Hollywood Studios Refurb

Is it true that Hollywood Studios is getting a refurb? I know there is going to be a name change, but is it true that they are adding new attractions/lands and giving the park a makeover. I would love to see this happen! I feel like HS has lost its appeal and relevance over the years.

Nothing official but lots of rumors

Most we've gotten is Iger's slip that the name will be changed. Now, I have to think they aren't just going to change the name - again - without some significant refurbishment/renovations/improvements/re-imagining.

Now, once actual details are announced, we can (and I'm sure will) debate their merits until the cows come home. But we're just not there yet.

Interesting. Another reason I feel like they are planning a serious refurb is all the attractions that have been closing recently in that park.

DHS has always been an enigma to me. On one hand, so many attractions have closed down and it has some still there that are at the bottom of my list of favorites. On the other hand, it has 4 attractions that are in my Disney Top Ten (ST, ToT, RnRC, and TSMM).

I know exactly what you mean! It's not a park I would want to skip, because I love thrill rides, but I've never been able to spend more than 3 or 4 hours there. I would love to get a new appreciation for it, like I had as a kid in the early 90s.

the rumors I heard were additional Star Wars content, possibly where Muppets 3D is right now. I heard a Mos Eisley Cantina restaurant is the first thing planned, with a second Star Wars ride in the future.

In the Catastrophe Canyon area, they are apparently putting in a large Toy Story themed playground. As opposed to the Radiator Springs Racers I was hoping for...

I heard from a management cast member at HS that they will announce star wars land during star wars weekends this year.......

Hmmm...

I would hope...if they were ever gonna try and pump up a specific IP to move merch/product...this would be a logical spot to do it.

I'm still gonna stick with trusting the shovels...I'm not convinced they want a huge "mass crowd" at studios...don't think they ever did.

Especially not with the money pouring into AK and the new mall being built.

One would wish that it would be Star Wars Weekends as that would be really neat to announce something like that during one of those events.

It wouldn't surprise me if more of Disney Springs and all of the changes to Animal Kingdom will be announced at D23. The new Frozen changes at the Norway Pavilion might also be given a mention there.

The DHS rumors have been pretty strong as of late. And the shutting down of attractions, along with moving the Frozen Singalong and the new flex theater that is going to be built between ToT and RnRC, all point to something on the horizon. Also, I have, as of now, read from several different sources that the Echo Lake area of DHS is going to be going away soon. There is definitely something brewing. It is unfortunate that it has to be at Disney's epically slow pace.

I would expect the toy story play land from Paris coming over to add some capacity then the Star Wars area on the whole "left" side of the park

The other thing I heard was that the new Star Wars rides were delayed by the movie's production delay because the new ride is going to be solely based on the new movie. They want to promote EP7 not the first six after all.

I see a joint Star Wars announcement for Star Wars in disneyland and WDW at D23. I also agree I think we'll see more AK info and Disney Springs info.

That is the rumor. Except it wouldn't be exactly the same some different types of toy story rides would also make an appearance.

They wanted to incorporate the new films into what they are doing. I don't think the new attractions will be solely based on the new movie tho.
