Movie Vault--Please Unlock!!!

OK, I know this has nothing to do with WDW, but....I wish someone would unlock the movie vault a little more!:tink:

As a child, I watched the Wonderful WOrld of Disney religiously, with my entire family. It was an event! Some of the old movies would air, movies from the 60s or 70s: a Golden Era in Disney movie history.

While I am enjoying the new Pixar Era of Disney, and I am thrilled at their improvements/participation in the Marvel Movies Saga, I so wish some of the old classics would come out more often. Am I the ONLY PERSON who wants to see Dr. Syn, Alias, the Scarecrow re-released?!?

Just thinking out loud...your thoughts?:smickey:

I know many of the movies were re-released every 7 years. It was the "Right" age to get the newer kids interested and the older ones to reminisce. This, of course was before the age of DVD and Blue Ray. Even now, only select movies get released in a cycle similar to what the older movies used to be.

Today most movies are rereleased on anniversaries. Like this year I believe they brought the lady and tramp back.

Also now that disney and TCM have a partnership they do show old wonderful world of disney shows and really old disney movies on their channel.

I've already ordered Aladdin through the Disney Movie Club, it comes out in Oct. I think. I was about 9 when it came out and I wore out 2 VHS copies of it. I cannot wait to share it with my boys before our next trip. I would love to see more of the Walt Disney's Wonderful World shows.

I hear you - watched the Wonderful World of Color on a B&W TV with rabbit ears and Dials :). VERY much like one of the TVs at "One Man's Dream" :).
Check EBAY. I HATE LIKE HELL to say that.... so much on EBAY is pirated. But if it's your only option? Wellllll - most of it works, and fairly well :(.

Ebay, another 'bay that has to do with pirates...there are many options for obtaining older Disney movies.

I want the Not Quite Human trilogy to get a Blu-Ray and/or DVD release! They were TV movies is the late '80s and early '90s with Alan Thicke. I don't really want somebody's VHS version burned onto a recordable DVD...

I was very disappointed I wasn't able to get a copy of the Scarecrow when they did the limited release through Disney Treasures. I really enjoyed watching that as a kid and want to own it

YES!!! I remember these movies, but didn't think that anybody else did. They were pretty awesome, especially to a 8 yr old boy! Too funny, would love to see again.

I know what you mean, I love Ebay, but something about pirating Disney movies online....hopefully it won't come to that. Still holding onto hope that WD Pictures will re-release...:worship:

I'll echo the excitement for Aladdin, I've been waiting YEARS for that to be re-released. As soon as I got the email for preorder my wallet was magically appearing in my hand, now that is some strong pixie dust.

I wonder if they'll release 2 and 3?

Would love to see Journey of Natty Gann released as well. My copy via alternative methods is okay, but I hard copy would be nice.

And any of the old Disney shows that you could watch on the Disney Channel back in the day would be cool too.

While we're unlocking vaults, let's go ahead and let out Song of the South.
Seems to me that Song of the South was released on DVD to overseas markets. I remember seeing a picture of the DVD cover/sleeve. Don't know if it is still available in the foreign market, but may be possible to get a copy. Similarly, I use ebay to get 3D copies of the recent releases. They are region free and come factory sealed. Don't know why Disney stopped releasing 3D in the states. Frozen came from the UK and then other movies are from Spain, Australia, and even Russia.

Disney Move Club does have a LOT of movies you can't find anywhere else. I've ordered things like The Great Mouse Detective that I've NEVER seen anywhere else. But I agree on those old school movies - love them and love introducing my kids to them. We watched That Darn Cat not too long ago. We've also pre-ordered Aladdin, although I prefer to pre-order things like that through Amazon, now that their war with Disney seems to be resolved. I get best price guarantee & it arrives on my doorstep on release day since we have Prime. I've also ordered the new Cinderella that way, and am sad that its release day has been moved to September. Boo!

I was able to secure a copy of "Monkeys Go Home" a few months back.
