Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

I just booked the Poly - Standard View this morning for October 8-12! I'm going through some "mixed" emotions. On the one hand I like the new look of the Poly and the idea of the monorail and super excited to be going back to WDW, but I am also pretty nervous about the construction. Poly was the only deluxe with "magical" rates left for our dates, and I just did not feel like paying full price to stay somewhere else.

I keep thinking whether I should save $200/night ($800 savings total) and downgrade to a mod. We've never stayed mod before and my DH is just not sure about the whole transportation and room size thing.

I have a lot of questions!
How are all of you grappling with the construction? Are you all setting expectations with the family?
And what can I expect with the monorail (is it still running on a limited schedule)?
How far is the walk from the great house to GF? To TTC?
What resort(s) does the Poly share buses with to AK, DHS, and BB?
Boat or monorail to MK?
Anyone done HDDR? Did you take the monorail to MK and then a boat to FW?
Any preference given at the new Trading Sams for Poly guests?

We are arriving at the Poly in the early morning hours of the 16th. I am planning to send an Amazon Pantry Prime box to the resort. Has anyone done this recently and how far in advance did you order. I was planning to pull the trigger to order on May 11th.

Going back to the pool restrooms - the East pool is closed while we're there in June, does anyone know if there are restrooms at the Lava Pool? If so are there showers? We always take the latest flight home on our last day & spend it at the pool, but if there's no restroom there to change in, I might have to re-think the last day. I know there's a restroom by Captain Cook's in the hallway, but I don't really want to be dragging my stuff in there from the pool.
There are two bathroom areas now at the Nanae/Lava Pool. The one at the base of the volcano has a shower, but not the new one in the marina building (but that's the newer/nicer one). I'm lazy and prefer to smell like chlorine and suntan lotion all the way home. :sunny:

It's a service of Amazon where you can have a box shipped to you for a flat rate ($5.99) containing basic groceries and household items. Here is a link:

We are flying in. Rather than packing a suitcase of snacks, etc. My thought was to have a few cases of water, pop, powerade and some snacks/breakfast items delivered to us at the resort.

I plan to check in early in the morning on a Wednesday. I'm debating if I should do online check in or check in once I get there. I'm thinking checking in once I get there so I can tell them I don't want a room facing construction even though I requested Fiji.

I would think doing on-line check-in wouldn't do any harm, as you could always change your room if you weren't happy with what you got. At least then, you might get some of your choices from the get-go.

Pool pics!!!

I tried to get some different vantage points, but forgot the most important part - the pool bar! :earboy2: The jets are still there by the seating area by the slide, but they don't work. I asked one lifeguard if they will ever be back on again (why not remove them if your not) and I was told no very abruptly, like she had better things to do (myself and maybe 3 other people in the pool). Also, you can no longer hear music under water. Completely bummed on these two missing elements.

Get used to that orange rope...

I agree. I liked it (used at CSR) because I could look up my room before even arriving at the resort to see if I liked my room assignment.

That is great! we need to know if this can be accepted by the resort (don't know why it woudln't be)

You can look up your room assignment before even arriving at the resort? I didn't even know that was possible. Very cool! :-)

Yep! I had the resort map with room numbers on my phone and I received a text as soon as I landed. It was awesome!

Is this what you meant @1971DBday? Or did you get the room number in your text anyway without paying in full?

Could one assume then, with all criteria met, that this room would have met your online check-in requests?
