Hey, ya'll!
Hope everybody had a great weekend! I have just a few things I wanted to post today.
TRIP:
I spoke with my friend who works for Universal Orlando over the weekend, and confirmed that he 100% can hook me up again this year with complimentary 1-Day Park-to-Park passes, not just for me but for Uncle Mark and Aunt Debby too! So between the three of us, he just saved us $450 bucks!
I'm pretty jazzed! I knew there was a chance he could do it, but the last time we spoke about it was 8 months ago and it was too early for him to give me a definite answer. So I brought it up to him and he checked the blackout dates for his team member comps, and said that we are good-to-go. He just can't request them until we're within 90 days of the trip, so I'll actually get them from him in mid-September. Yaaay!
LIFE:
1. My little beat-up car is sick.
Too sick even for my usual bopping around town in her anymore. I can't get her to accelerate over 40 MPH, and she struggles hard just to get up to that speed. I have to keep feathering the gas pedal to get her to go at all. So she's going in the shop in the morning. My stepdad is friends with the mechanic and they're going to work out paying for the repairs. I'm SO lucky to have my parents. They are going out of town for a couple weeks starting Tuesday, so I'll have my Mom's car to get me back and forth to work while mine's being worked on.
2. Last night I went with my work wife and her kiddo for dinner and a movie. I ate pad thai and watched "San Andreas," so it was a pretty great night! The movie was good... It ran face-first into several typical disaster movie cheesy cliches, though. But since I was expecting those, I forgave them. I'm not normally into action/disaster movies in general, but the trailers made this one look visually stunning (and it was), and it was totally one of those edge-of-your seat movies, from start to finish. I think I had approximately 114 heart attacks before the film ended. And then I also am happy I went to see it, because... well... Sitting through 2 hours of Dwayne Johnson NEVER hurts my feelings.
3. My Mama and I went and got pedicures yesterday, and at the request of
@DonnaBeeGood, I'm posting a picture of my pretty toes. (Apologies in advance if any of you are one of those crazies who are weirded out by feet... Blame Donna for this...):
The color, as listed on the bottom of the bottle was: "The Color of Minnie." I'm not lying!
FUN:
Since so many of you responded to my photo of Butters in the dryer, and some even with pictures of your own furballs, I thought I'd put a call out to all of you, to help me pass the time until ADRs next weekend:
Show me pictures of your furbabies!!! Doesn't have to be cats, because I love all animals! I choose to only have cats because of my lifestyle: I live alone in an apartment and work long hours and like to travel, and just feel that's not fair to a dog. Where as cats are pretty self-sufficient, and can take care of themselves and each other for the most part when I'm gone for 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. But PLEASE go ahead and post photos of your dogs, cats, gerbils, ferrets, whatever! Even snakes are fine with me! (No spiders. I draw the line at spiders.) And tell me a little bit about them!
I'll start by more formally introducing you to my two spoiled rotten boys...
Hi, I'm Butters! I'm approximately 10 years old (Mama celebrates my birthday on May 15th). I showed up on her front porch in a rain storm when I was 4 months old (according to the vet). She said that the storm was the outer rings of rain from Hurricane Rita in 2005 and so she sometimes calls me her "Hurricane Baby." I sat on her front porch that night, and meow-meow-meowed until somebody opened it. It was her roommate, even though my Mama told her "DON'T YOU LET THAT CAT IN THIS HOUSE!" Thankfully, her roomie didn't listen to her, and so I walked right on in like I owned the place, all soaking wet and giving zero craps. Then I saw my Mama sitting on the couch, watching me silently, so I walked over to her, put my front paws up on the edge of the couch, looked up at her with my big amber eyes, and said "Meow!" ...And as expected, she fell head over heels in love with me at that moment, and we've been completely inseparable ever since. She calls me her "little orange and white shadow" because where ever she goes, I go too! I don't even let her close the bathroom door to potty or take a shower... If she tries, I claw at the carpet under to door until she opens it... I just can't handle the separation anxiety! Even as she's typing this introduction for me, I'm in her recliner with her, fast asleep on the footrest and curled up in between her legs (it's my happy place, as you can see in the photo above). Another thing to know about me... Just like my Mama, I love to eat! Om nom nom! My favorite things in the whole world are Mama, food, and sleep. We're two peas in a pod.
And I'm Harley, and I'm way more fun that than boring old man cat! I'm approximately 5 years old (almost... Mama celebrates my birthday on June 15th). My Mama adopted me in 2010 from a local rescue organization that she was volunteering with then, Palmetto Animal League. Another volunteer had found me and my two littermates in a TRASH CAN when we were baby kittens, and fostered us until there was room for us at PAL's shelter, which is where my Mama met us for the first time when we were 5 months old or so. She had been keeping an eye out for a male kitten about that age to be a companion for Butters, since she was away from home more and more. Would you believe that at first she was going to take one of my littermates home instead of me? (He didn't have the long hair that I do, and she was worried about my fluff being all over the house.) But as she sat in the floor at the shelter with all three of us, he was being very standoff-ish with her, and I KNEW that I wanted her to be MY Mama, so I went right up to her and told her that she needed to take me home with her (and I really did TELL her, I'm a talker, I never shut up), and crawled in her lap, and convinced her that I was the right choice! So she brought me home and introduced me to my NEW big brother Butters... Whew, he did NOT like me at first!!! But just like my Mama, I eventually won him over, and now we're good buddies! He's not as active as I am, so sometimes I have to trick him into rough-housing and playing chase with me. He's 16 pounds to my 10 pounds, but I still kick his butt! And when I'm not busy harassing my big brother, I'm snuggled up to my Mama! Between me and Butters, she never gets any peace (but I think she secretly likes it that way). And as you can see from the photos, I love to help Mama pack for her Disney World vacations!
