YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

Wow, the Mayor sure was...handsy! :rotfl:
Loveee your Dooney! I spent about a half hour trying to decide what pattern placement I wanted for mine, so I admire that you were able to pick yours so quickly!
I can only imagine how delightfully overwhelming touring the DS was-- totally understand not getting photos of everything, even though I know you must have really wanted to!
Can't wait for more!

Note to anyone interested in reading about someone's experience of actually staying IN the DS. Read littlenellbelle's Boo To You and The Castle Suite Too TR linked in her signature. :)

That was sweet of you to give my report a shout out!

I'm not going to lie it was absolutely amazing to be able to stay there!:cloud9: But to get an unbelievable surprise tour like you did is just so awesome! Now that I've stayed there, I'm pretty much obsessed with this suite! LOL I know I'll never be able to see it again, so I'm so excited to see your pictures and hear about your experience.

You should write suspense novels - you really know how to end a post on a cliffhanger! Haha. Can't wait to read on. What an amazing experience!

I hesitate to even comment again since I know you will graciously reply and that will slow you down on getting that next installment in!! But, I wouldn't want to withhold well deserved praise either. I continue to adore your TR and am truly amazed at your people skills, your memory for names makes many CMs happy I'm sure.
Keep it coming! (Now off to check out Rob's new TR, I didn't realize he had started!?)

I miss a few days on the dis and I'm like 10 pages behind here!! Hehehe!

Like everyone else, I can't wait to read more!!!!

!

Thank you for asking and the answer is YES. I just need to get this one farther along so I can begin a 4th TR/DR! Crazy huh? I just want to get this one beyond the Dream Suite part.

I met so many Disers and had some great firsts since this was our first time to visit WDW during the Christmas season. And yes, there was a sweet upgrade but not until we changed resorts later in the trip. ;)

I'll let everyone know here and on my DR when I start the December one. In the mean time you are in luck because I posted my first "dining review" for our Dis cocktail meet up on the live dining threadhere. Since I'm participating in the finale of Jabead (Barb's) report you'll see at least the dining portion of our trip on that thread.

Thanks again for asking! :goodvibes[/QUOTE]

Brenda, thanks for the teaser preview of your next report... You are going to be having a crazy time with three reports and planning your next WDW trip

OMGoodness, Brenda!!

What an amazing day, even before the tour!! :goodvibes

I'm so excited to see what y'all got to experience. Hope we get a chance to talk soon. :)

There's only been a handful of times where I've been wishing and hoping that I read an update late and there would be another one already posted. :rotfl2:

To say all us readers are waiting with bated breath to see what's behind the door would be an understatement. :goodvibes

Man, that mayor...you gotta be vigilant with your attention, he's quite the little frisky one. :rotfl:

Love your purse. I agree, the Marie charm isn't one you see too often and would be too could to pass up. And I'm sure it was the thrill of the moment that led you to make that kind of purchase. I'm like you, as well, and take forever to decide to buy something "for fun." But doesn't it make it so much more special when you do make that purchase? :goodvibes

Wow! I would have though the park closed at the earliest 10 during the holiday week. Being the uber planner that must have been an "I told you so" moment going off plan!

Yeah, spontaneity can have its drawbacks :rotfl: It worked out well for most of us but it really caught us off guard!

But you do it! And you don't half heartedly run! You are all in and I'm ever so impressed. Your 2 runs were 2 more runs than mine. I go in phases but I'm getting into an I like to run again phase and not just I really need to lose this 10 lbs so I'll punish myself by running phase! You can afford a little gluttony. You always look fabulous.

Thank you, not sure I agree, feel a bit beached whale after the trip..or puffer fish :rotfl: but that's to be expected I guess. Not so sure about the half heartedly. December was pretty brutal to stick to the schedule I'd like and well, I truly despise running in the dark. I actually skipped my run yesterday. Between all the kids events this weekend and needing to de-decorate the house, and unpack...the running took a back seat (plus it was nasty out!). I'll pay for it today though, now I have to run in the dark tonight to make up for it but I did enjoy the golden globes a lot more knowing the vast majority of the house was put back together.

So close! We're at the door of the suite now! ;)

Yeah I would have been ecstatic too if I was just offered a private tour of the Dream Suite! Fully equipped with your own photographer!

And wow about the Mayor. Never met the guy myself but your encounters with this man is painting a not so positive picture of him. :rolleyes1

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Just letting you know I am still around! Can't wait to hear more.

I wanted to thank you again for sharing the link to Dean's book. I found it in my mailbox today over lunch. The one and only problem I have with the book is that it's so good I've barely been able to put it down and I'm nearly done with the book. What a wonderful book and has been a joy to read. Will be hitting up his website later this week to order copies for the rest of my family that travel with us. Now if only I can keep it to myself until we see them at Easter! Thanks again Brenda, for your travel reports and for Dean's. Lovely to see how both sides of Disney lovers gain so much from "the world".

I've been waiting to read this report for a while (It's hard to read any when your writing one!) and I'm super excited for the next update. Also, I also love Layla perfume! I had to wait 2 years to get a new bottle on our trip this past November but now I wear it everyday as it reminds me of the World!

That is great you got to tour the suite. Can’t wait for the pics.

Wow Brenda, What a great day you and Em are having!!!!

I love that first picture with Dean and his wife and you and Em covering your eyes. So cute!! Actually all the pictures are so great, it looks like you are all having such a wonderful time. :)

OMG!!!! How exciting to get the news that you get to tour the suite!!! I think I might have passed out if someone told me I could go in the suite. :faint:

I have read littlenellbell and DisneyJo's TR's about staying in the suite so I know what it looks like but I really can't wait to read about your experience and see what you took pictures of.

I would probably be running around in excitement. :)

Looking forward to your next update. :yay:

Oops! Sorry I missed your comment in my earlier responses. :)

Thanks it was a pretty awesome day but thankfully I didn't faint!

I had to read both Jo and Kristy's reports since I was curious to see what the heck it was like to actually STAY in the suite. Definitely beyond amazing and my little hour in the suite doesn't compare.

Ok, Brenda. You have rested enough after all the carpeting laying and painting and work stuff. What is behind the door!!!!!!!! I'm dying here. :lmao:

Seriously, wish I could get my rear end motivated to do all that. But we just repainted and stuff last year. Right now I am just needing to take down the Christmas decorations. After being on vacation for two weeks I am still trying to catch up on sleep and the DIS. But it will come down today.

Can't wait to see what is in your next update! :goodvibes

And now my excuses are updating my other two reports, date night with my hubby, and working! I know, I know.... enough with the excuses. I hear ya!

I hope you had a great trip and are catching up on your sleep!

WOW! I, like a previous poster, skipped ahead when I saw Day 8 appear and I am beyond excited to see what's behind that door. AND I'm totally going to be pointing it out to my kiddos when we go there this August. You know so many fabulous Disney people, and it must have been so exciting to be there with them in such a magical place. I will now go back and read the last few days before this waiting not-so-patiently for an update. LOL.

PS...trying to put together a Disneyland Spring Break trip....Jess' twitter updates have me so nostalgic to go back.

Hi Cara!! I completely understand... let's get to the good stuff.

Gosh, Jess was crazy with the updates on Instagram and twitter. She definitely was having a great time. Come on out at Spring Break, DL is an awesome place to be! :)

Hi Brenda,
I don't post a lot on the boards, but I had to tell you how wonderful your trip report is!! I can't wait for the next update.

Hi Tinkercc! Thank you for letting me know you are reading and following. I'm thrilled to welcome you! :goodvibes

Brenda, I read your last trip report and LOVED it and admittedly just stumbled upon this new trip! I can NOT wait to see the pictures and read your commentary on the castle suite :cheer2: You two sure know how to do Disney! I was shocked and thrilled for you with the upgrade at the Yacht Club to the Admiral's Suite last trip and now a tour of the castle suite! I can only imagine what your next trip will hold!

Hi Polylover! I'm so glad you stumbled on this TR too! Thank you for reading and letting me know that you are following along. It's truly great to welcome you here. :goodvibes

We have been very lucky with some of those special surprises. I think we are running out of things to top those two you mentioned. :)

I agree! The horrible bus situation at park close is why we seldom saw the fireworks at MK when staying at the BC and never saw Illuminations when staying at WL. Our favorite things to do are walking into Epcot from the BC to watch Illuminations and walking to the beach at WL to see Wishes. It is the best of both worlds. :)

Deluxe resorts really get a bad deal when it comes to buses.

I think I know where the door to the Dream Suite is, but I'm going to check it out next time we are there. And I'm going to look harder at the castle windows, too. I want to get idea of where everything is in the castle. ;)

Hi Sue! (I can use your name now! ;)) When you have to think twice about staying for the fireworks that's frustrating to not want to deal with Disney buses. I love walking back to the Epcot hotels after Illuminations. We saw Wishes from the boat dock at WL - not a good spot.

After I saw it I wanted to get the perspective of all the doors, windows, and rooms as well.

Hi Kylie! Handsy and kissy! For sure.

Ha ha! I had pressure to make a quick decision since we had to be somewhere not too long from then. :rolleyes1 Otherwise, I may have never decided and walked away.

I feel like I could have taken 500 photos of the DS and it still wouldn't have been enough. And yes, I wanted to but I kept getting distracted with other things.

That was sweet of you to give my report a shout out!

I'm not going to lie it was absolutely amazing to be able to stay there!:cloud9: But to get an unbelievable surprise tour like you did is just so awesome! It was my pleasure. You have the ultimate TR here on the boards at this time!!

Thanks Kristy! I'm glad you are still following along. :)

Ha ha! Thanks Jill. I do my best. :rolleyes1

Keep it coming! (Now off to check out Rob's new TR, I didn't realize he had started!?)

Hi Pimama! But I'm glad that you DID comment! That's so sweet of you with your kind comments. :)

I just look at the name tags! :rotfl2:

Yes, Rob's started his TR and it's sure to be amusing and entertaining as always.

I miss a few days on the dis and I'm like 10 pages behind here!! Hehehe!

Like everyone else, I can't wait to read more!!!!

I'm glad you're still following along Amy! I'm ready to get that next update posted so you should see it shortly.

Absolutely LOVE your TR! It's the highlight of my day! Can't wait to see more of the Dream Suite (you lucky girls!).

Thanks PixarPrincess! I'm so glad that you are reading!! :goodvibes Hopefully an update is ready to roll tonight.

!

And coincidently, I just updated that dining thread tonight. See, I really am trying to keep up with all of these!! And the next trip planning is being sadly neglected. :sad2:

OMGoodness, Brenda!!

What an amazing day, even before the tour!! :goodvibes

I'm so excited to see what y'all got to experience. Hope we get a chance to talk soon. :)

Nice people showering us with unexpected blessings...we're so grateful. :goodvibes

I'm glad we chatted! We definitely have something to look forward to this fall my friend.

There's only been a handful of times where I've been wishing and hoping that I read an update late and there would be another one already posted. :rotfl2:

To say all us readers are waiting with bated breath to see what's behind the door would be an understatement. :goodvibes

Hi Alicia! Ha ha! Sorry my timing stinks...:rotfl2:

I may have to wear a disguise next trip so that I can walk down Main Street past the Mayor unscathed.

Thanks, I was sucked into a shopping euphoria so I think that affected my judgment. It likely will be awhile before I let myself be influenced by a beautiful Dooney bag. (Although I saw a HM version on Danimaroo's TR and I'm completely jealous!)

Yeah, spontaneity can have its drawbacks :rotfl: It worked out well for most of us but it really caught us off guard!

Thank you, not sure I agree, feel a bit beached whale after the trip..or puffer fish :rotfl: but that's to be expected I guess. Not so sure about the half heartedly. I'll pay for it today though, now I have to run in the dark tonight to make up for it but I did enjoy the golden globes a lot more knowing the vast majority of the house was put back together.

Let's be clear, you'll never resemble a puffer fish or beached whale!! :lmao: FAR from it.

I won't run in the dark... I run on my treadmill at home before I do that. In fact, I run more on my treadmill than outside. I know that makes no sense. We have Back Bay Newport Beach across the street from where we live but I still mostly run on a treadmill. But I run faster and longer on the trails. Go figure.

:rolleyes1

Hi Dave!! The door is cracked open and I'm almost ready to go inside.... the suspense...

Not sure what type of camera the guy had but it had some wacky contraption that takes three shots at once for some reason... he explained it but it's lost on me. (if someone blinks they have an overlay photo or something like that.)

I feel like giving a warning .... hide your kids, hide your wife, because the Mayor is all up in your Main Street. :lmao:

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Just letting you know I am still around! Can't wait to hear more.
Hi Sandy!! I'm glad that you are still around and following along. I hope all is well. :goodvibes

Been missing for a while and yours was the first trip report I read through...always reading about your trips!

Oh, thank you! I'm so glad that you are reading - still! :)

Awesome!!! I'm so glad that you received it.

When I read it, I did the same thing. Since the chapters were short I decided to read a few... and didn't stop. Yep, finished it too quickly. It's not a big book so it is easy to do. Definitely makes you wish there were more stories.

What a great surprise for your family!

Thanks for letting me know. Since I'm in touch with Dean he does pass his thanks on to people that have ordered the book.

I've been waiting to read this report for a while (It's hard to read any when your writing one!) and I'm super excited for the next update. Also, I also love Layla perfume! I had to wait 2 years to get a new bottle on our trip this past November but now I wear it everyday as it reminds me of the World!

Hi Rachelle!! I'm glad you are reading! :)

Oh my gosh, I love Layla. It's my new favorite and of course it reminds me of Epcot. :) I'm scared that I'll go through it too quickly.

That is great you got to tour the suite. Can’t wait for the pics.

Hi Scott! Thanks.... maybe a quick update coming up...

Friday August 23, 2013: Day 8, Part 5

Prelude to the Suite:
Caroline started the official “tour” with explaining the Dorthea Redmond mosaic tile work on the walls of the castle passageway. Em and I had done the Disneyland Walk in Walt’s Footsteps Tour earlier this year so were familiar with the back story for this artist. But I wanted to hear it again so I refrained from saying, “Ms. Caroline, Ms. Caroline, I already know the story…”

Contrary to internet lore, the DS can’t be purchased. It is a give-away prize and is only occupied a few times a month. Em asked about Tom Cruise having stayed there earlier this year and Caroline explained that it was included in his movie contract. Nice to know. If you ever land a killer movie deal – add the DS to your contract. You will be glad you did. And I will be jealous. Other celebrities have graced the DS but it is usually a promotional arrangement and mutually negotiated. Disney is protective of one of their greatest assets.

The DS was built in 2007 for the Year of a Million Dreams and included this suite as a give-away. Can you imagine if you were a lucky winner? Oh wait! Kristy (littlenellbell) was!! The promotion continued into 2008 due to the popularity. Although Year of a Million Dreams which turned into Two Years and 2 Million Dreams concluded, the suite is still awarded as a prize.

Now to actually step foot into the suite or the entry before the suite…

Breezeway:

Caroline then took out the key and opened the magical door to the suite. When you enter inside it is a lobby area of sorts that is called the breezeway. The room is rather small and contains a desk with an old fashioned phone and magical touches throughout the room. There was a door behind the desk that leads to CRT. We didn’t peek in there because that wasn’t park of the tour.

Please forgive the cruddy photos...I was in "go" mode and apparently didn't stay still enough not to have some blurry photos. I will try to post the decent photos but I will add some not so great ones just for perspective of what I'm talking about. I'm awaiting the big CD of all the photos from Joe since those had to be forwarded through a third party.

The theming and décor of the breezeway matches that of Cinderella’s Royal Table with the tapestries, ornate hanging lamps, high soaring ceilings, and architectural details. Other details in the room are an ornate grandfather clock with the hands frozen at midnight (the obvious significance of the Cinderella story) and a huge floral arrangement on the desk in an urn looking vase. I won’t spill their secrets as to whether they were real or not.

When a guest is in residence they have 2 Guest Relations CMs serving their needs. One CM staffing the desk for their every need and a communication point for anything that they may request/require. A second CM would be their escort and accompany them through the park and server as their VIP guide. An amazing perk in and of itself. Also, if they were selected early enough in the day Dean reminded us that they were the parade Grand Marshals.

We took turns sitting at the desk and having our photo taken. I suggested to Dean that he could pretend that he was doing a book signing at the desk. Not too far of a stretch of the imagination!

Elevator
We were then escorted into the elevator that is to the right of the entryway. It is a small elevator so fitting 6 of us was a pretty full lift. The elevator had tufted velvet walls with an ornate ironwork overlay over the wood panels. The elevator takes you to the 4th floor where the suite is located. From outside, the suite would be right in the heart of the middle of the castle tower above the clock and below the two little stacked windows facing Main Street.

Dream Suite Tour Continued Next Post

I have to post this before the boards take a break for the night...

Very cool! Nice to know how you actually get the suite - follow in Tom Cruise's footsteps. I would venture to say the suite is unoccupied most of the the time. How cool would it be to be the CM working there when it is occupied. The whole suite holds such mystery. How fortunate you were to get to see it.

Darn boards. More please!
