It's My Birthday & I'll Disney if I Wanna! ~ A Dec 2015 PTR - COMPLETE!

Single Digit ADR dancing is totally legit!

See...I'll do it with you. Cause I'm at 3 days!!!

In any cases where you see Boatwright's Dining Hall, that's only if we decide to switch to POR once the military rates come out in the next month or two:

So if I get shut out of my First Choice on any day, then I'll consult my 2-3 suggested back-ups, and go from there and hope for the best! :goodvibes

Any suggestions regarding in what order I should prioritize these First Choices? I know to go for BoG first (obviously), but beyond that? I know to do Boma last, and Biergarten second-to-last. But from what I can tell, Ohana, Akershus, T-Rex, Tusker House, and Crystal Palace all seem to be pretty equal in popularity, so I would LOVE some help on sorting out my booking order here:

1st: Be Our Guest
2nd: ????????
3rd: ????????
4th: ????????
5th: ????????
6th: ????????
7th: Biergarten
8th: Boma

Thoughts, ya'll? :confused3

I've been reading about people having so much trouble getting ADRs so I made backup plans too...and then backups for my backups...and you get it.

So this is how I would go for it:
1 - BOG
2 - Akershus
3 - Ohana
4 - Crystal Palace
5 - TRex
6 - Tusker House
7 - Biergarten
8 - Boma

I do think people are ADR hoarding so things may open up closer to the travel date. And I have a feeling Disney is holding back some ADRs or something. I had no issues getting ADRs last year (aside from the impossible ones like BOG or 8:00 CRT or Crystal Palace) and we went during Free Dining.

ADR is a comin!

I keep reading that you shouldn't panic if you can't get the ADR's you want right away because they often open up quite a bit in the week leading up to your trip. I've also heard that if you wait for a couple of hours after the ADR window opens up, the website is not so bogged down. Anyway, not sure how true either of these are, but I'm hoping more ADR's open up before our trip because I'd still like some different times for some of our meals. I hope you get everything you want!!
Guuuurl, I am far too Type A about planning to wait until the week of the trip for a reservation. So I'm just praying and hoping that it all works out next weekend!

It's not only allowed, it's required!
Excellent! :yay:

I think it's great to have backups ... but I hope you don't need to use them.
Me too! :sad2:

No idea. But this makes me scared of ADRs ...
I'm terrified! :scared:

He is your cat, I would expect no less (or is it no more?)
He's a mess. :lovestruc

Don't get me wrong...I think you DO have a good shot at getting all your top picks for ADR's...but it's nice to have back up choices so you aren't stressing about it at the time. You can of course go back and check for your first choices again (or over and over and over...) but at leat you can move on to making all the ADR's you can get...
No, for sure, you were totally right when you asked if I had back-ups. When I realized I didn't, I just felt like "Doh!" :headache: That would have been a serious rookie mistake if I sat down to do my ADRs at 6am, only to find that I was totally unprepared with any semblance of a Plan B!

I used the work backwards method and it worked for me..... So that would put Akershus in spot 6.... I'm not sure I like that either...

So I would do Akershus as 2 since the goal is 8am, preparks tend to be harder to get....then 3 I would do crystal palace all MK places seem difficult to me. 4 I would do Ohana because it's your first day, 5 would be Tusker house and 6 would be T. rex because I heard they take resverations outside of ME (not 100% sure that's true)

That's how I would do it....either way good luck!!!!! FYI your eating at one of my favs from my last trip on my birthday :). I want to see princesses now!
This is really great advice! Thank you! :cutie:

Also your cat is to funny!!! :rotfl2:
He's ruined. :lovestruc

Picking ADR's is always so hard! Hopefully you get your first choices. I think the hardest place to get is BOG. The others you should probably be okay!
Thanks for the vote of confidence! :thumbsup2

I know this is a total rookie question... but what TIME can you get on for ADRs the day they are released? Are we talking 8am, or is it like midnight??
6:00am EST for online, 7:00am EST for phone calls! ::yes::

ALSO.... the shame.... I can book all the ADRs for my trip at one time, or does each day become available... each day? Um. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? :sad2:
If you are staying in a Disney resort, you get booking windows that's called "180+10." What that means is 180 days before your check-in date, you can book your ADRs for the whole trip, up to 10 days worth. So for example, my check-in date is Dec. 4th. So when I log on to do my ADRs on the morning of June 7th, I will be able to book them for Dec. 4th all the way through Dec. 14th, if I needed to. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the explanation....:flower:
My pleasure! :goodvibes

As for ADRs, I would do Akershus next, then Ohana, Crystal Palace and then any of the others. breakfasts with the Princesses go fairly fast. Really anything pre-park opening.
I think you're right, Akershus should totally go in that #2 spot! ::yes::

Here's what I would do:

BOG
Akershus
Ohana
Crystal Palace
T-Rex
Tusker House
Biergarten
Boma
This is a VERY good suggested order! Thank you! :cutie:

Your cat is so cute!
He's ridiculous. :lovestruc

Good lord, is that crocodile doing a happy dance or having a happy seizure? :rotfl:

I think I agree with your suggested order! And yeah, I was telling somebody earlier today about how last year, I got every ADR I wanted right off the rip, even BoG. But this year I keep reading about how much trouble folks are having, and it's stressing me the eff out! :scared:

ADR is a comin!
Sooooo close nowwwwww.... :hyper:

I am really interested to see how your reservations go.. I want to see if my theory is correct!!!

Ohana is still a huge one to get. So is CP apparently...

But I do love your plans!!! Back up is always good!!!

9 days and counting!!

Yeah for single digit ADR days!!!!! Thanks for letting me peak into the mind of how the planning half lives ; ) Would you believe I've never even booked a trip before the 180 day mark.

And thanks again for the military discount info. I was able to save $100 on my POFQ room over the 4 nights and went from a standard to river view room to boot!!!!

Hopefully you'll be fine with your ADR's. Last trip I had 15 days worth to book and managed to get everything at almost exactly the time I wanted. The time difference was in my favour but I booked at exactly 6am 180 days out for the first 10 days so if you set your alarm I'm sure you'll be fine :)

I hope it isn't, because according to your theory, I'm gonna have a hard time! :scared: If we're talking about the same theory...

Ohana is still a huge one to get. So is CP apparently...
I know. Why did I have to pick out all of the awesome places? :sad2:

But I do love your plans!!! Back up is always good!!!
I love my plans, too! I hope I don't need those back-up options! :rolleyes2

9 days and counting!!
8 now! Almost 7! :hyper:

Oh heck yeah. It's not only allowed but encouraged!!!!!!!!! Especially when Michael Scott is contributing to the dancing :thumbsup2
Excellent!

OMG just way too stinkin' adorable.
That's my Butters! :cat:

We're a crazy crazy bunch, I tell ya. :crazy2:

That is AWESOME, dude! I'm so stoked to hear that! :hyper:

Oh, not to worry. I'll be here 5:30am, anxiously watching the clock. No alarm needed... I'm a night owl and I'm on vacation the whole week... so I'll just stay awake until ADR time.

We *might* be there the same time as you, just need to work on the hubby, who thinks 3x in one year is too much (he's crazy!) and we usually stay at POR and we love Boatwrights. I think of it as a hidden gem, you don't expect it to be so good, but it was great food and service! So that's my random plug:thumbsup2

"In general, yes. The craps that he does give, those go in the litter box thankfully. :rotfl: :cat:"

Rofl:rotfl2:is Butters named after the South Park Butters??
Since we are on the subject of our fur babies I feel compelled to share this pic Kiya took of ours a couple of days ago

This is Angus. He's ready to Party....Or perhaps he's just come home from the party....

Single digit ADR dance, why absolutely!:hyper::banana::hyper:
So is BOG a ADR for lunch also? Have they done away with the FP+ thing for lunch? Just curious.
Sorry but have no advice whatsoever on the order of your ADR's. I'm already compiling a list for our trip next year but I think we are going to go with the deluxe DP so we can try as many sig. restaurants as possible. I'm excited for you to get to your ADR day, it's like a quest. I think I may need to take the day off of work when I get to do mine :rotfl:
Back up lists are always good to have but I hope you get all your first choices.

You sure do write a very engaging PTR! I'm almost as excited for your ADR day as I was for my own!

Since we're showing off kitties...

I'm so glad to hear this! The menu looks incredible, and I figure since we might be staying there anyhow, I may as well keep it open as an option on a couple of nights! ::yes::

I think once hokieinpa is done with my extra ADR luck, she can pass it along to you. I have 3 previous trips with no ADR's, so that's gotta give you guys some extra pull in getting your preferred dining experiences!
Thanks, girl! We need all the ADR luck we can get lately, it seems!

Rofl:rotfl2:is Butters named after the South Park Butters??
Sorta. More like South Park forced my hand. LOL. When he first showed up on my doorstep 10 years ago and I decided to take him in, I was struggling to come up with for a name for him. But just naturally when I was talking to him, I kept calling him Butterball or Butternut Squash or Butterboo, never thinking of any of those as an actual names for him, just being silly with cutesy little pet names. This went on for a few days until one night my roommate at the time and I were watching South Park and my roommate looks at me and goes, "Dude, why don't you just call him Butters? It works." And so... it stuck, and Butters he became. :rotfl:

Look at Angus! He's showing his Disney Side! I love it! :cutie:

So is BOG a ADR for lunch also? Have they done away with the FP+ thing for lunch? Just curious.
It's still counter service for lunch, but now you book an actual ADR for it, which also lets you pre-order all your food still. I did it in April, and it was AWESOME. :thumbsup2

Deluxe Dining is the dream, man. That's the plan for my solo week in October 2017, and to finally try some of those Signatures I've been drooling over for years! Yum! :cutie:

Back up lists are always good to have but I hope you get all your first choices.
I hope so too! I'm so stressed out! :scared:

You sure do write a very engaging PTR! I'm almost as excited for your ADR day as I was for my own!
Aww, yay! That's what I strive for, actually! I'm so happy to hear that it's working! :goodvibes

**************************************************

Hey, ya'll! :grouphug:

Hope everybody had a great weekend! I have just a few things I wanted to post today. :cutie:

TRIP:
I spoke with my friend who works for Universal Orlando over the weekend, and confirmed that he 100% can hook me up again this year with complimentary 1-Day Park-to-Park passes, not just for me but for Uncle Mark and Aunt Debby too! So between the three of us, he just saved us $450 bucks! I'm pretty jazzed! I knew there was a chance he could do it, but the last time we spoke about it was 8 months ago and it was too early for him to give me a definite answer. So I brought it up to him and he checked the blackout dates for his team member comps, and said that we are good-to-go. He just can't request them until we're within 90 days of the trip, so I'll actually get them from him in mid-September. Yaaay! :hyper:

LIFE:
1. My little beat-up car is sick. :sad2: Too sick even for my usual bopping around town in her anymore. I can't get her to accelerate over 40 MPH, and she struggles hard just to get up to that speed. I have to keep feathering the gas pedal to get her to go at all. So she's going in the shop in the morning. My stepdad is friends with the mechanic and they're going to work out paying for the repairs. I'm SO lucky to have my parents. They are going out of town for a couple weeks starting Tuesday, so I'll have my Mom's car to get me back and forth to work while mine's being worked on.

2. Last night I went with my work wife and her kiddo for dinner and a movie. I ate pad thai and watched "San Andreas," so it was a pretty great night! The movie was good... It ran face-first into several typical disaster movie cheesy cliches, though. But since I was expecting those, I forgave them. I'm not normally into action/disaster movies in general, but the trailers made this one look visually stunning (and it was), and it was totally one of those edge-of-your seat movies, from start to finish. I think I had approximately 114 heart attacks before the film ended. And then I also am happy I went to see it, because... well... Sitting through 2 hours of Dwayne Johnson NEVER hurts my feelings. :lovestruc

3. My Mama and I went and got pedicures yesterday, and at the request of @DonnaBeeGood, I'm posting a picture of my pretty toes. (Apologies in advance if any of you are one of those crazies who are weirded out by feet... Blame Donna for this...):
20150531_203135-1.jpg

The color, as listed on the bottom of the bottle was: "The Color of Minnie." I'm not lying! ::MinnieMo

FUN:
Since so many of you responded to my photo of Butters in the dryer, and some even with pictures of your own furballs, I thought I'd put a call out to all of you, to help me pass the time until ADRs next weekend:

Show me pictures of your furbabies!!! Doesn't have to be cats, because I love all animals! I choose to only have cats because of my lifestyle: I live alone in an apartment and work long hours and like to travel, and just feel that's not fair to a dog. Where as cats are pretty self-sufficient, and can take care of themselves and each other for the most part when I'm gone for 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. But PLEASE go ahead and post photos of your dogs, cats, gerbils, ferrets, whatever! Even snakes are fine with me! (No spiders. I draw the line at spiders.) And tell me a little bit about them!

I'll start by more formally introducing you to my two spoiled rotten boys...

Butters.jpg

20150531_202525-1.jpg

Hi, I'm Butters! I'm approximately 10 years old (Mama celebrates my birthday on May 15th). I showed up on her front porch in a rain storm when I was 4 months old (according to the vet). She said that the storm was the outer rings of rain from Hurricane Rita in 2005 and so she sometimes calls me her "Hurricane Baby." I sat on her front porch that night, and meow-meow-meowed until somebody opened it. It was her roommate, even though my Mama told her "DON'T YOU LET THAT CAT IN THIS HOUSE!" Thankfully, her roomie didn't listen to her, and so I walked right on in like I owned the place, all soaking wet and giving zero craps. Then I saw my Mama sitting on the couch, watching me silently, so I walked over to her, put my front paws up on the edge of the couch, looked up at her with my big amber eyes, and said "Meow!" ...And as expected, she fell head over heels in love with me at that moment, and we've been completely inseparable ever since. She calls me her "little orange and white shadow" because where ever she goes, I go too! I don't even let her close the bathroom door to potty or take a shower... If she tries, I claw at the carpet under to door until she opens it... I just can't handle the separation anxiety! Even as she's typing this introduction for me, I'm in her recliner with her, fast asleep on the footrest and curled up in between her legs (it's my happy place, as you can see in the photo above). Another thing to know about me... Just like my Mama, I love to eat! Om nom nom! My favorite things in the whole world are Mama, food, and sleep. We're two peas in a pod. :lovestruc

20150413_222730-1.jpg

PSX_20150517_005256.jpg

And I'm Harley, and I'm way more fun that than boring old man cat! I'm approximately 5 years old (almost... Mama celebrates my birthday on June 15th). My Mama adopted me in 2010 from a local rescue organization that she was volunteering with then, Palmetto Animal League. Another volunteer had found me and my two littermates in a TRASH CAN when we were baby kittens, and fostered us until there was room for us at PAL's shelter, which is where my Mama met us for the first time when we were 5 months old or so. She had been keeping an eye out for a male kitten about that age to be a companion for Butters, since she was away from home more and more. Would you believe that at first she was going to take one of my littermates home instead of me? (He didn't have the long hair that I do, and she was worried about my fluff being all over the house.) But as she sat in the floor at the shelter with all three of us, he was being very standoff-ish with her, and I KNEW that I wanted her to be MY Mama, so I went right up to her and told her that she needed to take me home with her (and I really did TELL her, I'm a talker, I never shut up), and crawled in her lap, and convinced her that I was the right choice! So she brought me home and introduced me to my NEW big brother Butters... Whew, he did NOT like me at first!!! But just like my Mama, I eventually won him over, and now we're good buddies! He's not as active as I am, so sometimes I have to trick him into rough-housing and playing chase with me. He's 16 pounds to my 10 pounds, but I still kick his butt! And when I'm not busy harassing my big brother, I'm snuggled up to my Mama! Between me and Butters, she never gets any peace (but I think she secretly likes it that way). And as you can see from the photos, I love to help Mama pack for her Disney World vacations! ::MickeyMo

Penny Bean Von Mankaa Gooble-Smith C-P (Penny) - A Bernese Mountain Dog (not BURMESE as many people incorrectly say... do you know how HOT it is in Burma?!) Christmas gift from 2009, she was born on Christmas Eve! She was NOT a rescue, but a very expensive dog that has very terrible allergies for which we give sublingual allergy therapy daily (never again! we're going mutt next time!!). We were told the breed was lazy and loving... she's the craziest dog I've ever owned. Coming up on 6 years old, and still a PUPPY. She weighs about 100lbs and will gleefully stride towards our 1-year-old baby and plow right into her. Even though she can be really annoying when she gets crazy and barks at everrrrrytttthing, we still love her. They don't live to long, so we savor every moment!

Chaalie von Chaage of You All Everybody Gooble-Smith C-P (Cha Cha) - Orange tabby. I seriously can't stand cats, but Cha Cha is okay by me (AS LONG AS HE DOESN'T MESS WITH MY FURNITURE!). He's mostly a lover, until the dog is crazy or the baby so much as looks at him. Last week he got her on the forehead, but alls well with the Cha Cha Man. He's a great mouser and spends about 1/2 of his nights outside, the other half curled up on our bed. He loves boxes and birds. We think he's about 4 years old -- we don't celebrate the Cha Man's birthday. Pretty much every day is his birthday because he's the Cha Man. When rescued, his name was Vince.

She's gorgeous!!! I just want to snuggle her and roll around in the floor with her! I love dogs. My parents have a chocolate lab, and I go over to their house usually once a week to get my doggy fix. Love doggies! And yours look so sweet! :lovestruc

Yeah, he looks like trouble. :cutie: And their names are both SO FUNNY!

Hahaha, thanks for the pedicure pic Billie - looking princess perfect! I did stick on polish stickers on our last trip for something very fancy!
I often will have them freehand a design on my big toes, but I was in hurry to get to the movie so I decided to forgo it this time. But I like being fancy too! :cutie:

Fabulous news on the Universal passes - you got connections, gurl!
Awww yeeeeauuuh!!! I'm pretty stoked! :hyper:

Here's a pic of Luna - I rescued her from an internet ad for free kittens. She was handed to me, including her broken tail that has a permanently bent tip. I'm sure that her mama was a free spirit, she is quite the indoor hunter (of bugs) and she is not cuddly, which is OK because I am very allergic to her, but missed having cats. So I am being content with one slightly wild kitty who gets a bath every Sunday night so that she can stay and I can breathe! She will be 2 on September 25th-ish.

Aww, looka dat cute sleepy Luna kitty! :goodvibes It sounds like she's the perfect kitty for you!

Fun!!

I already shared pics of my Punky and Angelica above, but here's some info on them:

Punky is 12 and he's a big mushy, gushy lover boy. He cuddles with everyone, especially me, but he also likes to be the welcoming committee and cuddle up to anyone who walks in the door. Sometimes he gets a little too excited, if you know what I mean, which is odd because he is "altered" but he's just kind of a weird boy. When I got him from the humane society, they told me he'd been picked up as a stray and they thought he might be inbred...so...yeah... But he really is the sweetest thing ever, and I love my inbred, overly-affectionate little guy. He also has IBD, which is to cats as Chron's disease is to humans. He has to take steroid and antibiotic pills regularly to keep his flare-ups under control. My vet says it's normally a death sentence for cats, because of how hard it is to get them to take pills. But Punky is not a normal cat, and he takes his pills without any objection as long as he's being cuddled. He's been on his meds for almost two years and they are keeping him as healthy as a 12-year-old cat can be.

Angelica is 13, and she was born on a farm, so she's really tough and playful. She's my 6-year-old's playmate of choice, and she really seems to enjoy being dressed up as a doll, carried around, pushed in a stroller, etc. She isn't as obviously friendly as Punky is, but if you know her you know that she also has a cuddly side, and that she LOVES being around her people. She used to play fetch when she was a kitten, but I think she forgot how in her old age. She also really likes to wrap herself around my neck like she's a scarf, and then have me walk around with her like that. lol. Cats are so crazy!

We have one other furbaby that I forgot to mention in my previous post...

This is Buster the Hamster. Don't ask me why he's sitting on the remote controls with a jelly jar next to him. I have no idea. He's my DD's furbaby, but I really love him too. He is missing the skittish/nippy hamster instinct, and instead he just cuddles and plays. If you open his cage he'll walk right into your hand and will sit there and let you pet him. My DD has a big doll house and spends lots of time letting him hang out in all the rooms. I've never seen such a sweet, chill hamster before... It makes me sad to know that they only live for two years.

Thanks for letting me share, and BTW I love your Minnie Pedi!!

Ohhh, poor little inbred goofy baby boy! I love Punky! Harley was my greeting committee for years, but it's been just me and the kitties for so long that now he hides when somebody comes in the house... But only for a little while. After a few minutes, next thing you know you'll feel him giving you ankle love, even if you're a stranger. I do miss the days when he would greet my guests with instant-affection, though!

Butters is stand-offish with company, too. He won't hide, he'll sit on the otherside of the room and just watch us. Like, he wants to be near me, and he wants my company to know know it's his house... But he's not coming any closer. Silly butt. And my Harley plays fetch too, it's HILARIOUS!!!!

Oh my god. Buster the Hamster totally reminds me of the guinea pig from Bedtime Stories...

I don't know why, I think it's the eyes! Buster is precious!!! And I love that he's just so friendly and has no fear! That's awesome!

Thanks for not being grossed out by my freckled feets! :rotfl2:

Here's Dunkin...he is an Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees (both livestock guardian dogs)...he takes his job of protecting his livestock (humans in the house and his baby sister Kaylee)very seriously. We got him through an Anatolian Shepherd Rescue Group (NASRN)

And this is Kaylee. Oh my, she is a mess. We adopted her as a puppy from Metro Animal Shelter, where her name there was Skittles...this should have been our first clue. She was also billed as a Lab/Plott Hound Mix. I think she is actually Plott Hound/Jack Russell Terrier. She is into everything. It's a good thing she is cute...it has saved her butt many a time. :)

Thanks for sharing your kitties!
