Minus all suites at AOA, ALL Stars & a few others who have the larger fridges. Those weren't impacted just the mini fridges. :confused3

Yeah we were "talking" about that yesterday or the day before. 4 months is a long time to have to replace refrigerators. Hopefully disney is quicker than that. The longest part, I would think, is ordering and waiting for them yo be delivered.

My family and I are planning on staying at Pop Century in early March 2014! We are so excited:) Love the info on this thread!

Ya know, one of these days one of the geniuses at Disney will read this thread and Lakeview will no longer be just a Standard room request. They'll turn it into a bookable category and charge the same as Preferred.

Noooooooooooo....Please don't say that!! We don't want them to get ideas:rotfl2:

If anyone else is there next October 17-26...look me up!

This Oct or 10/14??

We should be there Oct 18-26 (also going those dates this year). :goodvibes Be sure to take some time to tour the shadowboxes in the lobby. It is like taking a stroll down memory lane seeing all of the toys and items we had growing up. :goodvibes

We will be there that week too. :wave2: Oct. 20 - 26. This is our first time at Pop and we are so excited!

Hi fellow mid-late October POPpers :goodvibes DD and I will be there the 18th through the 26th!

We'll be there 10/26-11/2....we've never been to POP and we can't wait!

Anyone know if Pop has the RFID soda fountains yet? Heard they are rolling them out and wondering if they will be there the end of August. Anyone know the price difference for just getting a soda for your meal and not wanting it refilled from the new to old pricing?

I'm staying there for a few days in August for the first time. I requested in the online checkin 50s lakeside. Here's to having a great stay!

Anyone know if POP has been upgraded with Joffrey's coffee in the food court?

Any items on the new food court menu highly recommended?

We were there in Feb, looking forward to the new menu!

I think that none of the 60's preferred views give you a lakeview. Lakeviews are standard rooms. See the resort map: http://s962.photobucket.com/user/br...pg.html?&_suid=137354818030304953152845996053

Personally, we've always reserved standard rooms and I love getting a lakeview, so that is what I request. It is usually granted, but not always. Even though the resort seems large, it really isn't much of a hike to the food court from anywhere (but we have no mobility issues). We've timed our walks from the food court to our rooms and usually the walk is less than 5 minutes to anywhere we've been placed. Personally, I'd save the money and spend it elsewhere.

actually, the phrasing in the link is kind of misleading. the yellow lined rooms are really preferred "location", although is says "view". we had a room in the 60's 2md floor, free upgrade to preferred. it looked out on that ugly laundry roundabout. we were only a few rooms from the stairs and elevator. so the room directly behind us was the same distance to the stairs/elebvators as we were, and yet had a view of the lake... and was cheaper (well, not for us, cuase the upgrade was free)
it was fine for us, but just don't want anyone thinking the category has to do with the view (it does only for pool view)

ironically some standard priced rooms are more convenient to the buses, food court etc. than some preferred. let me explain. if you are in building 1 (50's ) 4th floor. but on the end closest to the food court, you still have to walk back to the elevator, past about 10 rooms. but if you are on the same floor, standard, you could be only 2 rooms away from the elevators, thereby more convenient. (most people won't use the bowling pin stairs for the 4th floor, not every time anyway. )
this is why we don't pay preferred at the values, unless it's all that's left. most rooms aren't that long of a walk, . we usually ask for 2nd floor, since one flight of stairs is pretty easy for us if the elevator isn't there, or if we're close to the end of the building.

You're probably the only one looking forward to the new menu, apparently it's not that great :)

Here is my response from Disney when I emailed them about the fridge. I specifically asked about Pop but didn't get a direct answer.

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

We have discovered a possible issue with one of the refrigerator models
that is widely used in our Guest rooms at certain Walt Disney World
Resort hotels.

Because of the possible issue, we will disable use of the impacted
refrigerators by unplugging the refrigerators, binding the electrical
cord, tagging the cord with a do not use label and placing a Guest
letter on the refrigerator.

We are working to procure replacement refrigerators quickly, but this
could take several months to accomplish. We appreciate that many guests
use these refrigerators regularly and we do have a limited number of
replacements on hand. Should you have a particular need for a
refrigerator for your stay, please contact us at 407-934-7693 to have
the request noted on your reservation.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Sincerely,

Alea Wilkins

According to a release on the Disney Travel Agent site, if you request a fridge, but one is unavailable when you arrive, you will receive a $15 per night credit. Those needing the fridge for medical reasons will have priority (as they should). While it would be inconvenient to not have one, I think their compensation is very generous. Disney has the best customer service. :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to trying the corned beef hash. Not a lot of places still have that.

I'm sure they have a ton of people emailing them about the refrigerator situation. It doesn't surprise me that they have a generalized email going out. I don't think we'll need a refrigerator when we go in October but it'll be nice to have one just in case.

That's very impressive. At least they're acknowledging the inconvenience and compensating for it. They're probably the only company that would do that.
