So I got my 'yeah you! 60 days out pick you fp+' e-mail today. This will be our fourth trip in just under 4 years and it all just sucks.

This was supposed to be our take it easy trip. First non deluxe dining take it easy, enjoy ourselves and bounce around happy fun time no schedules bonanza.

Given my FP/FP+ combo testing from our last trip, I was already not looking forward to being forced into Fp+ only but now that it's upon us... I want to cancel the trip.

Our touring plans make fp+ at MK a night mare. We'll spend 4, possibly five days in MK as it's our favorite park.

I think the only way to hit WDW from here on out will be completely off season with crowd levels of 3 or below.

Given unbiased reports of some friends , changing on site with crowd levels over 6 is difficult at best.

It could be worse, I could be living back in FLA and stuck with an AP right now.

I have been through your level of mourning. We choose to not be in the MK midday but for a parade or special event. We FP+ evening slots and use opening and closing times to avoid crowds. This plan may not work during rolling closures...

If u go a lot and u said u want a "take it easy" trip so why not just wing it. No plans no nothing just go. Do whatever get on whatever. People watch. Just chill and hang out. That's my idea of a take it easy trip. Hotel hop. Those r our best trips. Even with kids now. I wouldn't let u get it down and the more u try to plan the past passes the more u will get upset. Just go and be. And be happy! I bet u would be.

It's all in your attitude. Go planning on having a great time or go thinking the worst. It's up to you. :scratchin

:confused3 I'm confused...... I would LOVE to have a vacation planned for 60 days from now and also have on the plans 4-5 park days.

No one is FORCING you to use FP+. Yes, FP- isn't available, but if you want to take a relaxing vacation, why are you stressing about the FP+ situation to begin with? Like another poster said, why don't you just take it easy, not plan so much and enjoy just being in the parks, seeing the details, spending time together, plan some nice dinners, etc.? You said you would be spending 4-5 days in the MK, thats a lot of time to be able to spread out seeing lots of different things in one park without having to schedule and go commando.

I just don't get posts like this. If you really are that down about going on a vacation in 60 days, why not just cancel? Like I said, I would LOVE to have a trip in the works, it just confuses me so much that people are upset about going on vacation?? :confused3:confused3:confused3 It's vacation. It is what you make of it. No one is making you to do anything.

Just my opinion - from someone in the north (where it's currently snowing for some reason) who has no plans for a vacation to WDW anytime soon, but would literally love to just go down and just BE there right now.

This.

It could be even worse than that, you could have no foreseeable vacation in your future whatsoever.

If you say "I want to cancel the trip" and it seems like you pretty much know that you aren't going to enjoy it.... Then why not cancel? Plan something else during that week that you will have the ability to "take it easy"?

If you really feel that way I think you should cancel. You can always go back after all the quirks are ironed out.

I know for me and my family we love having plans for each park. My husband always tells me when we are in Disney "just go and I'll follow you" lol. If your not happy then cancel and find something that will make you happy.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like fun. You stay home and relax. I'll take one for the team and go in your stead. :thumbsup2

I completely agree with this. FP+ really isn't the end of the world, and certainly no reason to want to cancel the trip completely - especially when you will be spending several days in MK anyway! I guess I feel this way because I have never heavily relied on FP to begin with.

Good luck finding when that is - maybe the week or two after Labor Day. We thought we were going off-season in February (after President's Day week and before spring break). There were way more people at the parks than anticipated, including lots of school-age kids, foreign visitors, etc. Hate it that we're not bound to school schedules any more, but we still can't get a break from crowds.

Best you don't go then.

If you go wanting to have a terrible time, you will and you'll probably affect others with your cr@p attitude.

Do us all a favour - cancel and go elsewhere.

I don't understand how the email made it go from bad to worse. Was there something in there you weren't expecting?

Having 4 days at MK means you could pick 12 different rides to go on for sure when you want or if there's one ride you love, you could be sure to do it every day and you wouldn't need to be there for rope drop. Sounds more relaxing, overall.

We did our 60 day FP+ this week, no problems. We took the strategy of getting later FP+, thinking we can do standby when we first get to the park.

Taking it easy, hanging out and seeing the details... that's what Fp allowed. Grab a FP and then grab lunch or shop near by, people watch... whatever.

Time spent waiting between fast passes was time better spent than standing in lines.

Dreading Disney is different than dreading vacation. Disney is a tradition of our yearly Florida vacation. Why shouldn't I be disappointed Disney decided to ruin it for those of us who knew how things worked and utilized the system?

Of course people who didn't /hardly use(d) FP before don't understand. How could they?

Don't use fp+? lol, gladly if I could trade it for regular FP. Can't.

Having used fp+ already, waiting until the day of isa horrible idea as well.

Ah what the joys of being a newbie right now would be... to quote cypher "ignorance is bliss".... or is it?

To the OP,

Look, I think I'm known on here as someone who doesn't like FP+. I was there during Thanksgiving and again at the end of February. After our Thanksgiving trip I was actually considering selling our DVC points. During our late Feb. trip we had a great time, but we did some things differently.

I just really think you need to ratchet down the expectations of what you expect in the parks. Don't worry about riding something multiple times. You are actually doing something that FP+ will help you with, slowing down and seeing other attractions. Plan on spending more time in your resort at the pool, or doing other things (like mini-putt, Richard Petty ride along, etc.).

You can have a great time, but it's ultimately up to you.

Note, this does not mean I like FP+ any more than before. It's just that I've changed my mindset about how we will vacation going forward. I can definitely see a time where we don't even go to the parks any more due to crowds and lines.

IMHO, FP+ is a much better system for those who like to have a relaxing trip. You get to select your own times, PLUS you can shift them around. If you have your time come up and the standby is relatively short, you can use the FP for something else. If you don't feel like crossing the park to get to a time, or if you get stuck in a meal and miss your time, you can easily move it. The new system is so much more flexible than the old. While I do wish they would increase the max per day at MK to 4 or 5, I can say that this system is a huge improvement over the old, and we used FP- aggressively. As with everything in life, some will hate the changes and some will love them, but hopefully most people will be in the middle, and figure out how to use it to their own individual advantage.

Right? Poor me....I have to go to Disney....lol.

Why are they ruining it for you? I've been going for years....Fast Pass plus has changed the way we tour...and honestly for my family it means a much more relaxed way of touring and we like it better.

We went in December not having any idea how Fast Pass would work for us and I told the family..."there's a new thing and it might change how we do things...but I have no idea". We all went with an open mind and made it work for us. If you know how the system worked before and how your family likes to tour...it's seriously not rocket science to schedule a few fast passes. :confused3
