Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

I have a question about ADR's. Are they really that necessary? Are we talking about on the ship? Or at the resorts? Is this for Remy?
I'm a bit confused as to why the rush?

I'm a bit confused as to why the rush?

Those of us making reservations are going to the parks either before, after, or before and after the cruise. My family checks in Sept 5th, so my 180 day mark is Monday March 9.

The one reservation my husband and son demand is Ohana so I will be online right at 6am on Monday to book, so I get a decent time. We will also be booking Kona Cafe for Monday morning before we leave for the boat. I have to have my Tonga Toast :) It will be so easy to get to both of these since we gave up our 2 bedroom at VWL to stay in a lake view studio at the Poly :jumping1:

That's actually my question. Is it REALLY necessary to be online the second that the reservations open up?

I am staying at a resort before the cruise. I am not yet sure where I want to eat or what time...so I'm just wondering does that mean I won't get in anywhere or is there a specific list of hot spots that fill up that fast?

Now I'm also wondering if I should take transportation to the Poly for the Tonga Toast???? :)

It truly is important if you want to dine at certain restaurants at decent times. My family LOVES Ohana! It is a MUST DO each trip. It is also a very hard reservation to get, and books up at decent times rather quickly. I've never been in September so I'm not sure if that's the case or not this time, but it will be a holiday weekend. I'd rather secure it early than worry about it later. Le Cellier, Chef Mickey, and Be Our Guest are other examples that fill up VERY quickly. I've always gotten what I what when I wanted it, but I will be online right when it opens. I'm obsessive like that

Love me some tonga toast! Last trip I was sick and had to cancel my breakfast there :( I will make up for it this time!! Maybe we'll see you there :wave2:

Good to know about Be our Guest, that is where I want to have lunch when at the park on Sunday. So that will open up on Tuesday then?

Good to know, thanks for all the info!

Same as you for the resort - the 5th.

Then you can reserve on Monday for your entire stay. The rule is 180 days from check in, you can then book for up to 10 days (180+10) if you were staying that long.

I'm not sure how they are doing lunch at BoG. It used to be a FP or first come but I believe they recently changed it to an actual reservation. Maybe someone else knows? Or you could ask on the Restaurant board. We went there for dinner last year and don't plan to go back so I really didn't pay much attention when I saw the article show up on my newsfeed.

:welcome: WELCOME TO OUR CRUISE BOARD! :welcome:

If you would like to participate in the Fish Extender Exchange, please post the names, ages of children, and stateroom number. You may also include your home city and/or state, any special occasions that you will be celebrating during the cruise, and favorite characters (not just for kids!). The list will be updated as soon as possible, and all updates will be made on this post. The list will be split into smaller groups on June 28, 2015 (just after final payment date).
Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the advice. You say you don't plan to go back. Because it wasn't worth it?

We went to dinner for my daughter's birthday meal. It was great to see the castle and at dinner you get to see the beast (no autographs), the food was just ok to all of us. The dessert was very good. Especially, the grey stuff, it's delicious lol! It was a neat experience, but we look at it as been there done that. Of course, to each his own. You may love it, and like I said it was a neat experience.

If I had to pick a meal at MK I would actually pick Liberty Tree Tavern (I believe it is being closed for refurbishment, not sure on dates) or travel by monorail to one of the monorail resorts for dinner. I've never had Crystal Palace, but a lot of people like it.

We did the Crystal Palace for lunch when we were there on our honeymoon....not impressed.

I will look into Liberty Tree Tavern and maybe get dessert to go at Be Our Guest....

Thanks for the info!

If it's what you really wanted try it!

Also like I said, it's fun to travel to the monorail resorts for dinner and then go right back to the park :)

Butsy113 - are you a DVC owner? I am looking at the option of renting points. Was just curious. I noticed in your profile it shows AKV owner

Hay what day are you booking Ohana? I get to start my reservations on Saturday :cool1: We are also going to Ohanas just don't know which night yet..:scratchin:scratchin

Yes, Animal Kingdom is our home resort. If you are wanting to rent, check out David's DVC Rentals at dvcrequest.com :) He has a lot of great information. If you are wanting to rent around this cruise you would need to do it sooner than later. It can be very hard to get into a resort the closer you get.

We are wanting to go on Sunday night. We are planning on doing AK in the morning and then coming back for dinner and the evening at the pool.

On the surface it seems like a good way to get good deals. I suppose if free dining would be offered at this time with a rental we would not qualify. I still have more research. Also looks like you pay extra for clean towels.

If you want daily housekeeping and clean towels every day, yes you will have to pay for it. You do not qualify for free dining with DVC unless you book through Disney with a cash reservation. If you rent points, you can purchase the dining plan through the person you rent from. I really don't know much about the dining plan though, because we never use it.

I finally started working on making my family's fish extenders and I thought I would share my progress! So far I think they are looking good!
