Vodka is definitely needed in the lounge. Mix some of that with the delicious Stormalong Bay Breeze drink they have in there now next to the iced tea and lemonade and it would be the new Sunken Treasure! YUMMY!!! The SAB Breeze is a mix of sprite and something else....cranberry juice maybe?

Stormalong Bay Breeze- Sprite, Cranberry and Pineapple Juice, I believe.

Any chance you took a picture of this? I know you are gone now, so it is too late to request this from you...

:goodvibes

Any word on the refurbs that are supposed to be happening? I know beach club is supposed to be first and we are looking at Bc for our December trip. Is this going to be an issue?

:welcome:

Please let us know if you decide to come to the BC in December so I can add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

As others have posted, we are not sure exactly when the refurb will start or how long it will take, but it really shouldn't disrupt your trip. If you are still concerned, though, you could book at YC instead.

:thumbsup2

On page one there is a picture of a particularly nice looking dessert. Is bar shaped with a custard/pudding looking base, what appears to be cream, and then a chocolate cookie like top, and a raspberry. Where would one find this and is it still on the menu at said restaurant?

ps-is ok to add me to page 1

Is this the one- from Captain's Grille?

IMG_0336-1.jpg

I think it is the key lime tart, and I think this picture was taken during my July 2010 trip. Rasberry puree on bottom, key lime filling, decorated chocolate on top. Not sure if it is still on the menu or not.

If this is not the one you are talking about- let me know which post the picture is in.

:)

This is my first post here. I'm about to make myself crazy trying to decide what is best to list as a room request for our first trip to BC Water view Aug.2-Aug9,2014. I've been researching photos here and on lines. Still unsure. Here's my family history. We have always stayed Poly (4x's) but bc of construction decided it was time to try BC. We are so excited! Me, DH, DS17, DS14,DD12. DS17 uses a wheelchair almost all the time. I was unable to get a handicap accessible rm w the summer disc. They assured they would send up a tub chair and it would work w safety issues bathing. At Poly we always had a ground floor Roll-in either facing beach/lAke/or beautiful flowers. DS17 medication prevents him from being an early riser. Therefore, we always let him sleep in and take turns venturing out in the mornings til he wakes. Therefore, we found the ground fl nice w all the comings and goings. But it seems the best views are top floors if I'm not mistaken? We are welcome to balcony and something new. I'm just not sure. It's so nice to have a great view while relaxing and waiting for him to wake up. Does anyone have any recommendations? Sorry for my ramblings!

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Yes, the better water views are probably on the upper floors.

I think I have seen just one or two first floor water views (actually the one I am thinking of is probably YC), but it was pretty.

Best bet is probably "Full balcony, please" or if you think you would enjoy a patio, "First floor, please".

August is going to be pretty crowded with the discounts going on.
Teena had some good advice about offering to change rooms if you don't get your request(s) and if you are willing to change rooms during your stay.

:thumbsup2

Hi, everyone. I have loved reading your thread. Is there a thread for July and August? We are staying at BC for the first time in August and are sooooooo excited.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for August

:yay:

As others have indicated, the dates in the title of the thread just refers to the months the thread is active. Sorry for the confusion. It is really helpful to me to keep the threads straight if I am going back to look for info in a previous version of the FAQ thread.

:goodvibes

Just checking in. My family and I got back a few weeks ago from a wonderful stay at the Beach Club. It was amazing as ever! Glad we got to see you Teena!

Hey, you didn't let us know you were coming!!! Well, maybe Teena knew.

Glad you had a nice time.

:woohoo:

I'm so excited that we are finally staying at the BC -- even if it is only for 3 nights

We're doing our first split stay -- 7 nights @ CSR w/free dining and 3 nights @ BC dining OOP.

I'm most excited about SAB. We've eaten at CMC (H's fav) every trip and my girls ALWAYS ask about SAB and now they can finally go in!!!

We're keeping the BC part a secret. I can't wait for them to thin that we're leaving only to hop over to another resort AND go to MVMCP!

We will depart CSR on a Saturday and we're using that entire day to get to know the resort -- so hopefully the weather works with us! Our plan is to have a quick breakfast in the club lounge at CSR and then head over to the BC. I doubt our room will be ready, but at least we can enjoy the resort while we wait.

I'm going to make a conscious effort not to "wish away" our CSR stay, as it's our first time staying there, too -- but I can't wait to finally stay at the BC!!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for November.

:cool1:

Officially booked September 24-29, 2014 at the YC! We reserved a Garden View room. Any recommendations when doing online check in? There will be 3 adults, first time at a deluxe.

Here's an official :welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Since you are 3 adults, are you looking for a daybed for your stay? If so, you may want to request "Daybed, if possible- 3 adults sharing room"

:thumbsup2

Hi everyone, I have a question about the use of pool noodles at SAB. I understand pool noodles are acceptable to use at SAB but inflatables are not permitted. I found these things called twisty tubes and they are basically like an inflatable pool noodle. Does anyone know if these would be acceptable to use at SAB? It would be easy to pack them instead of regular foam pool noodles, but if they aren't permitted since they are inflatable I'll just leave them at home and get some of the regular ones instead.

I am pretty sure we wouldn't be able to use these twisty tubes at the pool, we will just save them for use at the beach, but I thought I'd throw the question out there just in case I'm wrong.

Good question- I think the rule against bringing your own tube/inflatables has more to do with the lifeguards' visibility. So I would think something that was the size/shape of a foam pool noodle would be fine (but I'm not positive)

Wanted to give you all a heads-up that my latest trip report chapter (mostly pictures) is all about Stormalong Bay, and a certain, special green beverage.

I am so excited that we will be staying Beach Club Sept 12-18!! We have not been there for 3 years and have been doing trips on the cheap, but have decided its time to go back to our favorite home!!

Now just waiting to see what AP rates are, might bump us to CL if we can get a std on discount!

Glad to be back as part of the group :)

:welcome: back!!!

:yay:

So glad to be adding you to the Be Our Guest list.

Has it really been 3 years???

For anyone interested I have started my trip report for our stay at the Presidential Suite! It is titled Major Pixie Dust! Presidential Suite at the Beach Club!!! It is a work in progress, I hope you enjoy the pictures!

As requested some pictures of the Presidential Suite. Hope you enjoy them.

Thank you so much for the heads-up and the pictures!!!

Hello! Just got to BC this afternoon and it's been good so far. Had lunch at Hurricane Hannah's and a storm came up quickly and it really felt like a little hurricane.

Do I remember reading something that you can see the Hollywood Studios fireworks from here? Is it anything special once the Star Wars weekend happens?

Thank you for checking in with a live report!

:)

On Star War weekends there are special fire works. We watched them from our balcony at the BC. They were really good.

I think the Star Wars Weekend fireworks, New Years Eve fireworks (if they have them) and private parties are the only times you can see pyrotechnics at Hollywood Studios from the Yacht or Beach Club. I don't think you can typically see much from Fanatsmic!

:)

Amazing pictures. Can't believe we will be there in less than 3 weeks!!!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed them!

:)

First time at Beach club in November the 15-22nd! I am so excited to stay here it looks wonderful!! Really counting on some warm enough days to spend enjoying the Pool with the kids! Anyone know if the pools are heated enough to swim in the event the weather is colder than usual? I know I have to stop worrying but this trip is such a splurge financially and I just want it to be perfect! Our first family trip to Disney without any grandparents along. Looking forward to just the 5 of us:)

yes, the pools are heated. Here is the info about the subject from the FAQ post (Post 13) on Page 1:

My trip is in December (November/January/February). Will it be warm enough to swim in SAB?

That depends. Where are you from?

The weather and temperature in Florida can vary greatly in the winter months. One day you are bundled up in coat and wool hat. The next you are in shorts. You can have extreme conditions in the same week.

The pools at Disney are all heated. The problem is usually not when you are in the pool, but it is the air temperature when you get out. Make sure you have a towel close by.

There is certainly a chance that one or more days of your vacation will be warm enough for swimming. As Scar so eloquently sings in the Lion King "Be Prepared!"

Pack your swimsuit and hope for the best!

It's official, I just put the deposit down for our very first Deluxe stay at the YC from 8/30 to 9/2! :cool1::banana: We are local and go to WDW every few months so we usually stay at a mod (CSR - our home away from home). We almost always take a stroll through the International Gateway on our Epcot day's and enjoy the YC/BC beauty and DH always swoons over SAB! We couldn't pass up the magical deal, so we booked it! I am so scared this is going to ruin me for life with staying elsewhere (non-deluxe) :rotfl2: To be able to go as often as we do we really aren't able to swing a deluxe trip every few months but if this deal happens every year then maybe we can make it a once a year thing  we are SO excited! :yay:

ME TOOOOOOO!!!

Just back from work, and I know I am several pages behind here! If I haven't had a chance to welcome you yet to the thread, I'll get to you in the next day or so.

As requested some pictures of the Presidential Suite. Hope you enjoy them.

These pictures look suspiciously like the "made-up-in-our-imagination" Fantasy Suite where those of us never really wishing to leave the resort hide out in our minds as we dream of the resort and our next visit.

Housekeeping did a fine job of cleaning up all the passed out people decorating the Fantasy Suite due to downing dubious quantities of Sunken Treasure from the large capacity Sunken Treasure tap. You have to hit the secret panel and a hidden room will be revealed that has Johnny Depp, Matthew Mc-Come-Here-Hunny and that hunky guy Scott keeps stationed by the pool. (I forget his name... Dawn would know!)

There are also bunk beds for the overflow guests as we never know who will be having a crisis upon departure day and will decide to run away from their families and live vicariously at the Beach Club.

My favorite new addition to this room are the secret reach through panels that eliminate the need to walk all the way over to club level to procure a snack. You just wave your hand in front of this panel, it slides open and you are reaching through from the back wall to grab some bacon wrapped hummus or what ever it is that is out. Some speculate that this is why the food disappears so quickly, almost sight unseen at times!

We were last at this Shangri-La in December 2012 and we went swimming on the days that it was sunny out. The pool was heated but it did not feel warm to us, especially in some areas. The sun did a tremendous job of keeping us warm in the pool. If it was cloudy out we just ran for the hot tub.... Keep in mind however that there is always the hot tub to warm you up if the temps are not to your liking. I think in November you will be fine, especially on a sunny day. Our December temps were highs in the mid 70's up to 80 degrees during the warmest part of the day so it was about what was expected at that time. November will be warmer so I'm pretty sure you will get some pool time in. Another thing that people never seem to consider is that the quiet pools are shallow and in full sun and way warmer than Storm Along Bay. When we went in June of 2011 the quiet pool was so warm it was like a hot tub during the day!

So the bottom line is that predicting how the pool will be in November depends entirely on the weather. December was iffy as in "iffy" it was sunny we were going but "iffy" it was cloudy we took a nap or just hit the hot tub. The weather in Florida can be really warm in December one day and way cooler the next. I'd bet that you will definitely get some time in the pool.

Trying to hold on to the same weather pattern in Florida is like trying to store a feral cat in a wet paper bag... Since Florida is a peninsula with oceans on two sides weather seems to blow in and out rather quickly compared to other areas of the country. So no worries or fretting.... it will all work out some how and at least you won't have to deal with the 2pm rain storms like you get regularly during the summer months.

(Florida weather in the summer= rain from 2pm-ish to 6pm-ish then clear unless the front is a big 'un.)

That's the one thanks. It looks really good. Hopefully it will be on the menu when I get there. If not, then I'm sure there will be something equally delicious. But that one looks fantastic. Thanks.

Thanks! It sounds like we should at least get I'm some pool time. I rember being there in November a few years ago and it being warm we just didn't take time to enjoy the pool at POR. But one of our main draws to the BC was the pool! I will try to stop overthinking it all and enjoy whatever comes:)

And from the FAQ archives, I have dusted off the blueprints of said Fantasy Suite

Ninja and Dee, too funny! I remember all of that!

Floridagirl, I'm reading your trip report and really enjoying it! Good to hear that Neil was great as always. He's really the star of BC CL!

What's the latest on the BC club lounge renovations?

*nervous*

The "I rip all the whimsy and Disney Magic out of hotel rooms" designer has struck again!

On the BWI board, the first photos posted today of the new room decor there, and for me, with BWI being in a neck-and-neck race with YC/BC for my favorite resort, I'm so disappointed! It seems thrown together, mismatched, and like at the GF, it looks like you could buy most of the room appointments at Target!
(No judgement on Target btw...just not what I expect in a room charging $400+/night.)

Whoever this designer is, must be stopped! No really.
He/she is getting his/her hands on our beloved BC/YC next!

Oh how wonderful the day dreams of the Fantasy Suite with the Grey Goose Slushie machine right next to the Illuminations viewing area... :goodvibes

I am one of the most tolerant people in the world when it comes to all things Disney. I love just about every inch of the place unconditionally, but I agree with you Scott, that décor is really uninspiring. It really doesn't say Disney, other than the splash of Boardwalk on the curtains.

Could be worse though - the bedspread could be a larger than life image of the pool slide (shhhh, don't say the word "c_ _ _ n".)

Unfortunately I did not think to ask. Hopefully someone else can give us an update.

What's the latest on the BC club lounge renovations?

Neil was really great on our last trip in September, my daughter lives in Wesley Chapel near Tampa and Neil is from that area also so we had a nice conversation with him. On this last trip he was there again and he remembered us because of the Tampa connection.

We were in the lounge having some snacks when I got the text that our room was ready, so when I went out to the CM desks, Neil was there. I told him that I had received a room number and it was 5643. I knew that there weren't any Deluxe CL rooms on the 5th floor so I asked him if this was an upgrade and told him my room number. He asked to see my text message so I showed him and he seemed to be excited for us!!! He asked where the rest of my party was and I told him they were in the lounge. He went into the lounge with me and told my group that he was escorting us to our room:cool1: He gave us a very detailed tour and made us feel special.

Stayed at BWI CL in 2009 when it was just refurbed. Loved it. Seeing the new pictures - WOW. Holiday Inn.....What is with the drapes with existing wallpaper? Bed runner?

We left my new favorite resort (YC) for CBR today. I'm less than inspired. Between the lack luster accommodations and dreary weather, we aren't feeling very magical. I'm hoping a good nights sleep and a sunny morning will help us make the most of the rest of our vacation. All those who recommended doing the moderate first and then deluxe, you were right...
We did not have a choice this trip, but if we ever switch categories again we will definitely do it this way. All in all, it really has been a wonderful trip and we've made many more Disney memories!
