30 years? How is that possible? Recap last day at Disney (8/14)

Hurray a PTR from Ms Kathy!!! Ah Mr Mark look so cute. I miss him!!! Yay for OKW and BOG!!!

Hi there; happy to have you on this PTR as in the past. With the short time until my next trip, I figured I best get it started. I'll try to keep up with both of them. :faint:
Yeah, me too............

:woohoo: for another stay at OKW!!!

Hi Kathy

yay another one of your reports - it is so good to back reading along here. Your reports grow so quickly so am glad I got here before getting too far behind.

Hi Kath, feel like old friends now!!! Happy you started a pre-trip report. Looking forward to it. Have a good night. Elaine

Elaine, I am so happy to have you here again. And I do consider you an old friend...you've stuck through with me on a lot of these reports.

Sounds like a great arrival day plan, swimming, MK and BOG! So jealous you get dinner there 3 times in 8 months. ;):goodvibes

Thanks, Steph. I wish you could get BOG for your upcoming trip.

Joining in!!!

Thanks for being here, Linda.

Finally made it. :drive:
Better late than never, or that's what they say....

Anita, you aren't late at all...just delighted to have you here.

I just have to tell you, purple is your color!
That was the perfect mother of the groom dress....:goodvibes

Thanks, Anita. Purple has always been a favorite color of mine (my bridesmaids wore a very soft lilac for my wedding). I really liked my dress; now I need an excuse to wear it again. :)

Joining in the fun. Congrats on 30 years!! Your arrival day sounds perfect. I love OKW too - so relaxing! :goodvibes

:wave2:, Christine; thank you for joining, and thank you for the congrats. OKW truly has become our new home...we love it there.

Yay!!! That sounds like a wonderful first day! And how awesome that you were able to snag BoG for your arrival night. I am a little stuck on the menu here, and I am not sure if anything looks appealing to us or not. Do you have any recommendations?

D~

Hi, D. I was so happy to snag BOG because Mark really wanted to go back. I really liked the chicken dish; I also enjoyed the steak in December. Nicki raved about the shrimp/scallop meal.

I don't care for O'Hare. But I grew up going out of Midway so I guess it's just where I feel comfortable. I only ever flew out of O'Hare twice for international travel so maybe that's where the aversion comes from.

See O'Hare is 30 minutes from us where Midway is over an hour. And I hate the runways at Midway...especially landing. They are so short! Plus Midway does NOT have Starbucks. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I was just thinking "What happened to the CSR lady?" You are definitely turning OKW into your home. Do you book through Disney or rent points when you stay there? It's on my list. I think it looks so lovely in pictures. Of course, I haven't stayed at CSR since the refurb on the rooms. And I always come off the boat ride in Mexico wanting to run over and check in.

CSR will hold a special place always because of the things we have celebrated there (Mark's 50th, our 25th, my successful breast cancer surgery, etc.). But we can get OKW cheaper and the room is bigger and it's just beautiful there.

Going by your standing ADR at BoG, I definitely need to make this a priority!

Yes, you need to make it a priority...it's simply wonderful.

I'm here! Page 3 but here. It was a busy day with getting the E's picked up from camp and then off to a wedding, both of which involved a good 9 hours in the car combined. YIKES! I started to read this from my phone in the car but posting is such a pain from it I try not to.

I saw all that with picking up the E's and then you had your DIS meet with Ann. :)

Love the arrival plans, I have to agree with you, I vastly prefer O'Hare as well. OKW, Pool, MK, maybe a turtle crawl, BoG...what a wonderful day! I am hoping for major room mojo and it just being ready for you for once. :thumbsup2

Definitely a turtle crawl (or two), and I'm hoping or major room mojo myself this trip.

Which reminds me...I will be out there in Oct for work so once I get that figured out will let you know! :goodvibes

Oh, we must set up a DIS meet. I would love to meet you. We will have to talk plans once you are more up to speed on when, exactly where, etc.

Hi Kathy :)

Hi, Linda.

Firstly huge congratulations on 30 years .... so wonderful :)

Thank you. :)

Your first day plans sound great and what a fab first dinner together

Mark is really looking forward to BOG again.

We are thinking of staying at OKW following our cruise next May, a studio near Hospitality House with a bit of luck so I can't wait to see your photos!

We love OKW...I promise lots of pictures for you.

We've not tried OKW before but I think it will really suit us, just got to wait for the 7 month DVC booking window to open

It's a great resort, and the rooms are well sized.

Looking forward to reading along!

Lx

Thanks.

Hi Kathy!!!!

Hi, Rosie.

On board. :)

:surfweb:

So glad to have you here, my friend. :)

Here!! Thank you for the invite, Ms. Kat. :goodvibes

Hi, Millie; I couldn't forget to invite you.

Hurray a PTR from Ms Kathy!!! Ah Mr Mark look so cute. I miss him!!! Yay for OKW and BOG!!!

Just think, Mary, I get to do another PTR in September or October for a trip that includes sweet urchins. You will see cute Mr. Mark soon enough.

Yeah, me too............

You have a TR going?

:woohoo: for another stay at OKW!!!

Can't wait to be back "home."

here! :wave2: Thanks for the invite!

It's not the same when Ali isn't here. :)

I'm here. :)

Tink, good to see you.

Starting to follow some new PTRs and yours is on the list!

Thank you for picking mine...it makes me feel :goodvibes

Hi Kathy

yay another one of your reports - it is so good to back reading along here. Your reports grow so quickly so am glad I got here before getting too far behind.

Thank you for joining again. I'm going to try not to go too fast, but I do have to get this and my TR done in 30 days as I leave in 32. :lmao::lmao:

Thanks for the heads up that you had started Kathy! Great intros and the plans for the first day sound fun!

:flower3: Lisa's here. Thank you...I really like our first day.

I'm going to start Day 2 plans. I have to leave the office in about an hour to go to a wake/memorial service for the husband of a friend I have worked with for 30 years, so I'll only do the first part of the day.

We are up to Saturday, August 17.

We will do our normal routine, as always. I'll get up first, shower, do the light make-up (hey, it's going to be 100 degrees in the shade and I'm not much of a make-up gal anyway) and do my hair (which becasue of said 100 degrees in the shade will more than likely be in a ponytail the entire trip). Then Mark will get up; while he's getting ready, I'll run and get us both some coffee unless I make it in the room. We've ordered from Garden Grocer so breakfast will be in the room this mornikng.

We will be headed here:

We will be at the gates by 7:45 for 8:00 a.m. EMH's.

We will head over and get Fastpasses for

I'm sure we will ride standby right away too since this will our only Studios appearance this trip (unless things change).

From there, Mark and I will split up.

I'll head here

While he'll head to Rock & Roll Roller Coaster.

We'll probably then head to Star Tours (I probably will have something like a donut for breakfast so I should be able to handle it). Then, depending on what time it is, we may try to get into the Animation Studios before our ADR.

We are having lunch here:

Although not gourmet food by any means, we like the theme and the burgers aren't bad; and I love the onion rings.

After lunch, we will fit in what we hadn't done that we still want to do: Animation Studio (if we didn't get in earlier), Great Movie Ride, Beauty & The Beast Show (depending on how hot it is) and The Walt Disney Story.

Up next, our late afternoon/evening plans

DHS morning sounds good!

I have SciFi planned for my maybe trip, for my first time ever eating there.

Yay for DHS! I just love the entrance to that park. So retro. Makes me smile every time.

Plans sound great. Love that you two split up for ToT and RnR. At least they're right next to each other!

We love Sci Fi. It's one of our favorite table service restaurants at Disney. Especially for the dark and cool aspect. It will be, as you said, 100 degrees in the shade. Goofy movie clips are always fun. Good burgers. EXCELLENT onion rings! When we were there on the 4th, one of our friends ordered the fried pickles. Something I always cringed at when I'd hear about. Had them once before at Cheeseburger in Paradise. They were surprisingly good. And Sci-Fi's were good as well. Won't replace my rings but, still good. :)
Hungry just thinking about it...

You know, you are right. I don't recall ever seeing Starbucks at Midway. Must be the reason why I always bee-lined it to the Starbucks at MCO upon landing. Not to mention just a nice welcome to the upcoming days. But, mornings at Midway always meant McD's breakfast. Something I never allowed myself except for those moments. Vacation=Bad Food! lol

Up next, our late afternoon/evening plans

I have never been to Sci-Fi, but the theme does look very appealing. One of these days I will have to do it as an OOP meal. My only concern is that after eating here I will pack on about 10 pounds. My problem is if I eat ice cubes and wash it down with a glass of water I gain at least 5 pounds. :rotfl:

You're doing a PTR, too? Busy lady! :goodvibes I cannot wait to hear all about your plans for this trip...it sounds like its going to be EPIC! :goodvibes And congratulations on 30 years!

I also really fell for OKW when I was there in October. It is a beautiful resort with a really laid back feel. The main pool is adorable, too. The grounds are so lush...I love all the palm trees! And Turtle Crawls...yum! Oh...and Olivia's!

Your DHS plans sound great!

Great Plans so far. Happy 30th Anniversary. Our 30th was last year and we too were at OKW to celebrate it. Loved it there.

Yeah, me too............
You have a TR going?
I was talking about also trying to keep up with your TR AND your PTR........ :faint:

Sounds like a great start to day 2 at DHS, but I would be heading off with Mark to RnR. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about the husband of your friend!

Great plans for the first part of the day!! We are eating at SciFi in October !! I have to have me a Oreo cookie milkshake and that Outta this world cheesecake !!! Prolly will go with the steak for my entree!!! I love the atmosphere too and the corny film clips !!!

Again - I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss Kathy. (((Hugs)))

Love your plans!!! I also love DHS in the morning -the entrace gate is just so awesome!

We are also eating at Sci-fi this time - we have never eaten there before... I need to go look at a few reviews to find out what is good - I have heard not the stray from the burgers there? And this is the first I have heard of the onion rings.... Yup - I feel more research is in order.
