Dream/Fantasy 8A cabins

We enjoyed the same stateroom for our November 16 Fantasy cruise and agree with your review completely! We had room 5522 last November 2012 and agree that we like 5520 a tad bit better - mostly because of the longer desk and arrangement of the sofa bed as you mentioned. I honestly don't think I could sail on the Fantasy or Dream again without booking one of these 4 rooms. We're spoiled now. And we didn't miss not having a balcony at all. Thanks again for your great review and pictures!:thumbsup2

You're welcome, and thanks for your feedback. It's nice to hear that I'm not alone in my opinion.

Just thought i'd add mine of Dream 6514 while I was here :goodvibes

This is the exact room we are booked on for October, 2014! Boy did we luck out! So excited!!! Thank you fir sharing pictures!!!

This thread has been very helpful but I have a question - We have booked room 6514 on the Dream. However, I noticed I can get two inside Staterooms (connected) for basically the same price. We have two young kids (6 and 3) and I think the two rooms would be nice. This is our first cruise so any opinions from experienced cruisers would be great!

Thanks!

We stayed in 6512 on the Dream this year and it's pretty much the same layout as 6514. We would pick this room again hands down. The space was wonderful. My boys 10 & 7 had plenty of room to relax and play around. The only downside to these rooms is the bathroom. There is no bathtub, just a walk in shower. If you need the tub then I would suggest moving. That's the only draw back to me.

Thinking of booking this room cat. for our next cruise. First time on Disney. Can a adult comfortably fit on the couch bed in these rooms?? Thanks in advance.

I would check your reservation if you plan on having this room. :( I booked 5020 after much research because I cannot afford a 1 bedroom suite and I have an autistic teenage boy who is very private. He would be very upset sleeping in same room as me and his sister. I was so excited and have not been on DCL in 6 years due to budget. I just checked my reservation and they moved me to 5018, which doesn't even have a privacy curtain. This is for our Christmas celebration Dec 20-27. My son will be devastated and I am certain he will not go. I could just cry. He will be just before his 18 birthday and graduation. Our last family trip. Just devastated. And DCL is closed right now and I cannot call them.

I was on the Fantasy in October and slept on the convertible couch. I am short so that was not a problem but I am over 50 and will say that the couch is definitely not as comfortable as the bed. Another traveling partner in our party mentioned her discomfort to her room steward and was given an "extra" mattress (I think it's something like a memory foam topper) which she said helped quite a bit.

Wow. If you had that room booked how could they switch you? We have 5520 and 5020 booked for our June cruise and I would be so mad if we were switched. I booked them when the cruise opened for reservations and have it paid in full , I don't see how they could do that.

They can and do move people, sometimes as an upgrade and sometimes within the same category. If you do not want to be moved, call and put a note on your reservation. Last cruise we had an 8A booked and were moved to a 5B, so a nice upgrade, but I really want an 8A for this cruise so I put a note on my reservation not to move.

Wow thanks for the info. I will call and add a note. Thanks!!

My daughter and I have these as connecting rooms. I hope that having them linked for dinner, port adventures, etc will decrease the odds of them moving us or moving us together. I would be upset at losing these rooms, but I'd be more upset at being separated.

I don't see anywhere in the contract or terms that once booked and paid for that they can switch your room. I can see them offering an upgrade but just to move you I don't understand. Does anyone have the facts on this ? I still might call to be safe. :)

They can and do move people on a regular basis. There was an entire thread dedicated to it floating around sometime ago.

We are planning a trip for Jan. 2016 on the fantasy and want this category. We were planning to book in 2 weeks. Should that be early enough to get one of these rooms??

You can always see what the availability is like by going hrough the first steps of a booking on the DCL website. select your date then the 8A category (assuming it is available), then "book". on the next page that comes up you can click on a link that will let you choose your stateroom ("add a stateroom" i think it is called) and it will show you all the rooms available in your category. you can close out the browswer without continuing, or go back and choose another date if the room you want is not listed.

we are looking at some specific dates in 2015 and have done this to narrow down our specific cruise options -- e.g. for some cruises 8A is not available at all, for others our preferred rooms are not even though others in the category are. fortunately we have flexibility in our dates.

I completely understand! But don't be too discouraged! You have solutions!! There are great extension rods that will run the width of the room (very small, ya know :) ) and you can ask for a sheet to clip on with those shower ring holders...it'll work if they can't move you in, explain to your room host...it'll take up little room in your luggage and provide a cool separater for your ds! Best of luck!

there are only so many 8A's on the ship, its a very small number, so if there is one you want and it is open now I would book it now and not wait. if you don't care which cabin or if you get one for sure then you could wait.
again, if you want it for sure book now. they can be very hard to get.
