So, I have an ADR for Tusker House for breakfast tomorrow at 10am. How much time should I plan to travel out to AK to make it on time? I'm not even sure where to catch the bus.

Thanks!

I think if you are out at the stop by 9 am you should be all set. The ride to AK is about 15 minutes, the walk from the AK bus stop to the restaurant is about 20-30 minutes depending on how fast you walk. That leaves an allowance of a 15 minute wait for the bus, which I think is sufficient for that time in the morning.

Are you BC? To get to the bus stop, you go out the front of the lobby (parking lot side, not lakeside) and follow the sidewalk on the left, past the antique car and turn the corner (left) to find the bus stop.

It's official, I just put the deposit down for our very first Deluxe stay at the YC from 8/30 to 9/2! :cool1::banana: We are local and go to WDW every few months so we usually stay at a mod (CSR - our home away from home). We almost always take a stroll through the International Gateway on our Epcot day's and enjoy the YC/BC beauty and DH always swoons over SAB! We couldn't pass up the magical deal, so we booked it! I am so scared this is going to ruin me for life with staying elsewhere (non-deluxe) :rotfl2: To be able to go as often as we do we really aren't able to swing a deluxe trip every few months but if this deal happens every year then maybe we can make it a once a year thing  we are SO excited! :yay:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

We left my new favorite resort (YC) for CBR today. I'm less than inspired. Between the lack luster accommodations and dreary weather, we aren't feeling very magical. I'm hoping a good nights sleep and a sunny morning will help us make the most of the rest of our vacation. All those who recommended doing the moderate first and then deluxe, you were right...
We did not have a choice this trip, but if we ever switch categories again we will definitely do it this way. All in all, it really has been a wonderful trip and we've made many more Disney memories!

Wishing you sunny skies for the rest of your trip!

:sunny:

Leaving today! We'll be hopping on a cruise ship tomorrow, then after a week we will get off and drive up to the Darkside for a couple of days, before ending our trip with a week at YC. So excited!

See you guys on the beach.... ;)

Double Digits!!!! In 99 days we will be strolling to Epcot, swimming in SAB, and sipping a drink at HH!

So.....we are staying GV. I really want to be right around the main courtyard in the back and I would love to be on the 1st or 2nd floor. We like it closer to the ground level and they have the full balconies or patios. Last time we were as far from the lobby as you can get and we'd like to be closer this time. Is this too much for a request? I think I need to pare it down. Maybe just the first 2?

1. Lakeside Courtyard View
2. Close to the lobby
3. 1st or 2nd floor

Are you on the Fantasy. We jump on the Fantasy tomorrow. It would be greet to meet up while we are cruising.

Added a day in August. It's now Aug16-21.

Have fun on your cruise Teena!!

Neil was really great on our last trip in September, my daughter lives in Wesley Chapel near Tampa and Neil is from that area also so we had a nice conversation with him. On this last trip he was there again and he remembered us because of the Tampa connection.

We were in the lounge having some snacks when I got the text that our room was ready, so when I went out to the CM desks, Neil was there. I told him that I had received a room number and it was 5643. I knew that there weren't any Deluxe CL rooms on the 5th floor so I asked him if this was an upgrade and told him my room number. He asked to see my text message so I showed him and he seemed to be excited for us!!! He asked where the rest of my party was and I told him they were in the lounge. He went into the lounge with me and told my group that he was escorting us to our room:cool1: He gave us a very detailed tour and made us feel special.

That is exciting!!!:cool1:

No, we were looking at that cruise, but couldn't pass up a fabulous deal on Princess (in a suite!). So we'll be sailing the same dates, but in and out of Ft. Lauderdale.

Hope you enjoy your cruise! We sailed the Fantasy 2 years ago and it was wonderful!

Have fun Teena - much deserved vacation no doubt!

Hope to see you on July 7th afternoon when we check-in. The Richter family is coming back. Not sure if you will remember us since we have not been there since Dec of 2012. We will be the family of 4 without a stroller ;)

Are you planning a trip to Walt Disney World some time in the next few months?

Are you prepared for the summer weather that awaits you?

Do you know what to pack, what to expect, and what to do when it RAINS during YOUR vacation?

Well are YOU in luck!!

'Ol Ninja Mom has a link to a post that will give you a good idea of what to expect weather wise during your Summer WDW vacation. In this article you will find a local news station weather link that you can book mark on your 'smarter than you are Phone' so you can get the local and regional weather info in real time.

That makes sitting on those aluminum benches waiting for Fantasmic to start a whole lot less riskier if it looks like a storm may or may not be moving in. Consult that weather link on your smart phone and you'll be the first to know when to beat feat and be first in line for the bus BEFORE the show eventually gets cancelled.

As an aside to this article, NOW would be a good time to start breaking in those new sport sandals you are going to be wanting to wear in the scorching heat of mid-summers-day in Orlando. You can do that on those walks you are supposed to be taking to get your piggies in park touring shape. You're taking those walks... Right??? :rolleyes1 Trust me, it will be so much better if you did. Just a half an hour every other day will do wonders for your fitness level and park touring comfort levels.

Also keep in mind that Sneakers take a few days to dry when they get wet and since it regularly rains in the afternoons for a brief time during the summer you know you are going to have to fall back on plan B for the footwear to dry out... and you are taking more than one pair of footwear...RIGHT? (Husbands I am looking at YOU!)

Remember the rain usually hits between 2-6 pm and it can be a brief sprinkle or an extended downpour... it all depends on what turns up on God's wheel of fortune. Some of the smarter ones also realize that the best time to hit Storm Along Bay is Before this rainy period, say from 11 (or earlier) to around 1:30pm. The parks are open later at night during the summer and going then when it is MUCH cooler and way less crowded makes putting that late morning pool time on the touring schedule a workable option. The wait times for the rides fall off drastically after the fireworks happen and the majority of people leave the park.

It's summer and if you are going to WDW during this time period you are going to experience "Face-of-the-Sun" hot temperatures during the mid day hours. I am talking OMG is that the Devil over there sun bathing HOT!

What to do... what to do!!!

Well here's a tip! = (go to the parks early, come back before lunch then go out again at night)

Yeah, yeah, yeah... EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS!

But which parks are open early or late and which parks have those extra magic hours and what day is this park the least crowded, etc, etc, etc...???

If you are a psychotic Uber planner like Ninja Mom then you need a reliable information site that lets you have at all this information in advance. I find that a good touring plan is especially important during the high heat months. Experiencing low wait times and efficient touring is just the thing to help when it's devil hot out.

WHERE do we get such information you may ask???

Ninja Mom loves this site:http://www.easywdw.com/

Here you will find time tested advice such as what order to prioritize your ride schedule so as to avoid the long waits:

http://www.easywdw.com/cheat-sheets/disney-world-cheat-sheets-maps-touring-plans-and-wait-times/#more-11013

And schedules that tell you what the park hours are for your visit: http://www.easywdw.com/category/calendar/08-august-2014-crowd-calendar/
...that link sends you to August but on the main page over on the right hand side is a link for each month.

In the first paragraph of that monthly update on the Easy WDW site you will see a link to the TRAVEL AGENT calendar that Disney provides detailing the park hours. Here is a link to August's park hours as an example:
http://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/ParkHours/WDWTravelAgent_august.pdf

This is a week by week accounting of what the hours of operations are for the various Disney parks and AT THE BOTTOM OF EACH OF THOSE PAGES IS A SEPARATE LISTING OF THE EXTRA MAGIC HOURS THAT EACH PARK WILL BE OPEN FOR. So you have to add that in to the original park hours listed for each day above.

This Easy WDW site is regularly updated with the latest of park changes so it is in my opinion your best source for operating information, touring plans and the occasional restaurant review and breaking park news. I find this an invaluable tool in my Walt Disney parks vacation planning. I hope that you find it helpful too!
