BIG change to FP+ today

Thank you. So at this point, the above statement can be taken one of two ways: 1) It could be hinting that the legacy FP will go away in the future, or 2) It could be addressing all the rumors that are swirling that legacy FP will be going away when testing is done.

Obviously, Disney doesn't even know if legacy will be going away at this point. So as of right now, people can continue their trips as usual, with the added benefit of FP+.

Exactly what I got too, but this talk about how it is for sure going away is all just rumor. No one knows what is going to happen!!! But I am sure there will people people who say otherwise that they know it will happen. And just to be clear I am not saying it will never go away but as of right now there is no plan to remove FP-

Yup. This. Bet that's why they're messing with the FP+ seating at Fantasmic too. Since there are only a few rides at DHS worth reserving a FP+ for, and only one good show (Fantasmic), they must be getting overwhelming numbers of FP+ reservations for it.

:confused3 This doesn't make sense. They don't have to take overwhelming numbers, they can limit the number of reservations to first come, first serve. It's not that hard with advanced booking. They do it already for ADRs... Maybe what they are doing at Epcot is their way of making that work? I don't know.

I think they are trying to spread out the crowds and send them to the less popular attractions. It's all magic, don't you see? :rotfl2:

November 13th is the first day we're in Disney and we decided it to be our Epcot day. Out of all the days I was trying to book FP+ for previously, this day was ALWAYS the one that would give me problems!!!

I could only book FP+ times for what initally Disney gave me. For other days, I could change attractions or times after the fact but every time I tried for Epcot it would say that another attraction OR time was unavailable.

And now they are starting the whole groups thing with that day?! What's with November 13th!? It's not even a Friday!!:confused3

I've had trouble changing attractions or times from my desktop--always says nothing else is available. But I've had no problems doing it from my phone or my iPad. Maybe that will help you.

We just got back and did not have FP+ (were staying off site) and for someone in the position we were in, this will be a positive.

We spent parts of 2 days at EPCOT and did not ride Soarin or TT either time. Once, all paper FP were gone when we got there and the other day we pulled TT FP but wound up not being able to use them because the return time conflicted with a F&WF event we had booked.

Both days the wait for both rides were pretty consistently > 100 minutes and we chose not to wait

So if this free us FP- for people not eligible for FP+ I think it is a good thing but I can definitely understand frustration for people that do have FP+ and thought that they would not have to do RD / run-around to get paper FP

I tried on the desktop, through my iPad + iPhone and through both their MDE apps. For some reason nothing worked for me for that day only. For every other day I can change the times or attractions from anywhere, no problem.

I can see them doing that but isn't that kind of elitist? More for the haves and less for the have nots. That is especially troubling considering every one had the same chance to pull fastpasses under the old system. Sure some got more than others because they learned how to use the system to their advantage, but everyone had the same ability to do just that.

That was my point. It is no more elitist than what Universal is doing, and there are plenty of people here who are saying that FP+ is going to cause them to cancel their Disney vacations and spend a week at Universal instead because they can get FOTL passes there.

At Universal you can get an advantage over everyone else either by staying in one of their hotels or by shelling out extra money (and during busy periods that extra money is sizeable).

Wait til they take out the paper FP machines... :rolleyes1

And yes, I know someone is going to say that we don't have proof of that from Mickey Mouse himself, but it's coming, or I will eat this computer.

Anyway, just look at the news from the Swan and Dolphin today...Why would they bother to do that if they aren't going to take the paper FPs away?

Our first day is 11/13 and we are going to Epcot too, see you there. I'll have my LGMH on my bag and I'll be the short round one skipping through the crowds :)

~LOL, just read the first post. But this is still in testing, and even if the system did not allow both for Soarin' and Test Track, I would ride Soarin standby and FP+ Test Track. Done. :rotfl2: No way would I break out panic and cancel my vacation over this. :rotfl2:

~I *love* FP+ & Magic Bands -- it is *fabulous* (for us)! and I can't wait to use it again next year. :cool1: OMG, if I didn't love it, I would cancel our vacation and find something better to do with my time by focusing on something that I love. I don't get the whole Disney is destroying my life thing, lol. :lmao:

~ETA: Unsubscribed....

I certainately wouldn't cancel my vacation over it, but this is an indication of what fp+ will be in the end. It is what was described earlier when they were getting ready to start the testing. It is why many of us believe that in the end the new system will not work anywhere near as well for us as the old system did. Right now it is great because we can use fp+ as well as legacy fp, not the way it will likely end up.

OMG, I totally understand that even if they required that you clean the toilets after park closing in order to get a fp you would still totally love, love, love fp+. It so fabulously amazing and sunshiny, it the greatest thing ever and will likely result in in a super duper, fabulous experience including real singing flowers and a skittles rainstorm.

Okay, well how would you feel if the folks staying at GF got two ride all of the headliners (they could book three of whatever) but the folks staying at Pop only got one? That's where this is headed. Also, however you want to rationalize it, it doesn't change the fact that this is a downgrade for everyone.

I actually don't think it is a downgrade for everyone - those staying offsite or whatever that had no access to FP+ this is a benefit to them.

I think a good compromise might be that for the top tier you can only FP+ in advance for 1 but then day off you can book others if there are still openings.

Or they could only allocate some FP+ spots for early booking and then open up more day of.

I think the concept of FP+ is a good one but it basically forces people to have to plan a ton in advance ... be nice to compromise for the people that don't want to or see their plans change, etc.

I'm totally on board if it gets me skittles rainstorms. Actually I'd prefer M&M rainstorms, can I purchase an upgrade?

If he can see pink in his browser!

You guys should just not reply to that. I rarely spend any time reading the pink letters because they always make my eyes bleed, but I caught "just read the first post" at the beginning and "unsubscribed" at the end, indicating that the poster dropped in to give an inflamed opinion of the first post and indicated they won't be back to read responses. A troll writing in pink is still a troll.

I love the color changers as I don't have to waste my time reading their posts as they've already clearly announced that they are pretentious attention hoes.

My other pet peeve is gif signatures. :stir:

well, if they successfully convince people that Maelstrom is on par with Soarin' or Test Track that will be a pretty darn good magic trick ;)

I agree with you; I believe that there are signs that they are struggling to manage the legacy software and hardware, and that they are counting on eliminating it rather than fixing it. I think that any hints that it will remain are really talking about the new system performing the same function from personal devices and the kiosks rather than the paper machines.

I'll be in Epcot Nov. 13th, and I'm just glad I've long been done with my FP+ selections.....

I understand they are still in testing, but really this is going overboard!! So now, if you want to ride the bigger rides, you have to choose 1! Unbelievable! What happens to the fastpass+ I already made? Are they still there?
I went ahead and booked a MSEP and then one of my fastpass+ disappeared! Is it still there??
I'm getting more than fed up with this!

I'm sure this has been commented on already, but since i'm just now getting into to thread i'll give my unwanted $0.02. You do NOT have to choose just one. You choose just 1 FP+ for this group of rides. This test for me signals potential plans as they look to move to a combination of prebooking and in park additions. Plus, this helps load balance the prebooking to ensure that in park FP are available. Anybody who's had concerns about FP+ should welcome the move. Anybody who's a fan of FP- should welcome the move.

And for what it's worth, it's almost 2pm in Orlando and there are still Soarin FP available.
