From 8 to 80!Seeing the Magic through a new set of eyes-Updated7/15-NEW TR LINK pg 28

Great pics of BOG! I absolutely loved eating lunch there, I agree its so magical. It literally looks like you walked into the movie, its perfect. I have a ADR there for dinner coming up in February I'm super excited!

Awww, I never noticed that little Lumiere on the back of the menu!

I also subscribe to the "you can drink in the Magic Kingdom so you should" logic. We waited long enough.

The ratatouille looks so pretty! Just like out of Ratatouille, which I just watched the other day.

BOG is about the entire experience. Even if the foods not your favorite, just being in the environment is beautiful enough.

Sigh..... BOG, I just love that restaurant so much. Can't wait to eat there again in February. I hope I haven't built my family's expectations too high for eating there, I think it's all I talk about to them!

One thing that cracks me up ever time I see a picture of that window of Belle and the prince, did they have to make his pants flesh colored? It looks like he is not wearing any pants!

Hahah, yeah, I have a friend who was down there in Sept and said that everyone, including cm's were all "you need to do BOG" and he wasn't that impressed. Mom wasn't as impressed as I thought she would be, but I don't think she actually watched Beauty and the Beast like I told her to! Lol

Ahahaha, I so did NOT notice that!!! Bahaha!

Love that I get my Disney fix thru all your trips... pixiedust:

And I just noticed your ticker that I'll be getting more Disney fixes!!

How did I miss the big announcement that you're going back in 2 weeks??? Who's traveling with you this time???

Haha! Yay glad I'm providing some awesome Disney magic!

And yes!! I don't think I made a big announcement about it. On instagram maybe? I'm going back with a friend who went with me in October! We just got AP's so it'll be a great year!! I'll be taking Oct's trip report onto the end of this one, so you won't miss it, don't worry!

OK, so I got a FP lunch for BOG in December since I figure I have to try it at some point. Since it's quick service I imagine it's more of a find a seat that's available type of thing. But if given the choice you would pick the ballroom? It looks like that's the one with the snow. I plan to look in each obviously anyway, but the snow falling one sounds neat-o. Also... does Beast meet during lunch too????

Wishes is obviously perfect and flawless so nothing I can add there!! Except I can't wait to see it again in 2 weeks!!!!

This is totally true! And YES! GO BALLROOM!! It's the most majestic and awesome and beautiful thing in the WORLD! The snow falling out the windows is so magical! When I was there before official opening last year I ate a table right beside the window and I nearly cried eating lunch it was all so awesome! The WW is cool, and nice to check out, but I'm not the biggest fan of eating in there!!

Beast does not meet at lunch!

Ugh! Yes!! AH! CANNOT WAIT!! WE GET TO MEEEEEEET

What a great evening at BoG! I'm so glad you enjoyed everything so much. It is such a beautiful place.

And seeing the parade and Wishes too - so nice! :lovestruc

It really is beautiful isn't it?! I'll always have a good evening in MK, no matter what, it's still magical and wishes is so gorgeous!!

Good morning campers, are you ready to have an excellent and exciting day as we explore the wilderness?! It was 6:30 when the alarms went off this morning, certainly a little on the early side after being up so late with such a full day in the Magic Kingdom, but that’s okay, we’re in Disney!! I got ready first of everyone, so I said I’d meet them down at the bus stop. Anne and Mom usually used the coffee machine in the room, but I liked to use my mug.

Naturally, I was down at the bus stop with more than enough time to spare, and watched an Animal Kingdom bus pull up, fill up, and then pull away, *sigh* Anne and Mom had not made it down yet. I think it might have actually been this day that after coming out of our building, they went all the way AROUND the lobby, instead of cutting through it, thus coming to the bus stop from the opposite side….weird those two…

Luckily for us, another bus was pretty close behind and we actually made it to the Animal Kingdom right as it was opening! Bonus! Before we even made it through the bag check, we had stopped, lol. Anne had forgotten to bring a hat, and was on the search for one, and since losing her hat the night before, Mom needed one too. I also managed to finally find some post cards here, which was nice as I had characters I’d be meeting today that people needed to hear from! Lol.

Purchases made, although no hats were found, we made out way into the park, and, get this, instead of racing off to the first attraction, we started wandering through the Oasis and its exhibits, actually taking the time to check it all out.

There was a cast member in there feeding some of the birds, and we just explored through. It was really really nice, taking a break from all that rushing to really check out everything that Disney has to offer. I’d always wanted to explore in Animal Kingdom a little bit more but never had the time! This trip, I was making sure of it! I also spotted a fun and mildly creepy looking bridge going into a cave and got super excited thinking it was leading to Neverland or something and ran down it like the 6 year old I am!

Yeah…turns out it’s not that exciting. You know when you’re leaving AK, and there’s that huge rock/half cave thing with a bench in it, that’s where that came out…a little disappointing, but hey, it’s okay.

We came around the corner into Discovery Island and stopped for some quick photopasses! Oh, and today, I definitely had another Disneybound going on, a little bit trickier, but I was the bird from Festival of the Lion King!

Yay! Our group started to make the long trek through to Asia next, I had a coaster I needed to get on, STAT! As Asia got closer and closer, and we neared the forbidden mountain, I noticed that it was strangely quiet in Animal Kingdom this morning. I then noticed that there were no trains traveling through the mountain. Joy. Everest was down…I explained the situation to Anne and Mom and then grabbed some fast passes before checking out the shop and taking a look at the coaster.

Anne stated she’d be more than okay not going on this one, looks like the yeti is too much for her! Mom did say it wasn’t as bad as it looked, and that the drop wasn’t much more than Splash, which we’d done the day before…Uhm…Mom..I think you’re cray, but hey, try and convince her all you might!

Looks like little yeti was just begging to be bought and go on a grand adventure today! Fast passes in hand, and still no luck on finding hats, we crossed our way back through Asia to Harambe, but of course, there was a photographer out and about, and after our lack of pictures at MK, I was determined to get more!

I asked if I could do the Baby Simba shot, and he got it for me!

What can I say, I have a soft spot for a cuddly looking lion! It was now nearing 9am…yup…that’s right folks, the entire extra magic hour was nearing a close and we had simply explored, and picked up fast passes for a ride that we didn’t know when it would be back up. Oh well.

With the desire to actually GET on an attraction, clearly, the Harambe Wildlife Reserve was something that was next on our list! The line was a tad longer than I expected at that hour, but with EE being down, it was getting a little crazy. Lucky for us, right at the end of the big queue, before you start wrapping around and get in the truck, the stopped us, and we were sent the other way with no line right into a truck! Yay!

Our driver was great, and despite not having much of a script to play off of anymore, she was still super fun and informative with all the animals and such!

There were a TON of animals out and about too, I was super happy to see all of them. The last thing I wanted was to not be able to ride Everest and then see no animals!

Elephants are seriously the cutest things, like, I love them. Then, we rounded the bend into lion country, and I was SHOCKED to not only see a lion, but see her with her head up and looking out over the pridelands!

Such a cute little kitty! Right? Lol.

We all enjoyed our two week trip through the African wildlife, and of course, took some time to browse through the shops when we were done! I started tweeting with a friend around here, Susie, also known as beachphotog here on the disboards. We’d been following each other on twitter/instagram for a while, and had some mutual dis friends then found out we’d be down there the same time. I had posted on twitter that we were at AK, and we ended up finding out that great minds do think alike as we were both headed over to FOTLK for 10am!

I really need to explore the Oasis way more than I have. The problem is I arrive, there's, you know, Everest, and when I'm leaving I'm usually rushing to another park. Maybe FP+ will allow a bit more explore time.

I love that spot where you got the second Tree of Life photo. No people in the background. It's surprising how few people get a picture there despite the PP photographer.

Not that I would EVER push anyone to visit somewhere other than Disney, but I have to tell you, if you wanna see elephants... Busch Gardens. You can almost touch them. It's such a long drive though.

Oh wow, GREAT lion shots Katt!!

And oh yeah... SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!! :hyper:

Jim and I did the slow morning thing at AK and it was so nice! I'm going to have to try that more often.

Cute photopass pictures! I love getting some with the tree on the path between Asia and Africa.

Boo for EE being down, hope you were able to get on it later in the day. Good though that you got to see lots of animals on the Safari!

Mom, Anne and I embarked across the park to head towards Camp Minnie Mickey, where the crowd had not been let in yet, and it was insane! Having EE down that morning was really screwing with everyone’s plans, and I know there were even some people who changed their park day once they’d heard, which makes sense. However there are many more wonderful things to do in Animal Kingdom than that, so we stuck around. Once the crowds were let in, we stuck to the right to avoid the stroller parking masses, and then obviously veered completely left, and managed to get a spot right up by the door to the theater. At this point, I was pretty sure I’d spotted Susie, closer than 5 feet in front of us, but wasn’t 100 percent sure, so I was hesitant to say anything, lol. I creeped for a second, and saw that she was on twitter on her phone, and I couldn’t tweet since there was no wifi in that spot sadface! However once they opened the doors I took a leap of faith and jumped over to tap her shoulder, and thank goodness it was her!!

With a new addition to the group we made our way over to the elephant section and started to chat. Susie was in the process of moving down to the Orlando area, which was super exciting, her Mom was with her too, but back at the hotel currently, and they were both going to be at the Halloween party that night, yay!

The camp counselors taught us the hand jive with the help of some audience friends, and then our lovely hosts and fearless leaders were coming out to start the show!

Can we just talk about how quickly that half hour between the doors opening, and the show starting goes?! Like, you’d think that you’d be sitting there forever, but instead its all “OH MY GOSH AREADY IT’S STARTING” like, WHOA!

*sigh* There is just so much perfect in this show, I will always love it so much.

Like, I get chills and tears just thinking about how INSANE it is, especially for someone who’s never seen it before, like you really don’t know what to expect! You walk in and the theaters EMPTY, then the singers come out, and that’s cool and awesome and hilarious. The animals start to come in and you’re all “this is cool” and then like BAM! The curtains open up, EVERYONE COMES OUT, THERE ARE FLOATS AND GIANT MOVING ANMIALS AND SIMBA AND SWINGING CRAZY TUMBLE MONKEYS AND LIKE WHAT?!?!

Seriously perfect. Mom was beyond excited as well as she’d loved the show so much last time, and was super excited to show the tumble monkeys to Anne, remember, the two ladies are on a gymnastics team together!

One day….one day that will be me! It wasn’t my personal favorite of the dancers, but she was great! Bonus!

I definitely noticed some familiar faces in the core dancers, one of them actually being one from Feb that Paige and I really didn’t like, she was lacking enthusiasm, and talking to her fellow performers while she was dancing… stahp! However she did impress me a little more this time around, so that was good!

That tumble monkey was easily my favorite this time around, he was just hilarious, not to mention talented, those guys seriously must have so much fun getting to just be ridiculous! I’m pretty sure it was this time around that we saw something go wrong, nothing major happened, a regular viewer wouldn’t notice but us gymnasts and people who’ve seen the show a million times would, lol.

I took quite a bit of video during the show, and was really just spending the rest of it soaking it all in. I’m sure that you guys have seen PLENTY of pictures of this show in my TR’s before, and I know I took a ton late on, so it’s okay!

This show seriously means the world to me, I don’t know WHAT it is about it, but from the very first time I saw it, I fell in love with it. I could watch it all day every day, I’ve park hopped to AK just to see this show, and would easily do it again. If I’m only going to do one thing in a day at Disney, this would be it. The soundtrack is amazing, the performers are incredible, and just everything about it is perfect. I don’t know if it’s because Lion King was such a part of my life growing up, or if it’s the performance that makes it amazing. I can’t make it through the show without tearing up, if not full on crying. The finale is just everything that is perfect, a perfect summary of all the songs and talent that you’ve seen in the past 15 minutes, all together in one percfect medley, and the music swells as the Circle of Life starts, and that girl, UGH, opens her mouth and starts to sing and every single time no matter who it is, is AMAZING and belting and just the most incredibly talented vocalist ever. There’s dancers, monkeys, stilts, singers, everything all around you, dancing right into the crowds, giving it their all, and then they bring the birds that they use in the Broadway musical out and I’m just done for, like, absolutely DONE for. One of the most intense things on the soundtrack is the echoing BOOM after the “show” concludes and like, I can’t even…#dead.

It was Festival of the Lion King that got me going “I want to work for Disney” I saw that bird dance, and I knew it had to be me someday. For serious, that dream came long before ever thinking about hanging out with a princess, and that dream is far more powerful. I nearly gave up on it after hearing there was a weight restriction, but I know that I can do it, and I know that one of these days I will be performing in the show, even if it’s not as a bird, I would be more than ecstatic to be one of the other movers, just to be a part of something so wonderful would be a dream come true.

Long story short, if you haven’t seen FOTLK yet, GO! GO NOW! YOUTUBE IT!! Just do it, everyone will love it, and it’s so interactive and amazing and wonderful and PERFEEEECCCT….

Also, the birds were great, as usual, but this guy, UGH, he was amazing! Usually the boy dancer, especially in this show, is kinda just there to lift the girl and make her look good, he doesn’t need to be as good technically as she is. But this guy, THIS GUY, was INCREDBILE!! He could jump perfectly, he could turn so well, his enthusiasm and extension and everything was just perfect, and honestly, he was more impressive than this girl was…and that’s sayin something. I’m pretty sure it was this viewing as well, that the girl singing Can You Feel wasn’t the greatest, but in the finale when she did her bit it was INSANE, like, she went all gospel and belty and it was amazing!

Everyone absolutely loved the show, and Anne’s favorite part was the tumble monkeys, naturally. I stated that I would be coming back to see the show again, and they were welcome to join of course, lol. As we made our way out of Camp Minnie Mickey, we said good bye to Susie and that it was lovely to have met her, and I’d probably see her again that evening!! Dismeet number three! Check!!

Where I had left off we were just leaving the Fesitval of the Lion King and saying good bye to Susie as she headed off on the rest of her adventure! Since we hadn’t met any characters yet today, I figured we’d pop down towards the 100 Acre Wood. Man, why don’t they call it that, and have like, ALL the characters from Winnie the Pooh out, that would be far superior! The gang was just headed in for a break when we were on our way down the path, but they were back before you could say “hunny” and we were second in line! Yay! Mom was a little gloomy that Eeyore had disappeared from the greet, but I assured her we’d be seeing him later in the week!

Yup. Adorable. Disney magic right there! Ann definitely knew the Pooh gang, and she loves her some Pooh bear! He was super adorable and “sang” Happy birthday to her and danced around and was just SO FREAKING CUTE. As per usual.

Mom got in on the hugging fun too!

I’m not entirely sure what the heck is going on in this next photo, I look like a giant, and Mom’s clearly concerned that Pooh’s about to headbutt her! Ahahaha. I mean, I get it, that can be concerning a lot with the characters faces, but it’s just hilarious

Next up was of course, my favorite, Tigger! Always loved him, always will, like, he’s freaking hilarious in the newest movie, he cracks me up!

He was super bouncy and danced around with us and I was glad he was feeling tigger-ific today! It just makes it SO GREAT! We did have some problems with our photopass card not scanning at this point, so the photog had me hold the card up while she took a few pictures of it, and just to be sure, I wrote down the exact time it was and where we were so if the photos were missing I could hopefully find them later. It did turn out that they were on the acct at the end of the day though, so that was good!

After seeing Pooh and Tigger we realized that Pooh wasn’t the only one with a rumbly in his tumbly, and hey, there happened to be a restaurant directly across from us, AND, get this; it was the one I had wanted to eat at! Flame Tree BBQ!! Lucky for us, it was only around 11:30 so the lines were pretty much non existent! We ordered, and then meandered around the corner and down a path to one of the further tables.

Anne got the Pulled Pork Sandwich that came with coleslaw, and fruit for dessert!

Mom got the Smoked Chicken Salad w/mixed greens tossed in a barbeque vinaigrette and drizzled with chipotle ranch dressing.

And lastly, I went big or went home, and got the Ribs and Chicken Combo with baked beans and coleslaw. I also opted for the Key Lime Mousse for dessert.

The cast member who had been working at the counter had given us the extra surprise of some BIRTHDAY CUPCAKES. And she’d even been nice enough to throw a third one in for me! Yay!

Since it was lunch time, it was time for a drink, Mom and Anne both got the Safari Amber beer

And I chose the Mandarin Orange Vodka Lemonade

So, how was everything? Well, I absolutely loved my meal, it was all super tasty, not dry or fatty. The beans were tasty, the ribs were delicious, and I even really liked the chicken! Nom! Coleslaw, not so much, but hey, it had a weird “dressing” on it that I didn’t really enjoy, and I’m not much of a coleslaw fan anyways! Mom really liked her salad, she was surprised by all the beans and chick peas that were in it too, added bonus. Anne her sandwich was good, but it was a little too smoky for her taste, she did seem to like it better than the Cosmic Rays sandwich though, so that was good! The key lime mousse was not a winner this round, I don’t really remember why, but I know I didn’t like it… Lol. The birthday cupcakes however, aw man, those things are SO DELICIOUS!! Like, those little vanilla ones are seriously my FAVORITE! I did like that Anne and Mom weren’t too keen on them, MORE FOR MEEEEE!!

As for the drinks, I liked my cocktail, but next time I’d probably go with the beer instead. It wasn’t too boozy, but wasn’t my favorite. The Safari Amber beer however was actually super tasty, it was almost like a fruit ale, like Wraspberry Ale, pretty sure that’s just a Canada thing… It was still beer tasting, but a nice light almost fruit taste to it!

Cost:
Safari Amber Beer: $6.75 x2
Mandarin Vodka: $6.75

Rib & Chicken Combo: $15.19
Pulled Pork Sandwich: $9.19
Chicken Salad: $9.19
Lime Mousse: $3.99

Total Meal Cost: $57.81
We Paid: $20.25

Food 4/5
-Pulled pork too smoky for Anne’s liking
-The key lime mousse wasn’t very good at all this time around
-Otherwise food was fantastic!

Ambiance: 4/5
-I kind of wish there was some indoor seating, not necessarily because of heat or anything, but because of birds, I so don’t trust them when I have food, even the cute little ducks, they can be vicious, lol!

Service: 5/5
-Cast members here were all very friendly and lovely people to chat with that morning
-Gave us an extra birthday cupcake so we’d all have one!

All in all it was a nice lunch, the heat wasn’t really getting to us down where we were sitting, and we had a nice view of the water. It wasn’t super crowded or crazy or anything so we took the time to finish our drinks and I caught up on our trip report notes while we just relaxed, it was great!

Bahaha, I know someone who changed their park day too. Rhymes with "Mannie". Oh those interconnected TR's.

I always enjoy your gushing (and analysis) of FOTLK. I imagine having a dance/performance background would absolutely influence your viewing of the show. Obviously this is to you what Wishes is to me... absolute and utter perfection. Since I missed it last time, I absolutely MUST see it this time... NEXT WEEK!!!!!

Awww Pooh Bear. Is is just me or is he the softest of all the Disney characters?

And Tigger... Well Tigger is just an O.G.

Wow, I've seen a ton of Flame Tree recently. Apparently you should have looked in the water as there have been quite a few Alligator sightings near there.

I think I'm obsessed with FOTLK because of you, lol! I have always known it's "your thing" and had only seen it once before this trip and wasn't blown away. Well, I must have developed an appreciation for it or maybe got to watch it more closely this time, but it was AWESOME! I cannot wait for you to see parts of the video we're making for this trip. We put in a clip last night, and I was like, "Ohhh, Katt's gonna love that!!"

What a great AK morning!!

You got some really good safari pictures - love the lion ones.

We saw FotLK for the first time in August and loved it. I really hope your dream comes true and we are one day watching you in that show!

We always love that Pooh meet-and-greet - sad that they deleted Eeyore from it though. :(

Lunch looks really good! We have never eaten at Flame Tree, but it sure does get great reviews! I'm glad you mentioned about the beans and chickpeas in the salad - I was thinking that would be a great option, but I am NOT a bean person.

I really need to explore the Oasis way more than I have. The problem is I arrive, there's, you know, Everest, and when I'm leaving I'm usually rushing to another park. Maybe FP+ will allow a bit more explore time.

And oh yeah... SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!! :hyper:

Aahhaha that's totally fair!! I find myself okay with exploring a lot more now. I mean, I've been there done that to all the rides, and they're not my priority, especially on solo trips I slow down a lot.

I know right?!

Ahahaha, okay, I'll have to eventually check it out!

Thank you!! Gotta love the zoom on my camera!

I KNOW AAAAAAAHHHHH 3 MORE SLEEPS!!! 3 MORE SHIFTS!! ONLY 1 MORE LUNCH SHIFT!!! Also I move in 1 MORE SLEEP, so that's super freaking exciting!

Jim and I did the slow morning thing at AK and it was so nice! I'm going to have to try that more often.

Cute photopass pictures! I love getting some with the tree on the path between Asia and Africa.

It was amazing! I really liked it, glad you liked it too!!

Thank you! There are so many good spots in AK! I wish they would dissperse the photogs like that in all the parks. Also more in Epcot.. Disney you listening? Haha

We'll have to see!

Ahahha yeah, we were tweeting back and fourth that day, Luckily there's so much more for me to do in AK, that, and I'd be more than happy watching FOTLK all day.

Don't know HOW you missed it last time, you DEFINTELY need to see it this time as it closes in Jan!! Also I plan on being in it when it reopens, so you'll have no excuses after that haha!

Pooh Bear is so cute!! I love him!

Awe heck no! We had enough trouble with the birds in that area, I dont want to even think about gators!

I think I'm obsessed with FOTLK because of you, lol! I have always known it's "your thing" and had only seen it once before this trip and wasn't blown away. Arrrg you LURKER!! I had no clue you were reading along!! Lol. FOTLK is definitely my thing, so so so glad you loved it this time around!! It really is an amazing show and I cannot wait to be a part of it, it's gonna happen, I know it! Lol.

AH!! awesome!! That's incredible! I can't wait to see the video!!

It really was!

Thank you!!
AND thank you again, it really is wonderful!

I'll be sad about eeyore, but Tigger's my main man, so it's all good haha!

Flame tree was awesome!! I would definitely reccommend it!

Omg such a fun report so far!! I am surprised at the amount of disers going in December that's awesome What are your dates?

I've absolutely been on that bridge in the Animal Kingdom before. It's so misleading like it's going somewhere amazing!

Awww, you were the bird! That's awesome.

Haha, you did the creep on Susie? That's too funny. I know what you mean though, you're pretty sure you know that it's them, but you're not sure, and you don't want to look like an idiot.

You do look like a giant in that picture! But your Mom's face is what really makes it. :lmao:

I'm so jealous that you leave in a few days!!!!!
