May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I'm pretty sure you can prepay gratuities into next week sometime. I think my TA had told me up to 3 days before.

But you can always wait and do it on board as well. We did it that way last fall.

If you haven't prepaid before getting on the ship, they seem to add them onto your onboard account these days on a daily basis - It drives me mad - I don't want to prepay, I want to judge the service myself and tip accordingly, which I prefer to do in cash.

The last 3 cruises I have had to go to Guest Services and ask them to cancel the accruing tips.

You all are going to be sooo disappointed when you see me. I'm taking a pair of black dress pants with a few different shirts and about 5 daytime outfits. We will be sending our laundry out & you will be seeing me in the same clothes.

Like minded!:thumbsup2

I'm packing in a similar fashion. :) A few neutral staple pieces with some colorful tops to mix and match. I will be doing laundry too.

Great plan! I'll take you up on that! Maybe you'll forget how many ice cream cones I eat too he he he

I'll forget your ice cream cones as long as you pretend you don't see me making my afternoon chicken finger raids!! :rotfl:

mmmmmm chicken fingers xoxo
I love them!

I am re-packing. Carry on size bag but I will be checking it. I have been purging my closets for goodwill and I kept a few things for the cruise and I will discard them on the last day! If you like anything I am wearing you can inquire if its from the goodwill bag and you can have it - lol

I dread packing ... not quite sure how to pack for a 2 week cruise, then 8 days of a fairly rugged Ireland tour (surely there is an REI in Dublin?), then 10 days "exploring" either London, Scotland, Norway or Austria? Guess I'd better figure it out REALLY QUICK!

I can see the ease of touring in the UK after you've been in Ireland, but you'll need to book a flight or two if you decide on Austria or Norway. :teeth:

I had kind of a similar packing dilemma last May/June. My DH and I were in Rome and Florence for 6 days, followed by a 12-night Italy & Croatia cruise. When that ended, my DH went home, and I spent a week in Germany, followed by a 12-night Norway cruise to the Arctic Circle. I packed for Norway as I packed for Alaska - in layers. I also sent my little black dress home with my hubby for the second half of my trip.

Day one tip,

All of the talk of packing reminds me of a little tip. One of the first things I do is to take out the items needing pressed for formal night and hand them to the stateroom host. It's half the cost of washing and takes the hassle out of waiting for the iron on formal night. They are generally returned on the morning of formal night.

I will be enroute in the air 7 days today

I'll meet you at the ice cream machine daily..(sometimes 2 per day) ice cream is one of my weakness..no cone just ice cream in a cup from the drink station..

Me too..no dress, black pants and lots of tops..and I am definitely doing laundry and repeating clothes.

Like minded!:thumbsup2

FE - Team Goofy - I just made one cabin number change for Heather - we had two digits of her room number reversed so please check your link to that :)

It's pretty funny, because I never wear dresses "IRL". Because I am always on the floor with kids, I wear pants to work. We rarely go out to dinner at fancy places (save our money for vacations instead!), and there really isn't anywhere to wear formal gowns in Hawaii, so going on a cruise is pretty much the only time I wear them.

I will take notes and see how you girls do it!

Sounds like a date!!! I'm sure if you just stop by you'll see me there! I can't seem to walk by it without stopping, it just pulls me in! :rolleyes1

Sometimes it is so nice to dress up, especially when you wear casual clothes and uniforms for work. Enjoy!

The tips the ladies have on neutral bottoms and different tops really works. That was an idea that I borrowed from the DIS boards before my first cruise. Really helped cut down on what we brought.

Yeah, I did bring one pair of really nice pants and three different tops to wear with them. I am very stoked about that, but still couldn't drop the dresses haha. I do love to dress up sometimes.

We frequently travel with a lovely bunch of ladies and everyone has "crack" chicken fingers in the afternoon. It IS a long time between lunch and second seating.

Serious question, for those folks using a car service, what time did you tell them to pick you up?

Which car service are you using?

I think I'll call our hotel and have them arrange it. Last time we were in Barcelona, the Hilton made the arrangements for traveling to the airport.
