be celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday. I have questions and would love to know how the fish extender works. If someone could answer, that would be great. Is there a meet up list or something.

Thank You
Robin

Hello all! My husband (Tony) myself (Cheryl) and my 2 daughters (Izzy 13 and Lily 11) will be on this cruise. I did the same one last year and this will be our 8th Disney cruise so feel free to ask any questions you may have. Fish Extenders are a lot of fun, I ran last years group on the DIS and I would be happy to run one here, I am also very familiar with the rules on these boards and how to post and modify posts etc. So I'm happy to run things.

I should mention to some of the previous posters that the DIS rules say you can not link to exterior sites or even mention other sites where they may be running a fish extender group. However, after people sign up here they usually eventually find those exterior sites and many drop out of participating in the FE here and chatting here. That's okay though, There are usually a bunch of people who book the cruise last minute and want to participate in an FE so we will end up with enough people. Because of this though I will not close sign ups until a week before our cruise date. If you have gifts you want to start making you can just give the last minute people some sort of a last minute gift. Any questions ask away!

I will keep a running list of participants in the FE, I will need the following:

DIS Name, Traveler names, genders, ages & favorite Disney Characters for each person in your cabin, cabin #, any allergies and feel free to note any celebrations or requests

Looking forward to a great group!
