Thank you very much for checking!Yesterday I was booking our FPs for our May trip. I could book PotC for 5/10/15, but for 5/11/15 it shows up as down for refurbishing.

The ride is in very bad shape so it's many fixing things that are broken not changing anythingWhat's being changed?
Yes this is true. These boats were not actually supposed to be for WDW they were intended for DL. DL tested them and then said they didn't want them so of course WDW took them no problem. A lot of people come off the ride soaked. There is also a lot of effects problems like you said and animatronics that don't worm. Many insiders says this ride needs 6+ months but we are getting the bare minimum 4.5 months.I keep hearing from various websites that the boats are taking on a significant amount of water throughout the ride. Thus, creating a slippery situation making entry/exiting the boats dangerous.
Rteetz - Are you hearing the same thing, and is there anything more to this? I know some of the effects (i.e. the projector w/ fog at the beginning of the ride) are also very unreliable.
It makes me sad to hear Disney is putting band aids on problems. If they would go back to obtaining sponsors for attractions and putting money into the park guest wouldn't be disappointed,
They needed a long time frame and needed it done before the holiday rush. There really is never a good time at disney for a refurb anymore because it's always busy.To do this in the middle of the summer is nuts. August-November would be a better time. Much less traffic in the Parks.
Disney doesn't want to close this ride anytime of the year. But when it comes down to it, it's becoming a safety concern. The ride closes due to problems daily. It needs to be done fast. If one ride makes your disney vacation then your doing disney wrong it's about the entire experience. Disney already is short cutting this refurb. The ride needs a good 6 months or longer and they are only giving it 4.5 months. You can go from mid august to first week of December and have the same amount of time for refurb. In years past Disney would never had closed a Marquis ride like pirates over the 3 busiest months of the year.
Sure sounds like Pirates needs the love!Disney doesn't want to close this ride anytime of the year. But when it comes down to it, it's becoming a safety concern.
