Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

we have this coming up as well. can you tell me, did you have to re-check in for your second stay or did they do both check ins at the same time? I also had a spot to order the bands and it asked for color preferences for both reservations. would I not just use the same ones over?

Even if you stay in the same room, which they normally try to arrange, you will still have to go to the front desk at some point during your swap-over day (I'd suggest early) and do the re-checkin paperwork. This would involve them issuing new Key to the World cards for your 'new stay' (which would now mean Magic Bands too of course).

That said, we know the Magic Bands are meant to be able to be re-used, so maybe they can just update your old ones with the new information? Long term that must be the intention, but as the system is still in testing at the moment I don't know whether the online checkin system yet knows that you already have personalised bands and so won't need new ones.

Looks like we're coming back to the French Quarter in January! I booked under P/S/D this morning. I was shocked FQ was available! In 2012.. I could only get Free Dining at Riverside, so we had moved over there for the 1st time. I was so nervous at the time, but ended up loving it there also! Can't wait for January!!!!!!!
FQ was included this year for SPD it's only the RO discount that sucks!

What would be the best way to state my room request?

It's me, DH, DD(9) & DD(7) in one room, and my parents in another room.

My parents both have some mobility/health issues, and that is a big part of the reason we are staying at FQ. Even if we have the worst possible luck imaginable... walking from the farthest room would not be that bad. However, in a perfect world... here's what we would like:

connecting rooms....close to lobby/bus stop... ground floor or close to elevator (due to mobility issues) ....would love Bldg 4..... booked garden view, but okay if downgraded to standard in order to meet requests.

Would they read that and laugh??? Is it just "too much" information?

Last time we stayed at Riverside, and asked for connecting rooms in Magnolia Terrace.. ground floor or close to elevator. We did get that.

We just got back from POFQ and it was great, as usual. This is our preferred resort. We were in room 1333, which is Bldg. 1, 3rd floor (our preference), corner room overlooking the river (a bonus!) and also a nice courtyard with fountain.

We also had a working fridge. Our only snag was that upon arriving at the room, we discovered the door didn't lock. We called maintenance and also stopped by the front desk. She said she couldn't guarantee what time it would be fixed, and she could move me to Bldg. 6. Now, nothing against Bldg. 6, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a corner room overlooking the river on the 3rd floor. So we stored our bag, went to the park and hoped for the best. When we got back a few hours later, the door was indeed fixed and our original cards worked, so all was well.

I had asked earlier about the Pool View room in this thread. I'm excited to say we are booked for next June in a Pool View room! We haven't stayed at a Disney resort since 2011 and I'm looking forward to another on site stay. My kids will be thrilled!

Going back for our 15th Disney trip January 24 - 28. Just me and the hubby. It'll be my third stay at POFQ. Got the S/P/D rate but it still seems kinda high? :rolleyes1

You are gonna love it! My first stay at FQ was a pool view room and my DD was in heaven.

I requested building 4 too. Building 4 is my favorite because it is close to the food court and the buses. The walk down to the boat dock isn't that far either. I just love FQ!

Always best to keep room requests to not more than 3, clear and simple, with the most important first:
Due to mobility issues:
Close to lobby and bus stop
1st floor
Bldg 4
:)
If you would like, PM me and I will give you a contact number for special needs....or call the reservation number and ask for special needs - have both reservation numbers ready and tell them your parents have mobility issues and ask special needs to link the reservation and note first floor or near elevator, bldg 4 would help. Hope this helps!
Have a great trip!

I had asked earlier about the Pool View room in this thread. I'm excited to say we are booked for next June in a Pool View room!

Pool View is almost like 'Preferred' at many places, as the pool is already so centrally located. Just be aware you won't get a ground floor room, in case that was something you were thinking of requesting.

On our last few trips it was next to impossible to get the kids out of the pool and to the parks. They just love to swim! Looking forward to the pool and activities in the afternoon. We stayed at the Poly in 2011 and my daughter just loved all the kids' pool activities!

No problem! Thanks, Andre! Now the long wait begins...

Hello all,

We just left the great POFQ on Sept 27th. We did not receive a bounce back offer which I dismissed as a random event we were not selected for. After reading through the boards it seems that even though I didn't receive a flyer I could have still participated.
Is there anyone who may have stayed around the same time that can verify they were being distributed?
Thank you.

If you don't have the bounce back offer in the room, you can call ext #8844 and ask about the current offer.

Andre, I remembered years back to the Dixie Landing years, I saw this neat looking map, it was sort of a 2D'ish type of map in the 90's of POFQ:eek:. So, I googled and located it on your sites history page. I am using it to have my DD's pick an area that they like. I just wanted to say I still like that map even if it still has the old marina on it:rotfl: I just think it is such a cool map and I like to way it was drawn up. Just taking a stroll down memory lane and sharing it with my DD's. If any one else wants to see it go here http://www.portorleans.org/history.php

Yes, I love those old maps too. All the park maps were done in that kind of semi-perspective illustrative style too. I know the newer, more technically accurate, ones are a lot easier for following the paths, etc - but there was a whimsical charm and cheerfulness about the old versions. I also love the detailing of all the faux street names, and places like Beignet Square, Creole Court and Beaux Regards Square, etc.

Disney did themselves a disservice by quietly dropping a lot of those backstory elements back around 2000, and I was really pleased when the new General Manager wanted to try to bring some of that story back again for new cast members.

I was at WDW this past March and I was able to get a bounce back for this month. So that is only 7 months difference.

I've just been able to confirm my stay dates / resort. & it looks like we will be at PO. We originally booked POR but swapped today to POFQ. We arrive 2/21 & depart 3/4. How is the bus service? I read on another thread the busses go through POR & take forever getting to the parks?

I have never had any problems with bus service at POFQ. Of the times I have stayed at POFQ we have only shared the bus twice with POR and it really didn't take that much longer to get to the parks.
