Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS RESORT Information & Questions

Does anyone have an email address for someone at the resort? I'd like to email someone and ask if there are any large groups scheduled to be there while we are there (last week in June)...that makes a difference as to what section I'd like to request. If there are no large groups I'd like the back football section (looks quiet but short walk), if there are large groups I've read that's where they are placed & then I'd request hoops hotel.
I know I could call, it just seems like sometimes when emailing you get a definite answer ;)

Last week in June will see large numbers of South American Tour Groups-you're best bet will be Surf's Up!.

Learned my lesson my last stay at Sports, big cheerleading competition going on and I was in Hoops #3, on the third floor. If I stay at Sports again I will definitely book a preferred room. This got me to thinking that they will put the groups like the cheerleaders in the standard rooms because there is plenty of room for them to practice. You have the field at Touchdown, the field at Hoops, and the field at Tennis for them.

The group packages' price usually only include Standard rooms.:)

So, I'm currently a CP, and my parents and fiance are coming down from Chicago for a visit (my fiance will be moving down here with me once our lease is up and my program is over) and we're staying at ASSports while they're here. Our dates are 6/5 to 6/8. None of us have stayed there before (my parents and I have stayed at Pop and DF stayed offsite when he and his family came when he was a kid) and I've been googling around for information. I have a couple of questions about it.

On one site, it was stated that there is no bar soap provided as toiletries, just liquid dispensers in the shower. Is this accurate? I only found that on the one site, so I'm not sure. My last stay in an on-site hotel was five years ago, so I'm sure things have changed since then.

From pictures that I saw on the resort page on this site, it looks like the rooms come with mini fridges now, but some places say it's a "beverage cooler that doesn't reach fridge temperatures", while other sites say that it's an actual mini fridge. Would they keep, say, cream cheese and orange juice and similar things cold? My mom was asking about fridges in the room and as far as I knew at the time, they didn't have them in the values, so I told her no, but this would be a nice surprise if they're included in the values now. They're probably going to have a cooler anyway, since they're driving, but it would still be nice.

Oh, and one more question that's more of a personal preference, I guess. Do you guys find the rapid fill mugs to be worth it? I was telling my dad about it (my parents are the type who NEED their coffee in the morning), but since we're only there a few days, he's not sure if it's worth it.

Thank you!

Yes, there is bar soap provided.

There are mini fridges in every room at WDW. Yes, they will keep anything cold that you need.

Since there is no more 2 or 3 day options for the mugs, I think they'll be better off just buying coffee every morning. Now the only option is length of stay and it is $16.49 no matter how long your stay is.

the only thing i can add to what others have stated is the fridges have been in the rooms at sports for two years.

i do a grocery stop before i get to the hotel and always buy a case of water.

if you turn the dial in the mini fridge in your room and put water bottles in the back on the shelf, it can freeze.
(won't freeze rock hard solid though)
happened to me on my last september stay there.
i'm not complaining about it.
just took the bottle out of the fridge in the morning and loved having it icy.

same thing happened during my january stay at sports.
the temp in the fridge was not just a cooling beverage box, it kept my items cold.

i always forget which way to turn that temp knob.

agree with dans dad about the mugs.
if your parental units only want a cup of coffee each morning, cheaper to buy a cup each day.
you can get a free refill on the paper cups within an hour of first time you get the coffee.

not sure how much coffee is, probably $2.50 or 2.75 a cup.

since i do drink at least 4 cups of coffee each morning and then another couple in the evening, i will come out ahead in buying the refillable mug to use.
for a 5 night stay, the mug will work for me.
(i'm not a soda drinker at all, just water and coffee.)
i'm guessing for my upcoming september stay there, same thing will happen again.......lol
i'll be freezing my water bottles......

btw, i live in the northern chicago area.
our low tonight will be in the upper 30's.
lucky you in orlando and don't have to deal with cold weather in spring.....

All righty, that's good to know :) I'll let my mom know that she can expect a fridge. As far as the mugs, my dad might end up getting one, I dunno. He's the type who'd definitely try to get his use out of it if he did (when we stayed at Pop at the end of my first program in 2005, he was that person who was refilling the mug multiple times so he could fill his coffee thermos for the drive home). I'm just not sure how much coffee they'll be wanting while we're there. Neither I nor my fiance drink coffee, so it's just them.

I'm not sure if they're going to want to stop at the store before getting to the hotel or not. I'm leaving that up to them, since I'm just meeting them there.

btw, i live in the northern chicago area.

Yeah, I've heard. I've been here since Easter, and it's been pretty warm so far. It looks like it's sunny out today, so that'll be nice (I'm heading to MK in a bit to screw around, it's my day off). Stay warm!

Well, that's good to know. And yes, we will be using the buses. That was one of the selling points for my dad, that they could leave the van at the resort and just take the bus everywhere.

Thank you!

Quick question -- where is luggage assistance located? Is it near where ME picks guests up?

It is at the "front door" where the ME buses drop off Guests coming from the airport.

ME picks Guests up on the "other" side of the building-the side where the park Bus Stops are located-Resort Luggage Check-In is also on this side.

Just back from Sports and while the resort is ok I have no desire to return. Like my Pop Century so muching better. The plus Sports did have was that it was only a 10min walk from the lobby to the McDonald's on the corner. That was great as the food court food was pretty bad. I found it true that other guest are a lot noisier at the All Stars then at Pop. Everynight I was woken up by noisy guest walking and running outside the room and I was on the second floor, on the end of building 10. Also found the front desk staff not rude but not as friendly (uninterested) as the other resorts I have been to. Bus service was typical nothing stood out good or bad.

Sorry to hear that! Our first stay at Sports will be this Sept, so I'm a little nervous. We are requesting building 10. I'd hoped the food court would be good as it was recently renovated. Hoped it was like AoA. Guess we will see for ourselves :)

sorry your stay there was a disappointment for you and the family.

i adore staying at Sports.
with the new food court, it was wonderful!

they added more entrees to the dinner menu and i ended up doing dinner there than at epcot on two nights.
London Broil meal and Roasted Turkey meal .............such big hits for me.
plan to repeat them again this september
