Will this be too much?

This is gorgeous. Definitely wear this. People will definitely have a look, but I would see that as a compliment.

LOVE the dresses and tiaras - I hope to see them on our Hawaii cruise! :thumbsup2

You definitely will. I have one two tiaras that have not had an outing on a cruise yet and will come this time round, my original wedding tiara and the tiara that I wore for the vow renewal in October. I also have a evening gown that I specifically got for this cruise.

My question is how formal is to formal? I have a dress I wore to SR ball last year and absolutely love the dress! Its long with a slight poof, baby pink and one of my favorite dresses. Would it look really off if I wore it? I usually wear short dresses but my bf has the matching tie to it so we could be matching with his tux. Just wondering if I will feel out of place.

It is as formal as you want to be or feel comfortable being.

In my experience some people dress really formal on formal night and semi-formal most nights.
As long as you don't care what others think about you they who cares.

I bought a dress at the store during homecoming that I wear all the time, I also wear my bridesmaids dresses I have a short one and a long one I often wear- what better way to get good use out of those dresses which otherwise would hang in my closet.

My daughter and I on semi-formal night (there was no formal night on our 5-night Disney Dream cruise).

so did anyone go formal for formal night though? Did you see any guys with tuxes on?
:goodvibes

My husband owns a tux, so he wears it proudly. My daughter loves getting dressed up, so she has no problem dressing fancy. I like it too, so we are good to go.

Now since our next cruise will be the first with our son, and he will be a month and a half away from being five, the real question is whether we need to get him a tux, or if I can still pull off a black Eton suit and knee high socks. :rotfl:

My husband and I have very different opinions on this subject, and I am betting that you can figure out which side we both come down on. :lmao::lmao:

I bought a long dress for formal night. it's a deep red and has a small trian in the back and has crysal beading on the front. I will also have a tiara. I found it in a antquite shop for $12.00. for the little I would do what makes him comforable

My son is used to dressing up for formal nights but didn't see the point in going all-out with a tux -- until I got him one and girls were commenting the whole time on how good he looked. :thumbsup2 That's all it took, and now he gladly wears a tux! Lol

Our DCL formal night pics are old -- looking forward to new ones next year! These are from our cruise on Mariner of the Seas last month. Both dresses and his tux are all from Ebay for ridiculously cheap -- I :love: Ebay!!

I love this. It's so pretty. I say wear it as I would if it were mine. Where else can you wear it and not be thought to be weird. You will fit in just fine.

I'm just gonna c/p from another thread since it's easiest :):
I love getting dressed up! Can't wait to go dress shopping again!!

I really am the same person! The difference in my hair is making me LOL!!

Too funny. It does seem as though your a different lady. Funny how your hair can totally change you huh?

We never did full formal wear. I do believe we will next time. I hope to be celebrating next year when my DH and I celebrate 25 years together. I want to go on the fantasy. So I think I will be able to get him to wear a tux then. :thumbsup2

On our cruise in Dec. we wore long dresses on formal night and Jackson wore his tux. Was not thrilled at first until all the ladies told him how adorable he looked. Then he didn't want to take it off.

Didn't have a suit for our son, but he DOES have Prince wear!!! He IS a Disney kid, after all!
Here we are at Formal Night at Animator's Palate;

Nope!!! He has many little girl friends who all have Princess Parties. In order for him to play along, we got him the prince outfit for his dress-up box.
For girls, dress-up boxes are easy, but since I have a boy, I make HIS dress-up box from stuff that goes on sale the day after Halloween!
Along with the prince outfit, he has standard "boy stuff" costumes, like a Jedi, cowboy, police officer, firefighter, doctor, explorer, etc...

He also has some custom made ones that I did make special for him, like Mickey Mouse;

And a knight in shining armor;

He likes to dress up just for the fun of it... in some unusual outfits...
Like Sonic the Hedgehog...

or Scooby Doo...

or whatever he happens to be into at the moment - and our view of it is, "Why NOT???" You're only a kid once!!! :yay:

Like your son, my daughters loved to play Fancy Dress and I made lots of costumes for them - mediaeval ladies, princesses, fairies, Star Trek TNG crew member - is it really surprising the eldest, Elisa, grew up into - a WDW CastMember!!! LOL pixiedust:

I know this thread is old but I must say I am enjoying looking at everyone's photos. I am glad to see people dressed up. We did the Disney Canadian cruise last September out of NYC and enjoyed getting dressed up. Reading these boards lately, it seems like all anyone wants to wear to dinner is shorts. We are going on a Dream cruise in November for our 5 year anniversary and will enjoy getting dressed up.

We are taking a 4 nighter next October - aside from pirate night we will all be in cocktail attire for dinner.
Even though it calls for casual (2) and "oprional dress up".... we want to look nice and dont get much opportunity. Lol we live in SW FL so it's ALWAYS "cruise casual" down here.

Hope we wont stick out like a sore thumb... bug looking forward to dressing up! :-)
