I have a family member who is unnecessarily competitive with me. If I do something, she has to do it before me. If I buy something, she has to have it too. If I go to Disney, she has to get there before me and there are 1000 reasons why her trip is better than mine will be. :rotfl: I love her dearly and I don't say anything because I value our relationship more than my ego or being right. She said something to me that did not seem right and I know I will not say anything to her either way.... if she is lying she knows it.... but I am curious....

She said that she booked her FPs for her trip as normal at 60 days out and was able to use those, but when she got to Disney, she took an old MB with her and was able to book 3 extra FPs each morning using that MB from her previous trip. I get that the MBs are technically good until the battery dies, but I thought the MBs had to be linked to a park ticket, not JUST an MDE account to book. If that were the case, I could go into MDE using my older MBs (there are 4 of them) and book FPs for a trip. She does not have an AP, she buys a regular hopper.

Anyhow, that does not seem right to me and I am curious if this is a "one up" story or if she was actually able to do this??

It's certainly possible to do.
No ticket needs to be scanned-in for (nor does a ticket need to be connected to) a MB in order to work for making and using same-day FP+.

But, that old MB needs to not be connected to the same MyDisneyExperience profile to which that person's current MB is connected.

More HERE.

And, even if a MB has a dead battery (none are old enough yet to have a dead battery) it can be used for same-day FP+.
(That RFID section of the MB is "passive" and gets its power wirelessly from the Mickey head touch-point scanner.)

Yes it's possible. We tried this, but only one one day for our last trip. A MK morning after we finished our first 2-3 hours of itinerary with no waits. At other parks, it just wasn't helpful. I'm sure if you went at rope drop you could book some decent FP, but I didn't want to miss out on the shor RD waits.

Will this method work with AP's? Or does a separate ticket have to be purchased and at least one day be added on the second set of bands?

It's an ethically scummy thing to do.

So was having runners get fp-
so was pushing the button on the back of fp-
so was not returning at posted times or days fp-

The disboard is going to find all kinds of ways to cheat the system, no matter what system.

Personally I have 6 old magic bands that still work and I might try it to see how well or if it does work. Im curious on personal level.

Crowd levels will be 4/5 prediction, so more then likely I will not need fp+ on separate bands to ride what we want.

Ethical????? Maybe not.... but then again I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Just to be clear, are you saying that having a FP runner or using a FP late when a CM told you to do so was "ethically scummy"?

what are your thoughts on this issue? have you done this? im going in september and i feel like its wrong, but i feel like so many people are doing it. i still kinda dont get how it works but i get that you get 6 FP+ ahead of time, instead of three like the rest of us.

how do you feel about this???

You can only get 6 ahead of time if you have ticket media associated with 2 separate MDE accounts.

so i went to disney last year and i have my magic band still. i booked my trip this year connected to my same MDE account, are you saying i cant do it then?

There was a button on the back of the old FP machines that CMs would use in case your card got stuck, didn't pump out a FP when it should of, etc. If you pressed it, a FP would come out automatically..

Well the rules where the owner of the ticket inserted said ticket to get a fp-, plus running in the park at top speed is great way to knock kids over.

Cm broke the rules too with whatever time to make guest not complain. It was against the rules.

Plus I have done all the old tricks of fp-. More then likely I will try all the new fp- ones too

I never realized that! That would be over the line for me though, I'm all for loopholes and strategy, but that just feels like stealing, lol.

Agreed.

I would never do that either. I would put that one in the "ethically scummy" category, completely different from the others listed.

And while I was usually our FP "runner" I never knocked anyone down, nor did I ever see anyone knocked down.

That's correct. That old band and your new bands will both link the same account. They are both just keys to the same lock. You would need bands attached to 2 separate accounts.
