No not on the free bit only when i was paying I think its to get you to use more.Did you get the emails for the free 50MG? I didn't (
Schmoo and DF, I swear you two just take turns being nice to newer people and being a little snarky about what you know and how long you've known it. The mom in me thinks you must be siblings.
OP, that's a great tip. As a new cruiser I appreciate the info from everyone new and experienced.
I love DFs posts here. He is kind, never makes guesses just for the sake of posting, and is reliable. I appreciate a good source here.
I'm hoping it is per person and not per cabin. I'm traveling with my 9 year old and hope she can sign up for the free 50 also. Guess I will have to wait and hope for the best!

So, you need to log out of the DCL Navigator app to prevent unwanted usage? Does that keep you from using the Navigator app for looking at menus, events on the ship, etc? Or, do I just turn off push/background refresh for email and everything else? Would that work? I really only want it for emergencies.Be sure to completely log off the app not just swipe it closed. See on the top right of the blue bar. I used all my time without actually using it. View attachment 104244
Thanks! I've never done the internet before, only the onboard wifi, so this makes sense.Log off the internet not the onboard wifi.
The Internet allows you to access your "at home" things. Facebook, emails and such.
The onboard wifi allows you to see The Navigators and text each other
2 separate "pages" within the app.
Sorry, if my response seemed snarky. I didn't mean it that way at all. Just pointing out that it wasn't really a new thing.
The free 50MB package is "advertised" in the first day's Navigator, at least as recently as earlier this month:
As it says, there is "Only one free package per stateroom, but everyone can share it". You sign up by going to www.dclguest.com on whatever device you are using and creating an account.
Same - wasn't trying to be "snarky" either, lol but the folks on the Magic in Norway (they are still cruising on her) mentioned it was *not* in the Navigators so not sure if that was a glitch for that sailing(s) or it DCL was "testing" it by not advertising. I agree, on my cruises I've seen it advertised so a lot of us questioned this when the info was shared and this person has sailed DCL 50+ times so I trust themagree with shmoo. it was on page 4, day 1 of the june 1-8, 2015 alaskan cruise navigator, for example.

I'll find out in a little over a week and I'll be happy to report back later!
I just got off the Magic and learned this lesson too late...
On the day you board the disney ship, you can get a free 50MB of internet access, but you have to sign up for it that day. The offer expires at midnight that first night, and there appeared to be no catch. Unfortunately, I didn't discover this until the next day (our sea day) and the offer wasn't available. But I was happy to discover their other internet plans are now more reasonable than you'd think. 100MB for $19, 300MB for $39 or 1000MB for $89. I opted for the 100MB for $19 and was able to check email every night. Meanwhile, Verizon wanted to charge me $25 for 100MB that I would not be able to use on the ship - only in port (where free wifi could often be found).

Anyway, I figured I'd share this with future cruisers... at least take advantage of the free MBs if you can get them!
I used the computers at Wonder's internet cafe and it was a great way to check emails and news from back home.
