DH and I are heading down for a quick 4 day long weekend from June 15th to the 18th. It'll be a non park weekend, so we'll be spending lots of time eating .

I'd be happy to do live updates.

And I'd be happy to have you do live updates again! Do you still have my info for sending your updates or would like me to send that to you again?

We have received a few updates already this morning so let's get started, shall we?


Our First Update of the Day was sent to us by a new reporter who arrived at Disney World last night, emmebear.


They first went to Hollywood Studios...












...to ride TSM.













Then on the way back to their hotel in Downtown Disney, they stopped at the AoA Resort for their first Disney meal of the trip at...






Here's how it looked at 10:45 last night...

emmebear said, "We both chose the Create your own Pasta. I really wanted the Indian (World of Flavors), as I saw Buttered Chicken on the menu (which was new), but they were closed at 10:45."





"For my pasta I had the Spaghetti & Alfredo sauce. I added chicken, garlic, peas, broccoli & sun-dried tomatoes. They added cheese at the end if you want it."





"It was delicious! I added crushed red pepper, some salt and pepper and it was yummy. Although I hadn't eaten since 11:00 a.m. that day. It was much better than my pasta from last October."





"Emme got the Kids Pasta and they added broccoli. Adding stuff to Kids Pasta is apparently a big no no. At Port Orleans, if I added anything extra to her pasta they were going to charge me for an adult portion!"





"Emme also got milk plus 2 sides with her Kids meal. She chose yogurt and apples."



"And the best part is that they take TIW (20% discount) and no gratuity is added. I saved $3.40 on our meal!"





"For $14.47 we got a whole bunch of food by Disney standards."







"Overall, it was a satisfying meal at AoA. I'm glad we skipped Magic Kingdom."



Yes, it looks like Emme had something else in mind other than celebrating all night at Magic Kingdom...

Yay! Emmebear update!

I had to warn her about those crowds at MK. I heard they were turning away parking and you had to park at Epcot. Also there was like a line to get in that took an hour!

"The cobb salad was amazing, as always!"







Crisy Phyllo Napoleon of Bleu Affine - with wild mushroom duxelles, grilled portobello, golden chanterelles, and a fig reduction

"Phyllo app was okay. I thought the blue cheese was overpowering."






Andouille-crusted Prawn over Black Diamond cheddar grits, wilted greens and ancho oil

"Prawn app was yummy but only one prawn."

"DD said they were very good! The batter was tempura-like and they weren't at all greasy!"

Spit-roasted American Bison over wilted locally grown winter greens, tossed in an herb-shallot vinaigrette, with roasted fingerling potatoes and a cocoa espresso barbecue sauce







Description missing again, so I'll say...

Charred-glazed Filet of Beef with a red wine reduction, topped with a cabernet and roasted shallot butter, over white truffle oil wild forest mushroom mashed potato, sauteed haricot verts and golden beets






Okay, what do you think on this one? I'll say...

Sterling Silver Pork Chop with smoked gouda and heirloom apple slaw served over potato hash with bacon, Napa cabbage, sweet peppers and a cider jus



Now for dessert...




"The grapefruit cake was delicious - served very cold, it has a refreshingly bitter flavor."







"This was supposed to be Chocolate Three Ways. We were late for a Star Wars show since the meal took long, so we didn't check. It did not seem like what was described on the menu, but there were 3 kinds of chocolate. It was alright but the orange peel flavor overpowered the chocolate flavors."​

Barb, running this thread has surely made you THE expert on identifying Disney food! If there were a "Name! That! DISH!" gameshow, you would surely walk away a millionaire!

Oh man, we're eating at HBD soon and I am so torn on that grapefruit cake. On one hand, everyone loves it. On the other hand...I hate grapefruit.

Took most of the night off, so now I'm really behind. Let's see how many updates I can get posted before I fall asleep at the keyboard.


First up is an update from a new reporter who arrived at Disney World late last night, Paula (smile4stamps).




She began her trip with a meal worth 10 points, lunch at...







The lounge waiting area...

To start, Paula chose...




The Wave Cobb Salad with Locally-sourced Greens and Tomatoes, Naturally Raised Eggs, Bacon Florida Avocados, Midnight Moon Cheese and Lime-Chili Vinaigrette (on the side)


"The salad was smaller than I expected. Good in a way as I have a lot of food coming up today but kinda sad for the price. The bacon on it was delicious though!"



And for her entree, she had the...




Seasonal Soup and Sandwich with Hand-carved Roast Turkey on a Foccacia Round


"The soup is a mushroom onion. Very similar to a French onion. The turkey sandwich is really good. A little too much mayo but it has a cherry jam that is delightful!"




Then Paula sent us some bonus pics of the bakery case at the Contempo Cafe...










"I went to see if they had a return of the peanut butter cupcake but sadly they have not."

Jen said, "Well we're home and this is my last update. We had some quick serve credits left so we decided to head to Roaring Fork and pick up some sandwiches for later. We chose the turkey and the ham. They were both decent even hours later. And the house made chips... YUM! They must have been even better fresh."

Next we have 1coolnini's update from her lunch today at Epcot's...








"This is where we had lunch today. I know....I know ...we just had Mexican food yesterday and once again I forgot my number one rule of dining "never eat Mexican food outside of Southern California", but since we were kind of in Mexico I thought we would give it a shot. We usually eat Mexican food once a week and usually at this point in any vacation we are desperate."



"Here's their menu...






"I had the chicken tacos...

"And here's our order of chips and guacamole...










"How did that margarita get in the photo?"




"These are churritos (mini-churros) with caramel sauce. Don't order these. We took one bite and threw them away."








"For dessert I had a lime Popsicle. It was cold and sweet."







"Actually this place was pretty good. Tacos were more like "street tacos". Three small, but nice and soft corn tortillas filled with flavorful meat. The guacamole was pretty good too. Probably not freshly made but still decent. The chips weren't as good as we get at home but were a great vehicle to get the guacamole from the plate to our mouth. We would return."
