Sports: Deflate-Gate

I implied that I believe that New England intentionally used deflated balls. I believe that
and am entitled to, and I believe there is enough evidence to inVestigate and I guess the NFL feels that way as well.

well, I believe Indianapolis started the game with overinflated footballs, and all the game balls lost pressure.

When are all the critics going to push the NFL for a complete investigation?

The question of over-inflation by Indy did come up. Like Rodgers, Luck prefers getting more carry on his throws.... Apparently. Which to me would be a greater offense. All this carrying on by the NFL is just lip service -they have already came out and said the Refs never checked(or logged)the balls before the game. They can investigate all they want, but the end result is clear. There are two solutions to the problem -start checking the balls(like you were supposed to) and have NFL representative manage the balls during the game, or just let the QB's decide how they want them inflated and leave it at that. Enough QB's have come out with different preferences that it's pretty obvious that no two QB's like the same thing.

The Patriots got the idea to run these plays from games earlier in the season run by other teams. It is a legal play and other teams run them as well. The only play from that game that has since been declared "illegal" was when the ineligible player did not go off the field for one play before coming back in and declaring himself an eligible receiver. He stayed on the field for both plays. But these plays are legal and used often.

Help me out it show me where it is now illegal?

The play is not illegal, but now the Refs have to handle it differently. They now have a signal that they have to use to declare a player eligible. Basically, they are handing the Seahawks a free pass which is BS. The fact they they are helping a team to defend another team is crazy. If you want to add this in next year, that's fine -you can toy around with it in the preseason. But to add it prior to the Super Bowl just shows how little control the commissioner has ...it's been a real bad year and it's getting WORSE by the minute!

Well the signal in the Baltimore game was kind of obvious too. They pointed at Vareen and told them not to cover him. The main point was familyoffive was just plain wrong.

I beg to differ. See the play is illegal if the declared player doesn't leave the field for the next play, unless there was a timeout called or other stoppage of play. The NE Patriot player failed to leave the field for the next play. Thus, the actual play that took place was ILLEGAL due to the Patriot player's own failure to understand the rule and be substituted out. The Patriots should have been penalized 5 yards from the previous spot and the touchdown should not have counted.

Yes, on that ONE PLAY, it should have been a penalty. All the other times that style of play was fine.

And I wouldn't use the word illegal, any more than I would use the word illegal for a late hit, off sides or anything else. It's just a play that should result in a penalty. Which, AGAIN, is hung on the refs for not doing their job, not the Patriots. And let's be honest, the refs miss penalties in EVERY game, no matter who is playing.

I thought you were talking about the substitutions in the Ravens game -yes that particular one should have resulted in a flag. But so should have all the holding calls that the Refs missed!

I totally agree! Says the life-long Detroit Lions Fan!:headache::furious::sad:

Oh yeah, you were ROBBED! ::yes::

I was never so happy as the day the Cowboys lost in the playoffs. :cool1:

And that one call? Karma baby!!!!:banana:

I love the Pats, I'm not going to lie. But I don't hate the Seahawks either. Russel is pretty darned awesome.:thumbsup2

It's the evil, cheating Patriots though. Obviously everyone has to make it a bigger deal than it really is. It's all the Patriots fault, not the refs. The refs can miss penalties for other teams but if it's the Patriots it's obviously a pattern of cheating. They are cheaty, cheating, cheaters. :rotfl:

Just to set the record straight, and hopefully end all the speculation by Patriot-haters. Did everyone hear that Jeff Blake(former NFL QB) came out and said that EVERY team does it, EVERY game.

What really strikes me as odd is that Montana would have stuck his neck into all this -sounds like he is taking advantage of every last opportunity to protect his legacy as the greatest QB ever. Not showing much class in your old age, Joe! But I hear he is going to have a new title as the greatest pizza dough tosser EVER!

Great Joe. At least we still have Ickey to idolize.

I think Aikman is doing a great job of making himself look like a tool too. Maybe he should have retired before that last concussion.

I think the concussion actually occurred in one of the Orlando strip clubs he used to hang in.
