Going the end of October with a friend and they're gonna be disappointed!!

i agree on bot sides. POTC is in desperate need of a refurb as well as the sometimes working buzz lightyearI think they did a service of the ride and found it to be in quite a state of disrepair. It's a shame it will close but it is probably needed badly. Buzz Lightyear is terrible.
Not confirmed yet just rumored. When is it supposed to shut down exactly? Which date?
Again not confirmed likely end of spring and open in fall if it does.Does anyone know the date it will be closed? We're visiting in March and would like to try it for the first time
everybody here is a debbie downer,if you are going to disneyworld everybody just go and enjoy yourselves,if you listen to these people on this site you will get discouraged and might want to end everything and just sit at home, quit crying about one or two rides down, believe me ive been over 100 times and there is plenty to do.Its Disney they are just going to keep increasing prices. I think the problem should be is they keep rising prices why can't they fix these things to make sure they work properly. Disney used to be a company where if something didn't work or wasn't show ready it wasn't used or fixed right away. Today they wait until the last possible second to fix these things and do it as cheaply as possible.
I agree 100% it's very unlikely that all shows, rides, etc. will be open during every day or even one day of your stay. I have never let that bother me. Yes it's disappointing but you roll with it. It's practically impossible to do everything even in a weeks stay.everybody here is a debbie downer,if you are going to disneyworld everybody just go and enjoy yourselves,if you listen to these people on this site you will get discouraged and might want to end everything and just sit at home, quit crying about one or two rides down, believe me ive been over 100 times and there is plenty to do.
Interesting I don't think its been officially announced that its going unde for refurb. This is been a strong rumor. I looked from May 10th on it didn't have any times available. It didn't go past mid August at all. So no insight into when it could possibly reopen. I would expect they want it open for the holidays of course.I am in the minority here (or so i think) i want it to be down when we go. I love this ride, but with the getting wet issue we have been hearing about i am not really interested in riding but it is not going to be easy to convince anyone else in my group it is a bad idea
Also the first date POTC shows no times available on Disney site is May 11, if you search attraction from May 10th its listed, on May 11th it is under closed for refurbishment.... this is just what i see on the site.
This is true. We were there in October for 12 days and got to ride it only 2 times that whole time period. It was down for most of the trip. I will never fuss when they shut something down to make it better. Its going to impact someones vacation, there is no way around it. As far as raising prices is concerned, I WOULD have issues if they kept raising prices and let everything fall into shambles. JMHOI do agree with you. If a ride needs an entire year to work and look properly, then take the whole year and fix it. It simply has to be done.
This is a daily occurrence this ride needs this refurb. We were there yesterday and had fast pass for POTC. While waiting, they announced they were having issues and thanked us for our patience. 20 minutes later they announced they were closing the ride down and for everyone to get out of line. It seemed to be open about an hour later, and then closed again shortly after. I asked a cast member what was going on, and she said it is constantly having issues and they'll be closing it for refurb soon (she didn't say when).
It may appear in good shape but how many things do you know for sure were not doing anything that were supposed to be doing something. Did the mist screen with projection at the beginning work that is very problematic. Also doesn't sound like you ride it very often to know what's supposed to work and what doesn't if you just realized their is more jack sparrow. The ride hasn't changed in years. The boats also tend to carry a lot more water than they used too. The boats don't always use the last row for various reasons either. So many problems that many don't even know exist.
I don't think that was a major refurb only maybe a couple weeks or a month. This needs a gutting, boat fixes, cleaning, animatronic fixing etc. this needs the rumored six months for sure. The boats I believe are only like 2 years old. The problem with them tho is they were built for Disneyland well they didn't work there WDW said well take them and ended up with them. The last major refurb was the addition the Dead Men Tell No Tales plussing. That wasn't that long ago. Three, four years ago??? So yes, it has changed recently.
That being said, when we were there in November, the mist was not working any of the days, but the rest of the ride was operating well. Last row was not in use do the gentleman that decided to get his fingers crushed IIRC.
