Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Any advice for those traveling alone to the race?I thought it wouldn't bother me, but the more I think of it, the more anxious I become. The idea of walking alone to the bus stop in the dark is suddenly not appealing to me.

There will be others out walking o the bus. It creeps me out too, but I have done it…last year three mornings in a row. And less than a minute you will see others…and the buses are full and it is a huge line off buses to start. It isn't too hard to chat some one up. Most are friendly folks.

On another note…all the Northern gals should be ready for the chilly start to the 5k tomorrow.

Argh, Trackshack is having website problems and my malware programs won't even let me got on. Printing at the Expo won't be an issue, right?
They have printers. When you enter the building for bib pick-up they'll be there, just ask a CM. :)

Have fun!

I was really hoping I wasn't going to get the same weather I've been running in for the past few months ...
(At least there's no snow in Florida ... I hope)

Hi Everyone! First off, good luck this weekend to all the runners!

Second, I apologize if this has been asked already, but I can't seem to find an answer or suggestions on how to go about this....

I had a question for all those that might be spectating this weekend - My sister is running the PHM this weekend and my mom and I will be spectating. My sister runs at about a 13min/mile and has been placed in the "I" corral (so we think...we'll have confirmation when she picks up her packet tomorrow). My mom and I would like to be able to see her running at MK and see her at the finish line. Any suggestions on when we should head out of the hotel to see her at these locations? Do buses fill up that we'll need to wait for a couple? We're going to be staying at POP and have already signed up to track her, but I'm a little worried about transportation being cut off from 5-7 a.m. I'm not sure it's clear to me if that includes transportation to MK. I'm thinking that at her pace, we should be able to see her at MK at about 7 a.m.-ish assuming she starts at about 6:00 a.m.

Thank you!!

Just in time for the Half... I slammed the car door right into my face yesterday. I'll be running with a spectacular black eye and swollen face. If you see me, say hi! If I had time, I'd assemble a pirate's costume to go with the look lol

Sorry to hear 'bout that...but at least it wasn't your foot that got smashed!

Good luck to all the runners this weekend!

DW and I will be volunteering on-course for the 5K and running for our Glass Slippers on Saturday and Sunday.

See you on the course. I'll be the person in the very heavy coat tomorrow morning! :)

Oh no!! Ow! I'm so sorry!

Corral placement has been posted by BIB number.

Bib number is on the waiver, which is available via a search page here. Put in your sister's last name and birthday to access the waive and use the bib number to determine corral placement.

The corral placement for PHM is here

The corral placement for GSC is here

Don't forget to sign up for tracking:
"Sign up for Runner Tracking or text "DISP [bib number]" to 72147."

There is a section on Spectator Viewing in the PHM guide, available here. Page 53.

I'd go EARLY to EPCOT, then take the monorail to MK. Get to MK as early as you can as it gets crowded and has CHEAR SQUAD-only sections that limit the viewing areas, but anywhere on Main Street is good. I like being at the far end from the castle so you can get photos of your runner with the castle in the background -- if they will stop for 5 seconds and turn toward the camera! Then walk to the castle exit point and get a second picture as they come down the ramp.:thumbsup2 There is usually enough time as there's a loop the runners take through MK before coming back to the castle.

Getting to MK early will give you time to get coffee or breakfast while waiting. Several shops will be open:banana: so you don't have to stand at the race with nothing to do!

Have a magical time and best wishes to your sister on her race!!!

Well, ladies, this is it for me!! Flight leaves at noon tomorrow and I need to finish up work and pack :) It's been great to be part of this thread - everyone is so knowledgeable and has been so helpful! Good luck to everyone running this weekend - it's gonna be a blast :jumping1:

There won't be transportation to the MK that morning, as I understand it.

I spectated the Princess Half Marathon last year, staying at the Wildnerness Lodge. We (my other two friends and I) were at the bus stop just before 5 and were informed that there were no more buses coming. We ended up taking a cab to the Magic Kingdom to catch friend #4.

What @PJ in FL said is what I would do - BUNDLE UP and take the bus from POP to Epcot (maybe when your sister leaves that morning , if not, definitely get on a bus by 4:30ish) and from there take the monorail to Magic Kingdom. Stake out your spot and get ready to wait - we brought snacks but there were definitely a couple of carts open and Casey's, if I recall correctly.

We saw our friend come in after a couple of hours and then headed back to the monorail to go to Epcot. We saw her twice more going around Spaceship Earth and then met her later back at the resort. The runner tracking was really wonky that weekend (I don't understand why because it worked will in January), but she was texting us - mile marker 5 is right outside of the Magic Kingdom so when she let us know she was there we knew she was close.

It was REALLY fun spectating - first time I had ever done it. :) Have fun and good luck to your sister!

Yes please, a princess half shirt color…I am trying to decide what color shorts to bring to wear with my shirt Sunday.

Half marathon shirts are pink with the princess logo on the front. Also, those looking for Dooney, they only had the small clutches left as of 2:00 pm today and not many left.

Just back from the expo and slightly panicked! Last year for GSC we got wristbands. I didn't get one this year, but didn't think of it. I had to go all over for GSC and 5k stuff and I think I would have noticed if there was anywhere to get one. Looked in the program and it doesn't mention anything about the wristband either. It talks about it for coast to coast, but not GSC. Can anyone confirm th process has changed this year? I can go back tomorrow if I have to, but hoping don't. I'm not good with pics, but here's what I've got for the shirts: 10k is dark purple with Turquoise and pink. 1/2 is bright pink with turquoise, GSC is silver/gray with turquoise and gold and yellow. I will try to figure how to post a pic!

Did you go through the picture line for GSC? I'm doing PHM only so I don't know for sure, but I saw some confused runners waiting for pics up there!

I had no intention of getting a dooney, but then I saw the pink on the strap. And crap. Bought a crossover bag at 2pm and they had those and the wristlets continuously coming from the back. The satchel was sold out about 1:45 (and at least one woman was NOT pleased!)

Yes I did go through the picture line. I'm hoping that's where the difference comes in. I wish I had thought to ask why we were doing that this year, but I didn't. I had the whole family with me and my daughter really was anxious to get her stuff. Totally forgot about the wristband from last year until we're back at the hotel.

For the GSC last year I think it was ID by your bib..at least that is what I remember. Your bib should be in the 20xxx's and that is the identifier. I don't remember a wrist band or if there was it was given when we finished 10k. But I just remember being directed to the GSC medal area.

Thanks for the shirt photos
