WISH Away The Pounds - Awesome August Challenge - Everyone Welcome

What is the dodgiest album in your record collection???
Hard to say...I've got a lot of 80's in my collection! I recently broke out some oldies and was unpleasantly surprised by how much I disliked Prince's Purple Rain album. It was one of my fave's and now I'm like...ick ick ick....:rotfl2:

OT, but DANG! on my WI today! So frustrated. I know I had a couple bad days the beginning of the week, but got back on track, and am back where I started. WTH! Think I may be PMS-ing, but still. Seems like I hit this weight and then can't break through it. Still going to keep on though!

My WI was awful too! Eating gluten free must be helping my stomach as flip side my appetite is better. That am I'm retaining water....ugh!!!'

By dosgiest we mean most likely to surprise people and make them laugh? I have several I like all kinda music! Barry Manilow to Metallica :)

Good morning all! :wave2:

I am sad to report that I am not going to make my goal for this challenge. :sad2: I knew that with this being the last push for training that was a possibility. I know there is a whoosh in my future somewhere -- hopefully in September.

But I am all ready for the Dumbo Double Dare next week-end and on Wednesday I'm going to Disneyland!!!!! :yay::yay::yay:

So that's 4 MFP names updated in post #3.......anyone else need adding?? (Thanks for the offer to help ohMom)

Looking forward to getting your weights in tomorrow........don't worry if you're late as I'm away 'til Sunday again, so will update the spreadsheet and colours then

Have a good weekend everyone, and hope the scales are kind!!!!!

And, as we don't have a QOTD or anything, I'm putting up my 'fun' one........... What is the dodgiest album in your record collection??? Mine's definitely Michael Bolton's Greatest Hits!!!

"Dodgie" I love it! It sounds so British! LOL! :cool2: I would say my dodgiest is the soundtrack from Phantom of the Paradise which are all Paul Williams songs. I still love those songs but they definitely are not for everyone. :rotfl2:

We have WW over here too, Slimming World is more popular though as there are a lot less restrictions and no Slimming World branded foods - it's all based on normal ingredients available in the shops - not a ready-meal in sight!!! They've been running a trial in Texas for a couple of years and I believe it's quite popular.

I do like the idea of real food and no sponsorships. That is part of the WW math that makes me a little annoyed at times. :sad2:

Good morning :)

I just realized that although I've been reading along, I haven't posted because I haven't been on the computer. So I'm replying with my phone right now. I am going to get in later with the computer & reply to other posts. Have a great Friday & see you again soon :)

Jill

I'm glad that I'm not the only one reading along and not posting! :flower3:

Thanks for the ear worm on Purple Rain today. ;) I'm going to be singing and swaying all day now -- LOL!

Hang in there on the tough weigh in. Your hard work will pay off soon! :fish:

This is an exciting post for me because it is my 5,000th post! :cool2:

Finish strong guys and I will see you in September! :thumbsup2

Sorry for the tough WI, Molli! :flower3: Hang in there!

I have a lot of heavy metal music in my collection, too, someday we can rock out together and embarrass our children mightily! :rotfl:

No good weigh in here either. I am above my start weight to this challenge... Arg. Somhow the summer is not good for me. Need to refocus. But at the moment I seem to have problems sticking ot my plans. Only way to get back on track is to actually make the decision to do it. It really is only mental...

At least I am happy to be back on here posting again. That always helps me!

Do we have a host for September yet?????

Good luck at DDD next weekend Lisa!!!!!!

Small minuscule loss this week. Getting frustrated. But I know I've been slacking off with the measuring and weighing of food.
I'm trying to reboot, hopefully things will be better next week when the kids go back to school.

Resurrecting a few quotes because I'm finally catching up....

Worst "ride" - Stitch. I still have no idea what that was supposed to be. All I could figure out is there was a lot of steam and it felt like somebody spit on me. Totally don't get it....

Did you ever experience the ride when it was called Extra-terrorestrial? That's not a misspelling. Initially the ride did not have a cute Stitch creature - it was a terrifying alien monster - it was huge! And the noises in the audience when it escapes weren't goofy Stitch noises and belches... It really was a scary ride not meant for little kids, but parents are programmed to think everything in Disney is for little ones, so the ride had to revamp itself to accommodate the throngs of irate parents.

The one I could do without would have to be Soarin. I just don't get it. :confused3

I'm with you, we were there opening weekend for that ride and waited almost two hours. We were very disappointed in the ride, and our pet name for it now is Borin' - we won't ride it again. That and Space Mountain for sheer discomfort.

Am I the only one that struggles with eating out of frustration/anger?

Nope, if I'm stressed at work I eat way more than normal. And they have a free m&m dispenser... anyone who has friended me on MFP can attest, I have 2 "fun size" packs of m&ms listed just about every freakin' day - and that's probably a low estimate.

But I do put everything in the MFP app... and if I'm WAY over in calories, I make sure I walk or Zumba and add that to balance it out. It helps immensely to be completely accountable. Oh I've been tempted to 'forget' to add that extra handful of m&ms but really try hard not to, and always feel great after the workout... even the one I did the other night at 10pm because DD15 wanted to watch Rom Coms all night. :rolleyes2

I am happy to report a slight loss... any loss at this point is a good thing, even a half a pound. I've hit the biggest problem number for myself: 175ish... This is such a plateau for me that honestly I haven't been in the 160s since college. I get discouraged and before you know it, I'm approaching 200 again. So I will not complain while I'm in this rut... and I hope I don't get discouraged this time!! Here's to the big goal of the 160s...

I am very frustrated this week!! My WI was horrible! :sad: Short of chopping off a limb, I don't think I will come close to my goal. I have no idea what to do. :confused3 I have tracked everything, done my workouts and have been consistently under my calorie goal. I don't even eat back my workout calories!! Now I am very discouraged and it is getting really hard to want to stay on my plan. I am also wondering if it is hormonal since I just had my ToM last week (2 weeks late) and I feel like I am about to start again..... WTH?? :confused3

So now I am off to get shopping done and try to get myself out of this funk....:rolleyes2

LISA -- have fun at Disneyland!!!

tried to upload some photos from our cruise but only got one successfully.

Hi Guys

Just had to share......been to Slimming World group tonight and the most amazing thing happened............

They voted me Woman of the Year!!!!!

:dance3: Congratulations! You look wonderful as always! :dance3:

Jill, I loved your lunch QOTD even though I had nada to add to the discussion -- a new question and really, really great one! ::yes::

Thanks!

And, as we don't have a QOTD or anything, I'm putting up my 'fun' one........... What is the dodgiest album in your record collection??? Mine's definitely Michael Bolton's Greatest Hits!!!

Non-Disney obsessed people would probably look at me funny for my Lion King the Musical CD. But, I know you guys understand that one :) I just use iTunes and my iphone now and people would probably be shocked at Ricky Martin (but he shakes his bon bon while livin la vida loca) :thumbsup2

Hang in there and push ahead! You'll be fine.

Sorry about the WI but I'm sure it'll change soon. I totally love Barry Manilow and Metallica! Hmmm...need to add to my running playlist.

Good morning all! :wave2:

I am sad to report that I am not going to make my goal for this challenge. :sad2: I knew that with this being the last push for training that was a possibility. I know there is a whoosh in my future somewhere -- hopefully in September.

Can I join you? I am not going to do ANYTHING in August, so I'm hoping for a better September as well.

But I am all ready for the Dumbo Double Dare next week-end and on Wednesday I'm going to Disneyland!!!!! :yay::yay::yay:

:cool1: I'm so excited for you! I can't believe it's here already. I hope you have a great trip and super runs!

This is an exciting post for me because it is my 5,000th post! :cool2:

Finish strong guys and I will see you in September! :thumbsup2

Congrats on 5000! Thanks and see you after the DDD!

Awww...that's a great photo! I love, love, love your dress! So cute!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, I didn't even weight myself today because I can feel that I've gained weight. Too many out of town days of eating have caught up to me! I don't know why I do this to myself :confused3 I am super motivated to eat better tomorrow since I'll be running a 10k on Sunday. I do not want to feel bloated and blobby while running. I am even planning to eat something small before a kids birthday party we have at 4:30 tomorrow. I already know there will be pizza and cake that I WILL NOT EAT. They are also having a veggie tray, so I will try to stick to veggies. And, lots of water tomorrow.
I start back to work Monday :( but hopefully it will get me on a better eating schedule. I am really not ready for the school year to begin, but I guess I don't have a choice :rotfl:
I think I am going to sit down and make a menu for the week including all meals and snacks. Pinterest here I come! Have a great night and I'll be back tomorrow sometime.
Good luck at DDD next weekend Lisa!!!!!!
Thanks, Buffy! :thanks:
You can do it! :cheer2: One step at a time. One day at a time. And a big :woohoo: for posting a loss this week!
I am very frustrated this week!! My WI was horrible! :sad: Short of chopping off a limb, I don't think I will come close to my goal. Don't give up! You can do this! You are doing everything you should and I bet as soon as your hormonal stuff has passed you will have a big whoosh! :cool2: When I have week like this I just remind myself, over and over if necessary, that giving up did not work too well for me. :flower3:
LISA -- have fun at Disneyland!!!
Thanks, Molli! :flower3: You look fabulous! :cool2:
Jill, good luck on your 10k tomorrow! I know you will rock it! :rockband:
I took a page from your Pinterest lunch box idea, Jill, and got myself this cute little lunch box from Rubbermaid.
That is one of my big goals for September is getting my food back under rigid control. I have the tools I need with WW, I just need to follow it faithfully.
And speaking of WW, this week's topic was Supermarket Strategies, and they had the best quote:
Say no at the store, and say no just once. Take it home and say no over and over until it is gone.
Since we don't have a coach this week I will post a QOTD for the week-end. QOTD Saturday, August 24, 2013 and Sunday, August 25, 2013: What are your favorite quotes or sayings that help you get through this healthy living journey?
Do we have a host for September yet?????
I don't think we have a host for September yet. We need a brave soul to volunteer please :flower3:
I'm still up for October hosting. :goodvibes
I saw this on pinterest:
"No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch."
I do love this quote. You hear it alot in the back of the pack where I hang out. :goodvibes
If we don't get anyone for September, I'm happy to keep doing the spreadsheet thing!!
Well, have had a 'bad' weekend!!! I was down 6lb on the beginning of the month, but after a trip to both the Earl of Sandwich and Five Guys yesterday, the current state of the scales is anyone's guess!!! Soooo enjoyed it though.
I was worried that either (or both) of these chains would not have travelled well across the Atlantic, but I'm pleased to say that both were pretty awesome (although expensive!!). Best part of the day was trying out the bottomless Coke Freestyle machine at Five Guys...tried raspberry coke zero, lime coke zero, orange coke zero and peach sprite zero. Liked the peach sprite the best, but the raspberry coke was a close second!!!
Back on the healthy eating plan today though (NOT!!) didn't get home from London until 1:30am, so slept until 9:30. Went out for late lunch to a local restaurant and had a full roast dinner with yorkshire pudding!!! Have now been food shopping and got all healthy sensible stuff in for the rest of the week, so hoping to finish at or very near target for the month.
Seems like lots of us are struggling at the moment, probably due to the vacation thing. Hopefully we can have a good couple of months before all of you Americans fall into the food Bermuda Triangle that is Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas!!!!
Jill, good luck on your 10k tomorrow! I know you will rock it! :rockband:
Thanks! I don't mean to brag, but I did rock it lol. I finished in 59:09 :banana: I think your comment helped :) Now go rock the Dumbo!
Ooohhh that's nice! I may have to get that, too!
That is one of my big goals for September is getting my food back under rigid control. I have the tools I need with WW, I just need to follow it faithfully.
I'm pretty sure I said the same thing to DH last night. I need to track my food (all food) daily. I do so well when I track. But, one day of not tracking and I slide down hill...or more like slide down Mount Everest!
And speaking of WW, this week's topic was Supermarket Strategies, and they had the best quote:
Say no at the store, and say no just once. Take it home and say no over and over until it is gone.
Thanks for the QOTD! I saw this today on Facebook and took a screenshot with my phone so I can look at it every morning:
"It's not about being better than someone else. It's about being better than you were yesterday.
I love this because I am always comparing myself to others and just need to focus on ME!
You are so sweet! Thanks you for volunteering if no one else does!
I'm glad you had a nice getaway and got to enjoy some yummy food. Five Guys is expensive here, too (or at least me and DH think it is). I've never tried a Coke Freestyle machine but I would love to try a few samples of the ones you had. They sound so yummy!
I love the reference to Thanksgiving through Christmas as the food Bermuda Triangle :rotfl2: I'm hoping I don't get lost in that triangle this year!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hey everyone! I wanted to pop on real quick since I will have an early bedtime tonight :( School starts tomorrow and I really am not ready. But, with so many changes where I teach, I am just easing into the first week.

I had a great time at the 10k I ran this morning. It was sponsored by Panera to raise money for a breast cancer foundation in the area. They donated $250,000!! About 8,000 people participated in the 10k or 2 mile. Lots of businesses had teams who raised money. Our entrance fees were all donated, too. The only negatives were that it started at 10 am and it was already very warm (and I got a headache standing around in the sun) and they served Panera bagels (and fruit). I am a sucker for Panera bagels. I ate one in the morning and one after the finish and tracked them both. They also had a kids race and fun family things all over. Next year (oh yes, I will run next year as well), I'm having my whole family go. I couldn't this year because DH had a soccer game so DSs went with my mom to church and lunch. Anyhow, I had a great time and am feeling pretty proud of my race.

Anyhow, now that I've rambled and had to take a timeout in the middle of typing because my dog was in the backyard going crazy, barking, and trying to attack a possum, I better get going. That darn possum has been in the backyard every night for a week and the dog goes bonkers. We have a doggy door and fenced in backyard, so she has all access :) It's a small possum, too. Guess we better set a live trap and take it out to the lake or down to our river.

Have a great Monday and I will try to check in during my lunch break.

Jill

"Why worry? If you've done the very best you can, worrying won't make it any better" - Walt Disney

This is one of my favorite quotes and helps to remind me to let the little things go. To not worry and beat myself up when I slip up.

If we don't get anyone for September, I'm happy to keep doing the spreadsheet thing!!

That would be wonderful, Helen! :thanks:

I will volunteer to coach F 9/6 through Th 9/12. :goodvibes

Thanks for the QOTD! I saw this today on Facebook and took a screenshot with my phone so I can look at it every morning:

I love this because I am always comparing myself to others and just need to focus on ME!

Love your quote, Jill! And a big :woohoo: and :yay: for your great 10k time! You DID rock it! :cool2:

Enjoy the first day of school today! :flower3:

It is the first day of school for DS, too. He is a freshman. I think he is ready as he got up voluntarily at 4:45 a.m. This will be the only time this year. :lmao:

Great quote and love the tie in to Disney! :love:

If I get a chance I will try and post an update or two from DL. See you all in September! :wave2:

Morning all! I'ved missed you all! Sorry i haven't been able to participate much this month. We had almost no wifi on vacation, despite the owner's promise. It was a PITA since several of us had work obligations to check on during the week. Then we were home with a MOUNTAIN of laundry and it was just 4 days at home to pack up DD for college. We moved her in Thursday. Then we were home for a day before heading back to DD's school for convocation and our real good-byes.

Now i have to get DS to the orthodontist and eye doctor (today) and get some school clothes and supplies before he starts on Thursday.

Exercise has been sporadic, although I did great on vacation with kayaking every day and some walking and running thrown in. That being said, i came back way up on the scale and have been working hard to get back into my maintenance range.

Sorry to have missed so much chatter and news. No time to read back now, as i need to head out with DS soon. TTYL......................P

Eliza32...your name is Helen? oops! I've called you Eliza quite a few times! sorry! anyhow...I love five guys! and the coke machine sounds awesome, I've heard of thoswe but haven't been anywhere to try one yet

Jill -- great job on the race!!

forced my butt out to walk this morning, my mom is coming over tomorrow night to do some canning wed/thur so I know i'll be hard pressed to get all my workouts in. then this weekend we are going back 'home' to small town, Ohio where Mumford and Sons stopover for the Gentlemen on the Road tour. last minute, my cousin was able to get us some tickets. it should be fun! but not very healthy-food friendly!

thanks all for the compliments....my dress and my oldest DD dress both came from Goodwill :teeth:

off to flylad a little bit today after my shower! hope you are having a great Monday. love the quotes!
