Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Morning to all! :coffee:

Moving way too slow this AM....Bill and I worked in the yard yesterday :upsidedow a verrrrrrry long time. Now I'm paying for it. However, the yard is looking quite lovely :teeth:

Got this on EBay...couldn't resist. I've seen a pirate Minnie too the same size with a parrot on her shoulder that I thought about for DD...

Adorable! A child can never have too many stuffed Mickey's ;)

So...I am still at AKL and am staying there from 7//8 to 7/13. Coronado is gone (for that last night) and I have CL for the first 3 nites and pool view for the last two (at 30% off) My hubby was so disappointed with losing the Wanyama Safari and trying CL...(he works so, so hard) that this was a good solution and did save some $$ as well. I definitely feel I have "cemented" my place in the RC thread! :rotfl: Thank you all for your support! So we arrive on the 5th at BC...13 more days! :)

The Banana dancing will commence for you, too!!!! Plus a pic;)

You will soooooooo love AKL CL and the pool, also....just a great resort overall!

We had a downpour here too.

Didn't last long, and definitely helped cool things off. Made the yard work a bit more bearable!

On a side note, I booked our room reservation today. I totally changed my mind and booked a LK suite at AoA instead of 2 deluxe rooms. I am saving $400 that way, and I realized I had lost focus. The type of room isn't that important to me. It is getting to take the kids to MNSSHP and the fun we will have.

:dance3:

Doing some summer cleaning today....starting with the kids' closets :sad2: Ya never know what's lurking behind closed doors....wonder if I'll find any Hidden Mickey's

:wave2: to all the RC Peeps!
Heather

So we moved over to BWI 30% off and $1000 less :yay: I am another who feels CL is way too much $ if your just a party of 2, You can buy a lot of food for $900 :thumbsup2
Did you just say what I think you said? :faint: Your Poly ressie was the longest "buy and hold" in RC history. Now none of us are safe. Well, I for one adore BWI and am thrilled for your change. And I know you like it there too. :lovestruc Did you get that boardwalk view room with your big CL $ savings? ;)

Woo Hoo! I will be there soon! How are the pools? Crowded? Refreshing?? Inquiring minds want to know!!:rotfl:

HStrickland...Thank you for that pool pic! I am so excited!:)

Koh1977 So cute! My daughter is 30 and in "Disney age" that's 3...and she has tons of WDW stuffed animals that she will never part with!!!:rotfl:

Feeling pretty good about how it all turned out...a bit expensive, but better than it was. Since I had to have a supervisor fix everything...I had better just stay off the phone til we go!! ::yes::

MAGIC Noooooooo Change here! Still at the Poly this was back in 3/12 :rotfl2:

Happy anniversary! Friends of ours have a wolfhound. Now we have a collie so he's not a small dog, but that wolfhound (Penny) is ginormous! She is taller than my 7 year old! :scared1: But she is beautiful and so gentle. I think it's always the big dogs who have the big hearts! :lovestruc

He really is the sweetest dog. I could just sit on the couch with him all day.

:rotfl: Did you enjoy the movie? It wasn't reviewed very well on my favourite website but then nothing ever is there.

We all really liked it. There were a couple of things I was exactly happy about, but since you haven't seen it (and it would give to much away), that is a conversation for another time.

We had a downpour here too. We all were eating lunch at our parent's house, the rain started and my sister remembered she left the crib she failed to sell at our yard sale outside so we raced to her house to put it on the porch. So, she now has a crib on her porch instead of in the yard. Gotta love life in the south!

Well, as long as there isn't a baby still in the crib...:lmao:

On a side note, I booked our room reservation today. I wasn't going to book until tomorrow because that is when I would be able to do the one night deposit for 2 deluxe rooms. But, long story short, I totally changed my mind and booked a LK suite at AoA instead of 2 deluxe rooms. I am saving $400 that way, and I realized I had lost focus. The type of room isn't that important to me. It is getting to take the kids to MNSSHP and the fun we will have. That is what's important to me. Plus, it doesn't hurt that $400 is a start of our September 2014 fund.

Even though I am set on my LK choice, I would like to stick around because 2014 is way up in the air :rotfl:

With that, you can put down your deposit once they release the 2014 package prices.

Stick around as long as you like. After this trip, we for sure aren't going back until after Star Wars Land opens up.

Only 76 days and I will be there in person.

Doing some summer cleaning today....starting with the kids' closets :sad2: Ya never know what's lurking behind closed doors....wonder if I'll find any Hidden Mickey's

Heather

I hope you took flares in with you in case you get lost and need to signal a search party.

ok, so I'm just full of questions today....maybe it's the whole putting off taking my final.

1.Split stay questions
I finally convinced the DH that with us getting in at midnight and leaving by 10 AM the next morning it was a waste to spend close to $250 (once you add in taxes) for a stay at the Swan. He opted for the Pop Century instead. Since we have never done a split stay, how does it work with getting them to transport your luggage? Do we just call bell services the morning we are checking out of the Pop, they will come and get it and then it will magically appear later in our AKL room? Do I need to allow time for bell services to come and pick up the luggage? In other words, we need to stay with the room until they do pick it up and I need to make sure to allow enough time that we are out of the room by the 11 AM check out? Then do we stop by the Pop front desk before heading off to the AKL? Finally do you think it would be ok to just leave the minivan overnight in that front parking lot (where you park when you check in) since we'll be getting in close (or after midnight) and checking out before 10?

2. Pizza delivery
So, after looking through the Food Porn thread, I found out that Giordano's Famous Chicago Pizza will deliver to the AKL. We love a good Chicago stuffed pie!! I called the DH and told him about it, and he approved my idea of having on delivered the day we are hanging out all day at the resort before MNSSHP. Well I have had pizza delivered at hotels and had one of two things happen. 1) when the delivery person arrives at the front desk, they call your room and make sure it's ok to send them up 2) when the delivery person arrives at the front desk, they call you, and tell you to come to the front desk to pick it up. Does anyone know which way it is handled at Disney resorts?

3. 20th wedding anniversary
I am totally convinced that we NEED to go to WDW for our 20th wedding anniversary, especially since the England or Aulani trips I want to take are really looking out for now. After all the recent problems with cruises, I don't really want to take a non-Disney one. I am thinking the DH and I can drive to WDW stay only a couple of days and stay at the GF. Then we could do something else, like a beach, in Florida. I was thinking maybe Key West, at first, but now I'm thinking that may be too far of a drive. It may only be about 7 hours to Key West from the Orlando area, but it's about a 24 hour drive home. Any suggestions of places to tempt the DH with? I'm thinking if I can tempt him with some deep sea fishing, he may be willing to go to WDW for a few days at least.
ETA...ooooo or maybe we could do DL and then tour CA's wine country.

Hello! Off to work in about 5 minutes...ugh. Disney in 12 days!!!

I'd be interested in the luggage transfer as well...I want to get to AKL quickly from BC..first thing in the morning if possible...gotta get the most outta AKL CL!! Hopefully it will happen Magically!
I really loved POP, and that sounds like a great plan. I wouldn't want to waste that $$ either. I'm doing the pizza too...once we check into the pool view on the 11th...It sounds delish..so info about that will be much appreciated too!

Have a great afternoon everyone...hoping my Bruins pull out a win tonight..even if I am at work for most of the game.::yes::

Good afternoon ladies! :goodvibes

Been running around like a headless chicken all morning. Gardening all this past weekend (of the flower variety instead of vegetable). Kiddo has a rash all over her arms and legs -- warm to the touch. :( We think it's from some Off! mosquito repellant we used on her. It looks like sunburn but only on the spots I sprayed her with the bug spray. So, up to rinse her off (again) with some Cetaphil and slather on some Caladryl lotion... and a dose of Benadryl tonight before bedtime. :headache: She's feeling fine... it just itches like crazy so I'm constantly having to tell her to leave it alone. :faint:

Wookster: I'll post that picture on the FB group page. Perhaps I should title it: "What Miss M really thinks about Clone Wars..." :lmao: (She actually told us when we were there, "Mommy, Daddy? You know, I really don't like Clone Wars. It's kinda boring and doesn't have all the cool characters like in the original Star Wars." Love that kid.

Wookie -- did you say Giordano's?? Like THE Giordano's that's in Chi-town?? I'm going to have to see if there's one that delivers to the Hilton at Sea World!!

35 days til we leave!!!!

Just stopped at the Five Below which I actually really like and got 2 noodles, some goggles for DS, a hair thing so I can try putting my hair up in a bun some days instead of always a ponytail when we're there, AND a penguin travel pillow for DS! (He has a dog one, but this one is a penguin so I couldn't pass it up. Figure I can use his other one in the car). :-)

I'm going to assume this is the one the person used, since it says it's in the Disney area.

Both my DS like the Clone Wars. I just think they like Star Wars in any form they can get it.

So I just got chastised for buying what DH called junk - 2 pool noodles, goggles for DS, and penguin travel pillow for DS since he's obsessed with penguins...definitely not the time to mention the pirate themed things I've been collecting for the reveal...

Sounds like my DH.

I'm like your DS, I love penguins!! When we went to Sea World, we spent an hour (easily) inside the penguin house. The youngest DS held his nose the entire time because he said "it was stinky".

Queen of Split Stay here .... :rotfl2: To transfer luggage just call bell services and they will come to your room, tag and load up your luggage. Now my only advise is to make sure that you have everything you'll need for the day with you (swimsuit, sunscreen, etc) as your stuff probably won't make it to your new resort until between 3-4 pm. Your luggage will not magically appear in your room. You will have to call down to bell services and they will bring it up to you. You will need to be in your room when they pick up and deliver your stuff. I usually allow about 20 minutes or so at both ends. Hope that answers some of your questions. :thumbsup2

Just one more question about it....
Since we will be driving, we will have a cooler. What do you think the best way to handle getting it to the AKL is. Should we do it ourselves, and just hope our room is ready so we can put it in the room before heading to the MK, or will bell services take that as well (there wouldn't be any ice in it, but there would be drinks)? In case it makes a difference, it's the kind that can roll and has a handle like luggage.

UGH!! I lost all my multiquotes and I am still so far behind......

:grouphug: Hope everyone is doing well!

I hate when that happens. Before I figured out how I could fix my problem with that happening, I would just get so frustrated that I would have to walk away from my laptop.

All is good here. Hopefully, the guy working on installing the new shower will get it done today. He was having some issue early and had to leave to get something he needed. The mil was saying that it was something about an issue with the welding. :confused3

oooo, and super funny story to share about the DH.
The DH is an appliance repair man. When he is on his way to a customer's home, he calls them, let's them know he is on his way, and approximately how many minutes until he arrives. Well, he is used to women calling him "honey", "sweety", "sugar", so at first he didn't think anything about it. According to him, the conversation went something like this to "his last customer".
"Female customer" - Hey baby (in a very sexy voice)
DH - Hi, this is David, with (insert company name), just wanted to let you know that I am on my way to your home and should be there in approximately x-minutes.
"Female customer" - What do you want honey (in a very sexy voice)
DH - To fix your appliance
"Female customer" - What do you want sexy (in a very sexy voice)
DH - (At this point the DH thinks something is off) To repair your dish washer. I am with (insert company name) and I have an appointment with you to come out today and look at your dishwasher.
"Female customer" - (who suddenly lost her sexy voice) Just what number do you think you called?
DH - Looks at the ticket and repeats the number he thinks he called
"Female customer" - Sir, you have dialed the wrong number. This is a police sting number with the purpose to catch men looking for (thinks of Disney way to say this) paying for love.

Moral of the story, check the number twice before you dial.

Looks like your DH and I learned the same lesson. Tell him not to dial 800 instead of 407 when calling the WDTC:rolleyes1

Well, I've offficially lost my mind...just changed BACk to Beach Club! The Grand /monorail resorts were calling my name, but so was club level. GF club was a bit more than I wanted to bite off, Poly and Contemporary sold out. I know we will love Beach Club though. I've been following that thread for months and I've learned so much from those great folks :)
Leaving in TWO days!!! Checking into POR for the night on Thursday and into BC on Friday! Can't wait!
