plus, i did not really care for the movie. Old story and dull characters

~I hope you give the Imagineers the benefit of the doubt. We have no idea how Disney will adapt and interpret Avatar to fit in and compliment AK. I really think you will love it!

IMHO it is a good fit with AK... conservation... respect for the beauty and uniqueness of natural things ... what DOESN't fit with the AK theme? And yes I saw Avatar ... didn't like it or hate it... as I am not much of a movie fiend that is not unusual.

It will be the attractions that make the new land a success or a failure... not a movie... pre or post. For example my favorite WDW ride (Space Mountain) isn't connected to any movie and I have been hooked on it ever since I rode it the first time at age 12 in the '80s Having a movie as a parent is NOT a requirement for a successful ride ... take for example the classic rides Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. PoC spawned a VERY successful movie franchise spin off ... and the Haunted Mansion ride's appeal was NOT ruined by its not so successful movie child. Lets just be happy they are doing something new.

I imagine they could do some really good things with an Australia theme, including the Great Barrier Reef and aquatic themed attractions and shows (dolphin and seal shows). The Nemo show would obviously be a part of this. I think this area would be more about the oceans/seas than about the physical land, and that is something that AK doesn't currently focus much on. Aquarium area with sharks, seals, dolphins, etc. Of course, they could have some land-based animals such as kangaroos, koalas, wallaby's, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, etc.

I don't want Australia to replace Avatar, but I think it would be a very good concept. I can also see a South America/Amazon land being

~Hi mvk! I don't know, the Nemo show is so boring to me, I was even tempted to go stand in the rain to keep from falling asleep. At first, I thought it was the bad seats (we were way in the back), but I've read several reviews that echoed the same sentiment. With that said, the theater was packed but it was also pouring rain.

~Also, I don't know if it's a good idea for Disney to venture into sea life. We've seen the fabulous job Disney has done with the Living Seas Pavillion in Epcot! Do we really need more of something like that?!?

~I hadn't thought of the Amazon, but that could be something very interesting for AK but not in lieu of Avatarland.

I want to say it is the seats-- We are a "theatre family" . Three of my four girls preform, as well as DW, and we love the live vocals and "puppeteering?"

From closer seating, I like to see the actors faces while singing and watch how they work the puppets. I think it makes it much more personal.

The Nemo show is boring to you? Wow, that is a surprise to me. I found the Nemo show to be the best show in WDW, slightly ahead of Festival of the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.

Personally, I don't understand the people that don't like the animal treks. They are some of the most interesting and certainly best themed areas in a any park

I agree, I also love that aspect of AK... and the animals were the reason I chose AKV as my home when we got into DVC.

I've read a lot of people around the internet and Dis stating that they don't think Avatar is iconic or enduring enough to really be a success as a themed land. I just hope that's not true. While it hasn't really gone down as a classic yet, maybe the upcoming sequel that's supposed to happen will reignite the excitement for Avatar. And I'm hoping that if Disney really does invest all the time and money we are hearing about, as well as make it conceptually and visually stunning enough, it will be a lasting success and not just entertaining in the short term. I think it could be worth it if they really make it stand out, and if they utilize new ideas and new technology. People seem to want the next big thing, and after seeing Wizarding World at IOA, I think that's gotta be done.

It's true that Disney does so well in large part because of the timeless characters that only Disney has brought and continues to bring to people around the world...its hard to replicate that kind of thing. But I try to keep in mind that there are some attractions at Disney that aren't directly related to characters and movies that people would consider timeless or super beloved.
