~The same can be said about the Yeti, ewww.I just dont think aliens fit in with the theme myself
plus, i did not really care for the movie. Old story and dull characters
Buts not to say the attractions won't be fun. Just wished they did something else
.........I wouldn't expect the masses to be overcome with excitement.

~Hi MJMcBride! It's been a while, I have to get caught up on your fabulous blog later. But, I hope you're right about D23 and that you're finally beginning to get excited about Avatarland!!!I'm thinkin we will see concept art at D23

~As for Australia, there is plenty of space for Disney to revisit (or visit) the concept for a later expansion. I love koala bears & kangaroos, but I just don't see the hype behind this concept, I guess. For me, it's like an Australian theme park featuring the Grand Canyon -- I wouldn't expect the masses to be overcome with excitement.
I don't get the hype for Australia either... don't get me wrong, I am not hating on the 'Land Down Under'... personally I would LOVE to go to Australia, but I find the repeated push for an Australia expansion odd... especially considering that is seems a lot of AK hating folks already complain the zoo-ish or animal portion of Animal Kingdom is boring and not worth their theme park time... If you are not going to focus on critters then what? An Ayers Rock ride?
~Aww, thanks beer dave. This is a good thing, right??? Just kidding. Thanks for "holding down the fort," lol.Things are livening up around here again-- It was pretty boring while you and others were gone! It seems we need the "team" energy.
~Hi Super Mag! Thanks so much for joining the party! This is a fabulous post, just fabulous. You have very keen insight and a knack for writing -- reading this was such a treat! I wholeheartedly agree with every single point you've made here! I really hope Disney announces something soon! It's going to be very exciting to watch all of this come together!I don't get the hype for Australia either... don't get me wrong, I am not hating on the 'Land Down Under'... personally I would LOVE to go to Australia, but I find the repeated push for an Australia expansion odd... especially considering that is seems a lot of AK hating folks already complain the zoo-ish or animal portion of Animal Kingdom is boring and not worth their theme park time... I can't wait to see what they do with the Avatar concept, and seeing tech teasers like the interactive plants I am getting even more excited. IMHO it is a good fit with AK... conservation... respect for the beauty and uniqueness of natural things ... what DOESN't fit with the AK theme? And yes I saw Avatar ... didn't like it or hate it... as I am not much of a movie fiend that is not unusual.
It will be the attractions that make the new land a success or a failure... not a movie... pre or post. For example my favorite WDW ride (Space Mountain) isn't connected to any movie and I have been hooked on it ever since I rode it the first time at age 12 in the '80s Having a movie as a parent is NOT a requirement for a successful ride ... take for example the classic rides Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. PoC spawned a VERY successful movie franchise spin off ... and the Haunted Mansion ride's appeal was NOT ruined by its not so successful movie child. Lets just be happy they are doing something new.
Hi newbieva! Welcome to the party! I love your thinking -- this concept has enormous potential to be very cool!Thank goodness for DISboards! Just learned about this and it sounds really cool.
~Hi mvk! I don't know, the Nemo show is so boring to me, I was even tempted to go stand in the rain to keep from falling asleep. At first, I thought it was the bad seats (we were way in the back), but I've read several reviews that echoed the same sentiment. With that said, the theater was packed but it was also pouring rain.I imagine they could do some really good things with an Australia theme, including the Great Barrier Reef and aquatic themed attractions and shows (dolphin and seal shows). The Nemo show would obviously be a part of this. I think this area would be more about the oceans/seas than about the physical land, and that is something that AK doesn't currently focus much on. Aquarium area with sharks, seals, dolphins, etc. Of course, they could have some land-based animals such as kangaroos, koalas, wallaby's, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, etc.
I don't want Australia to replace Avatar, but I think it would be a very good concept. I can also see a South America/Amazon land being

Good to add someone to the pro's -- but with out the cons, we would soon have nothing to discuss. " No, I like Avatar more than you do..."

Personally, I don't understand the people that don't like the animal treks. They are some of the most interesting and certainly best themed areas in a any park
