Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

I know I should know this, but what is the S/P/D rate?

TIApopcorn::

S/P/D stands for "Stay, Play, Dine" - I don't know what the amount is, but it's a package discount (room, tix, dining) as opposed to a room only discount.

I've just been able to confirm my stay dates / resort. & it looks like we will be at PO. We originally booked POR but swapped today to POFQ. We arrive 2/21 & depart 3/4. How is the bus service? I read on another thread the busses go through POR & take forever getting to the parks?

My experience the 2nd week of Feb this year was that the buses only went through POR at certain times of day (usually the slower, mid-day periods when fewer people are coming and going). I wish I'd kept track, because I don't think we ever shared a bus during the morning park-opening hours. I didn't stay at any park till closing this last trip; I think we did share sometimes when returning to the resort earlier in the evening (esp. from Epcot), but POFQ is the first drop-off. I had no complaints with the bus service, never had to wait long for one, and even when we did the POR loop, it didn't feel like it took that much longer. (Admittedly, I'm on vacation and so happy not to be driving that I'm pretty relaxed about the buses.)

We have found that the times we had to go thru POR has gotten less with every trip since our 1st in 1998. The last couple of trips we only shared during the off peak times and even then we just plan an extra 10 minutes or so to get to the park we want to go to.

Staying at FQ for the very first time in January. I have stayed at CSR the last two times I have visited and loved it. My sister's family has us all booked at FQ and we are excited and can't wait for our trip. But I am a little bit of a bedding snob the bedding at CSR is nice and soft and fluffy. I HATE that thin scratchy bedding and it's hard to tell from the pics how the bedding is at FQ so if someone could let me know that would be great. Thanks so much.

We just left POFQ this week. We didn't share with POR at all and I have to say that the bus service at POFQ was the best I have ever experienced at Disney. :thumbsup2

The bedding was not scratchy to me, and at home I sleep on no less than 600 thread count Egyptian cotton. :rotfl2:

POFQ used to be my family's little secret. Been going there since the kids were 2 and 13. Now they are 25 and 28 and its not a secret anymore lol... We love this resort..

Going back for our 15th Disney trip January 24 - 28. Just me and the hubby. It'll be my third stay at POFQ. Got the S/P/D rate but it still seems kinda high? :rolleyes1

We are trying to figure out the P/S/D discount for when it comes out Oct 8. We currently have FQ booked with an AAA 20% room only discount. wDW is only giving FQ a 5% discount :sad2:
But, on the psd promo, trying to figure out the cost of the components, we took out price of 2 day park ticket, as we will use them to renew our AP next August. So it seems room discount is same as POR, 25% and DDP works out to around $42 per person, per night. If our Disney Math is correct :dance3:

So if it is, we will switch to this promo when it comes out.

Thanks Andre for the information. I agree the old postcards and maps are really beautiful!

I will be staying at PORFQ for the first time this February 12-17. I wish it wasn't President's week but that is when my son's high school band is set to march in the MK parade.

I was at WDW this past March and I was able to get a bounce back for this month. So that is only 7 months difference.
thx
We are going for our 4th trip & have never been offered a BB nor did we know to ask. Glad to have this info - thanks all!

Just left POFQ on Thurs. . No BB offer in room pkg. Called 8844 asked for Sept 2014 .
Only offer was the Disney Dining pkg . Being Annual Pass holders we usually book Room Only and
only at AP or FLR discounts closer in without tickets, so no BB for us.

saw this on another thread about the monorail:

"Several resort boats will have shortened schedules
The resorts affected are Old Key West, Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter and Saratoga Springs. Additional buses will be running during these times.
The boats will not be running during the following times:
October 9: 4:35pm-6:45pm
October 10-17: 10:00am-11:00am and 3:15pm-6:45pm
October 18: 10:00am-11:00am and 3:15pm-closing
October 19: 10:00am-5:30pm"

are they talking about the boat to Downtown Disney? Arriving on the 19th and planned to take the boat to DTD Disney in the afternoon on the 19th.

We arrive on the 19th too and planning to go to Downtown Disney. Maybe we'll bus it there and boat it back.

We are going to Disney in February 2014. Last year we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and loved it, but want to save some money this time around. We were booked for POR but for some reason, I kept thinking we should switch to PORFQ. I liked the quaintness of WL and was worried that POR was too big So, I called tonight and we got a standard view on the SPD sale! We saved quite a bit of money. I was surprised to get the SPD deal for PORFQ as I have heard they usually don't have many rooms for the deals available.

Excited to join this group and learn more about PORFQ.

Hello, Has anyone's children did the Pirate Adventure? Do you recommend booking ahead of time or is it something you can decide on when you are there. We will be at POFQ from Nov 10-23. Thanks!

Just back yesterday there was a bb in the room. Not the flyer like they used to have but a small page in the room folder on the desk. It is for the DDP only.

I hope this doesn't happen in November we use that boat all th time

I booked POFQ with the S/P/D offer for Visa cardholders. We're going 3/1 to 3/8. I'm excited to check this resort out! We've stayed at Wilderness Lodge and in April we stayed POR in a Royal guest room. We loved POR except it was such a huge resort and everything was very spread out. Looking forward to POFQ being a smaller resort.

the 19th is the only day we planned to go to DTD, thought the kids would really like the boat over.

A bit disappointed in Disney transportation issues. Resort monorail is closing today between 11AM-6PM, every day for "2 week". We have a CM ADR at 5:30 on the 20th and had planned to take the monorail to get there.

not a big deal I guess, but still....
