I do not want a pool view due to noise issues. If I booked a standard room, are there any requests I should make to be sure my room is quiet such as top floor or a specific building?

Our request is always 50s section, Building C, Illuminations view. Has worked for us each time and you are away from the pool.

We don't, we simply make the request in that exact manner. Twice we were given the same room and the third time, the room next to it.

Thank You! I will put that in my notes. Distances to Bus Stop or Pools or Food Court are not an issue. Since the room is for sleeping, I'd like to sleep :goodvibes

Do you mean bldg "3" because the bldgs are numbers not letters? Just trying to clarify because this could be confusing to someone new to the resort. Bldgs are numbered 1 thru 10.

Yes and they know what you mean when you say "c".

Thank you for the clarification. I'm sure they would have understood either way. Just to be sure I will look it up on the resort map.

You have both been very helpful.:goodvibes

Yes, I am new to the resort. I would not be going for 9 days if not for going to a Value. In 2010, DBF and I went to F&W and stayed at the Beach Club for 5 nights. I loved the location and was a little spoiled by a Deluxe (previously stayed at Mods since Values didn't exist when I first went). However, DBF said the amenities he cared about most (transportation, EMH and DME) has nothing to do with level of resort. Also, we were not impressed by the service at BC and all of the hot tubs needed new elements and were not even warmer than the pool so...

This trip we will be going to Orlando for 2 Weeks. Cost is a little more of a concern since my income has taken a hit and we will be focusing on dining and a longer trip instead of hotel amenities. We will also spend the rest of the time at SeaWorld and US/IOA. This is our BIG trip for a while until we save up enough for our European vacation.

I am grateful to POP veterans for their advice and suggestions. I will certainly be assertive in my expectations according to "Disney Standards"...not Deluxe or Moderate or VIP or anything but an expectation of clean and sanitary will be expected. A good night's sleep will be important. And of course, the Disney spirit of magic in CMs would be appreciated:)

This is my first Value resort experience but I am not a pampered princess. We motorcycle and I have camped in a tent, stayed at a motel 6, as well as 5 star resorts on other vacations. My expectations are based on my expectations and I really want to stay at POP because my Deluxe experience was not very Deluxe. I was convinced this was my resort by skimming pretty much the entire POP thread.

I did not understand the "request" thing or the "preferred room" thing however so I appreciate the veterans who have jumped in to help.

If anyone else is there next October 17-26...look me up!

We should be there Oct 18-26 (also going those dates this year). :goodvibes Be sure to take some time to tour the shadowboxes in the lobby. It is like taking a stroll down memory lane seeing all of the toys and items we had growing up. :goodvibes

A quick lesson on room numbers at POP...they are 4 digits. The first digit is the bldg # (1 thru 10 and bldg ten is represented by 0), the second digit is the floor (1 thru 4), the last 2 are your actual room # within the bldg (there are 78 rooms in each bldg so 01 thru 78).

On my trip in January we stayed in 512X with a fabulous view of the lake!! And watched AoA under construction...
On my trip in March, I stayed in 310X. I had the BEST mousekeeper I think I have ever had there!! She made the best towel animals and did a fabulous job cleaning!! When I came in May, I managed to snag the same exact room again! Woot! The hotel occupancy was pretty low and I 'bribed' my friend in room assigning! Hahaha. This was a std room but an awesome location!!! Loved loved loved it!!!
For our June trip, we got connecting 110Xs. They were a preferred location but it was an upgrade on the hotel's part due to some booking issues. The hotel wasn't very full anyway. During the week, the occupancy wasn't even at 50%. I liked the location just fine but can't say it was any better than the previous.
For my July 1st trip, I was in 115X. It was a nice location since DD had her car there! Close to the parking lot and still a short walk up the one walkway to Classic Hall. I am definitely partial to the 50's & 60's sections and probably prefer the 50's a little more! I like the quietness of the 50's and ground floor is an absolute must for me.
I truly hope you enjoy POP as much as I do. It has TRULY been my home away from home this year with 38 nights there this year alone (to visit DD). It's a lot of fun with a lot of CMs who have worked there for many years and who care very much about their jobs!! :)

I have read trip reports by you (I believe). I booked ... patiently waiting for July 10. That photo is fabulous!

I put your notations in my "notes book". Thank you for the information. I feel I owe you all a trip report. I have never done one and somehow, can't manage more than 4 photos a day. Better get it together.

We will be there that week too. :wave2: Oct. 20 - 26. This is our first time at Pop and we are so excited!

Hi all!! Hoping for some help

I currently have a preferred room booked with FD. My ideal location would be 60's lakeview (is this even possible in preferred?)

I booked preferred because I know all requests are just that requests and I did not want to end up stuck in the back of the resort with a really long walk to the buses/ Classic Hall.

Do you all think preferred is worth it? Would you change to standard and save the 130.00 (would almost pay for our MNSSHP tickets) :thumbsup2 I do not mind a bit of a walk but anything over 5 minutes to refill our mugs is pushin it!! Thanks guys

I think that none of the 60's preferred views give you a lakeview. Lakeviews are standard rooms. See the resort map: http://s962.photobucket.com/user/br...pg.html?&_suid=137354818030304953152845996053

Personally, we've always reserved standard rooms and I love getting a lakeview, so that is what I request. It is usually granted, but not always. Even though the resort seems large, it really isn't much of a hike to the food court from anywhere (but we have no mobility issues). We've timed our walks from the food court to our rooms and usually the walk is less than 5 minutes to anywhere we've been placed. Personally, I'd save the money and spend it elsewhere.

That isn't a preferred section. We booked preferred on year due to availability during fD. That was all that was left. We were placed in building one which is 50's . I asked the front desk if there was anything in the 60's facing the lake and there was. They actually refunded me the diffrence not something I asked for since it was my doing.

I never booked preferred that was the only case. I say save the money. Unless someone has mobility issues ect. If worst case there isn't anything in the 60's you could ask for the 50's. Honestly the resort is set up so I don't really think any building is more than a 5 minute walk as long as you take the shortcuts.

Ya know, one of these days one of the geniuses at Disney will read this thread and Lakeview will no longer be just a Standard room request. They'll turn it into a bookable category and charge the same as Preferred.

Bill!!! :ssst: :ssst: :ssst:

:offtopic: Has anyone heard about all the fridges being removed from all the resorts? There was a fire in one of them at Grand Floridian ( I think) so all mini fridges have been removed and will take several months to be returned?? If this is true, how sad, was really looking to heaving a fridge..
