Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Not sure. Those pool view rooms in Samoa are hard to come by, I'm sure. From what I have read, the whole longhouse of Samoa might be hard to come by. Go to touring plans.com and look at the resort room views. Its a great asset to look at.

Edited to add that I am shocked that Disney has not charged a premium for those pool view/area rooms in Samoa.

We had our 1st WDW trip in Nov 2013 and stayed at the Poly. We booked at standard view and taking the wonderful advice of this board, we request 3rd floor Samoa and we granted our wishes :) This was our view from our balcony (please forgive me if the photo doesn't load right- I've never posted photos on here before- but I do have a few more of the room and stuff , but they're from the 2nd week Nov 2013):

If you plan to do online check-in, you can check up to two of the following: (keep in mind that "Hawaii building" is not a valid option since it is all club level rooms)

  • Balcony
  • Ground Floor
  • Second Floor
  • Upper Floor
  • Lower Floor
  • Near Elevator
  • Patio
  • Aotearoa Building
  • Fiji Building
  • Hawaii Building
  • Niue Building
  • Rarotonga Building
  • Samoa Building
  • Tuvalu Building

Are non dvc guests permitted in that area to view the outside of the bungalows or is access restricted? I know I can't go in one, but would love to take a walk by for a close up look.

I have read that you cannot access the docks to bungalows.

OMG! Thank you so much for the Touring Plan suggestion. That is SO COOL that you can literally click on every longhouse and it shows the layout of the building and then you can click on a room to see a view from that room type!

Shhhhh!!! Don't give them ideas! We pay enough already to stay there!!

this is a great post! Love the pics! Maybe someone has already asked this, but can an adult fit on the pull down bed in the studio villas? Thanks!

Where could I find the most recent construction updates and pictures? Everything I've been able to find is from a few months ago, prior to the re-opening of the play area and lava pool. Thanks!!

I have seen a pic somewhere of a 6 foot adult lying on one, with neither head nor feet hanging off the ends. I believe it is narrower than a standard twin though.

My 6 yr old loved it! My 9 year old said it was small- but he's used to sleeping in a queen sized bed. Could an adult fit- probably but I don't know if they would be comfortable.

Anyone knows how the progress on the area outside of Hawaii GV rooms is going? Curious if there is still a dirt pile or if they've added grass back in!

Thank you!!!!! Trying to determine requests, and my husband is considering switching resorts :sad2::sad2: so I was curious to see how much it would actually intrude on normal daily activities.

ETA - This will be an anniversary trip for us after a TOUGH year. It's a little bit of a stretch budget-wise, but we really just need a romantic getaway and the Poly seems like the perfect place. After watching a video of some of the new areas, I got a little concerned.... everything "felt" really crowded because everyone was limited to the one pool and there were so many walls everywhere. I guess I'd like to see current pics just to get a little reassurance that it won't feel like that ;)

I hear you on the tough year (resigned from my position, 2 significant family deaths back to back) and need this vacation! But we went ahead and paid in full on Friday and I'm relieved we made a solid decision! We kept going back and forth and I think this is the best place for us!

OK, here is a resort map with the areas on construction. The hatched red areas are fenced off. There was no work going on while we're here (holliday weekend).

The good news - the quiet pool is still open. The bad news - alot of construction right now......

I'll write a complete room report when I get time but a few basic things on the Bungalows for those interested. The map shows the Bungalow numbers. The red circles are points of entry to the walkway docks. You can't get by the POE without a Magic Band linked to a Bungalow. We have 7006, absolutely wonderful.

1 - status and extent of construction to east pool area - Open and quiet (this weekend as no worker are here)
2 - specific room review of our Bungalow - will come ASAP. Allot to write about
3 - review of the Bungalow area (access, layout, numbering, distance to/from various points, etc) - see above
4 - review of Trader Sam's Grotto - Really cool place. Very small and intimate. Reminds me of the tequila bar in Mexico in EPCOT. Opens at 4:00 each day and there are people waiting in line to get in. No ADR's as it is not a "restaurant". Great drinks, small but good appetizers. Patio area is much bigger than the inside and serves everything the inside serves
5 - review of new main pool - soon
6 - review of the Barefoot Pool Bar - soon

Thanks so much, RRB! So do you think the quiet pool was just open because it's a holiday weekend, or has it not officially closed yet? Thanks again for the construction pic update!
