A Disney Geek-tastic Trip to the World Updated 3/27!

Great TR so far! You really cover a lot of ground! These pictures are amazing, I am heading back (fingers crossed) in November and really need some pointers for better pictures and the color and light your guy's shots are incredible! If he would share any setting or photo tips I would be SO grateful!

I love 50's PT! How wonderful that you guys got a great waitress! I agree, the portions are so huge, so easy to share. I never had the onion rings there, love the little fryer!
I would have sat out ToT too. But I do love Franklin's pictures of the queue!

That dessert looks AMAZING! I was too full our last meal at 50's but that would have been awesome. Wish I would have thought to share a meal with someone. Darn! The onion rings in the little fryer is probably the most adorable presentation of food I've ever seen! :cutie:

ToT is one of my all time favorite queues, and Franklin's photos did not disappoint! That one of the ghosts is pretty incredible. :thumbsup2

I agree, that sundae does look PERFECT! I was too full to get dessert last time we went. I plan on it next time!

DTD can be a hard place to incorporate into the Disney schedule. We tend to do one meal and some shopping there on each trip. But our rule when it comes to DTD is NO BUSES! Seriously, the bus to and from DTD can easily take an hour each way for no good reason. So we either go by rental car or cab. It makes the experience much less stressful.

OMG... this is total truth...:scared: We had a great meal at Raglan Road during our last trip as well... & I think the shopping is really cute... but it is a complete and total nightmare to get there on the bus... our ride back last time was so completely awful that I just decided to go into denial when I wrote that part up in my TR and just pretend it didn't happen versus relive it... :rotfl2: We'll have a car in July so that's good and when we go again without a car... we'll definitely we cabbing it there...

I didn't know that the Studios is now doing a soft opening... to avoid that TSM stampede madness... it's such a cute ride... but not worth getting run over for...;) I love the gift shop for Star Wars... I have a little guy here who made a couple of those little droids... pretty cute...:thumbsup2

Your facial expression on RnRC made me laugh because that's pretty much what I do (on several rides)... that take off just makes me automatically do that... & I think I stayed that way for half of the ride... It was pretty fun at that point...:rotfl2:

It really sounds like you had a fab waitress at 50s... we haven't been there in a while and it's good to know they or at least she let you split an entree without too much fuss... (I have a friend with Crohn's and she has managed it well except of course during flare ups...I know that's not fun... )

I think all onion rings need to come in their own little fry basket...:goodvibes

Hi friends! My apologies, I'd hoped to put up another TR chapter before our trip, but the trip is now upon us! We leave at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning for five days in a one-bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower.

Like all of our Disney trips, Franklin and I will be live tweeting the trip with lots of photos (and the tweets will also flow into my Facebook account). If you want to follow along, feel free to friend me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter.

Have a good week everyone!

Have a fantastic trip!!!

Just got caught up on your last chapter from HS- yummy meal and great waitress at 50's- hooray! You are totally right about the portions there.

Except for the onion rings. Maybe they put them in the fry basket to distract you from noticing there are only 4 for around $6 so they are $1.50 per ring! That totally drives me bonkers at Sci Fi (but we still have to get them)

When I saw the picture with the caption "Ugh. How dare that one cloud blemish an otherwise beautiful sky?" at first I thought you meant the Tower!!! ;)

Have a great trip! Just sent you a friend request. Hope to follow your trip adventures soon:thumbsup2

Wow, so it's been about a month since our last TR update. But it's been a very busy month. Lots of fun wedding planning stuff (cake tasting!) and, of course, another wonderful trip to Disney. If you want to read all about that trip, head on over to our brand new TR, "Food, Friendship, Flowers and a Touch of the Force." Yep, this means I have three TRs going at once. :scared1: I really must not value free time. :lmao: In the meantime, on with the January show!

We last left off with an inch-by-inch photo tour of Tower of Terror. Franklin and I had gotten a lot done in our DHS morning, so we felt pretty good about heading back to the resort. There was a pool calling us.

Now, I know some of you have been waiting for the big comparison, exactly how does Luna Park Pool stack up against Stormalong Bay across the late at Beach Club/Yacht Club. Yes, SAB is a more dynamic pool with lots of different features (lazy river, sinking sands, etc.) but, pound for pound, I love the scenery at Luna Park more. Everything is so colorful and so well themed.

I love, love, LOVE the colorful posters that surround the pool. It lends the theme real authenticity.

It was warm, but not hot by any means. Yet the pool was pretty busy. I had come out thinking we’d hop in the pool. But standing there in a swimsuit, it was a tad chilly. So we headed for the hot tub instead. Well, I did and Franklin finished taking pictures. No sooner had I climbed into an empty hot tub, then a half-dozen kids come running into the hot tub. Now I’m not someone who complains about kids at Disney. It’s Disney World, I know it’s a family setting and kids come with the territory, but once they started doing flips in the hot tub, I did get a smidge perturbed. Where were their parents? Oh right, yelling over from the pool bar.

Thankfully the families had an ADR to get to and the kids cleared out so I could relax. A few other adults climbed in and joked with me about surviving the invasion. Franklin also arrived at the hot tub and we enjoyed a nice bit of relaxation.

Soon enough though, it was time to head upstairs to shower. It was another gorgeous afternoon in the Epcot resort area.

We didn’t have far to go for our evening plans. We were heading for Epcot. And man, was the commute long!

We strolled pretty quickly through the World Showcase. But don’t worry, we’d be back shortly. We just had a date with Future World.

I love this park at night. The fountains and the different buildings are just so beautiful all lit up!

It was time for Franklin and I to do something we’d both been dying to do... ride the redesigned Test Track. :car:

The difference in the queue between the last version of the attraction and this one was striking. Gone was the 90s-style crash test dummies and garage tools and in their place a futuristic car design studio.

Gah! They moved the camera! We did our funny pose as we crashed through the door. But we found out afterward that the camera is now outside. Foiled!

Here’s my take on the new Test Track. I’m not someone who was wedded to the “story” from the old attraction. Yes, the video was kind of kitchy and cute but it wasn’t the be all and end all of Disney attractions for me. But the story fit the ride.

I guess I don’t understand where they were trying to go with the overhaul. Obviously, they wanted to make the attraction look like Tron on the inside, which they totally accomplished. But it seems like they didn’t put much thought into the ride beyond that. The design-a-car aspect was just okay and a couple of people in our car said the cars they’d designed weren’t showing up as we went through the ride. I don’t know, the overhaul just didn’t click for me.

But I still love the outdoor part of the ride (especially at night!). So I’ll continue to go back.

Next, we took off for Mars.

You’d think they figure out how to land without crashing eventually. Haha.

We had one last task to complete in Future World before heading back to World Showcase for Illuminations and dinner. We’d gotten an email from my best friend saying that for her fiance’s birthday, she wanted to replace all the photos in their apartment with pictures of all their friends holding signs that said “Happy Birthday Dan.”

Mission accomplished. We’ll leave off there, but we have spectacular fireworks photos coming up and a yummy dinner at a new restaurant for us. In the meantime, what did the rest of you think about the Test Track redesign? Do you love it? Hate it? Kind of indifferent like me?

I can't comment on the new Test Track because it was still being closed down when I went last year but thanks for the update! It does look Tron-like and more futurist now. Does it still take on the same "course" in the old one? With testing indoors then the loop outside or did they change everything?

Also I love the pictures of the Luna pool! It is more colorful and fun looking than Stormalong Bay but that clown is CREEEEPYYY!:scared1:

OMG that pool looks sooooo wonderful. I wish I could afford to stay deluxe.. Maybe one of these days! :))

Love your pictures too, just beautiful. Especially the ones of Epcot!
