2013 Free Dining Watch

Hello, I was on the phone with disney about 45min for over an hour to add free dining and add an extra day to the reservations . I haven't received a confirmation email and my resort details have updated online for the extra day, but says nothing about dining... Should i call back? did the person i spoke to never add free dining like she said? She even said it was added! what do u think?

tinkerbell- that is the same for me. my resort is updated but nothing about the free dining. I am guessing it is all ok though because I spoke to dining reservations and they knew I had it

call them - ask if they can see it on your reservation. should be able to do that with minimal wait

yay finally have free dining and thankfully didn't spend a moment on the phone to get it, my Disney travel agent made the phone call this morning to switch it over to free dining and by booking through her, I get a $200 Disney gift card, luv it. Sept 23-Oct 6. Only strange part was pop century went up by $14 for the reservation. Its only about $0.50 per room per day but it actually worked for us because it took us over the $5500 mark we needed to go from a $150 gc to a $200 gc.

So excited!!! Woke up this morning and booked online at 645 central time with no problem! Sept 10 - 18 at pop century. The price did go up a few dollars with the free dining package, which was odd. We're going to celebrate my mom's birthday at MNSSHP on Friday the 13th! We've never celebrated a birthday there before so this will be really great! Thanks a million black and 411. So appreciate the heads up on this!

Free dining at it after 45 minute hold! Saved us 800 bucks almost! For those of you who had expressed interest in what the upgrade cost would be for standard two deluxe, I asked her agent to price it out for me. It ended up taking the total package price back to what it was at the rack rate for two adults!! Which is fine if price is not an option, but the whole point of going this time of year and making the effort to get the free dining is to save a little bit of money for us.

So I just checked again and if you book the room with the rack room rate it works out cheaper by about $0.50 a day, while the amount is minimal, its not exactly a free food plan if the price is higher with a free meal plan. I noticed it happened on pop century by not the all stars.

Never seen that before. Strange. Got to live that new WDW website. NOT!!!!

Just spoke with my TA at AAA...she was able to add the FD to our package...We have 2 rooms at POFQ!! I'm so excited...there are 7 of us, so it saves us over $2000! She was on hold for 2 hours and 6 minutes! So thankful!!

Could it be taxes? I believe there are resorts in different counties within WDW. Different counties could have different tax structures/rates, and also how room rates are affected by certain discounts or giveaways. I could see that causing a $0.50 discrepancy per day.

that could make sense with the difference between the resorts, but why would that affect the difference in the price for Pop century with and without the food plan? does the country charge a $0.50 a day tax to allow free food plan?

Oh now that you say that, I have read that before!

I don't know. It could be extra taxes on the room because there's a giveaway involved (though no discount); it could be a miniscule tax on the dining plan itself. And again, these could vary between counties. It's just speculation on my part, but it's about the only kind of thing I can imagine that would affect pricing by such a small amount.

I think all the parks and most of the resorts are in Orange County. The very southernmost portion of WDW land, though, and I think a few resorts (maybe only the All Stars), are in Osceola County. Osceola County, from what I can tell in a quick google maps lookup, has the Osceola Parkway along its northern border. The All Stars resorts are below that road, as is the ESPN Wide World of Sports. Everything else in WDW appears to be north of that road.

The hoops Walt and Roy went through to buy all that land, from all those separate owners, crossing county lines, while mostly keeping it secret until the announcement, is a feat that I can't imagine will ever be repeated.

No, you are right, its been a long time, but I have definitely read this before and would probably account for the minimal discrepancy.

it may just be speculation, but its speculation that makes more sense than anything I could come up with. I had forgotten about them being different and counties and having different taxes until you mentioned it. Either way I am happy, it upped my trip to $5507 from $5493 and I needed $5501+ to get the $200 gift card vs a $150 one.

For those of you concerned, I received "confirmations" right away on only three of my four rooms. 24 hours later, I received the actual Invoices and all four rooms were there. Would not call back unless you haven't heard by tomorrow afternoon.

Called three times and basically zero discount for nemo suites for me. it's okay. I look it as the time my family will there it will be so dead because everyone will be there earlier in the month. (I know it will still be busy just not as bad) and I got every single one of my ADRs that I wanted for my kids so that's another plus. There is always next year

Got my FD added and added PHOTOPASS + for ours and added all my clients as well was on hold for 54 min on TA line when I started dialing at 657!

ASMU/POR Dec 16-22, 2012 & POFQ Sept 8-15, 2013

I just want to add that they said I can change to a lion long or cars but my kids are already so excited for nemo I didn't want to ruin it for them. If they had no intention of adding the nemo they should have said that from the beginning. A family suite is a family suite to me and they are all the same price to so what's the big deal! Sorry I'm just venting now.
