Kidani sounds wonderful! I ADORE AKL - I've decided for my next trip I'd like to try Kidani 1BDRM / even willing to give up CL if need be -- for that in room washer/dryer (I do a lot of laundry on my trips!) and a King sized bed! I'd like my daily housekeeping though ( its just a holiday thing!) so I'll have to book through CRO -- my other option is BWI Deluxe room. Hard decisions

I'm having a dilemma with my back neighbour now -

2 yrs ago they asked us if we'd want to cost share on a fence and we where in the middle of our 45K basement Reno, so we said no a fence isn't even in our thoughts or our budget. Well she went ahead and put up a $8,000 vinyl / albeit beautiful fence anyway, and I thought that was that! I'd never have bought such an expensive fence anyway! But I thought she was eating the cost because she wanted it then.

Fast forward to Friday afternoon, I'm at work, she catches DH at home and gives him an invoice for $900! For "our share" of the small piece at the back of us. That's our half of the $1800 that section cost and said they'd like us to pay our share as they are having another baby. Well -- my world has been turned upside down with the shooting, DH off work and his career up in the air. I'm paying so many things right now, I don't have $900 laying around (and if I did my Disney trip would be all set! ) - but that's besides the point. The thing I'm peeved about is I told her NO in Sept 2011 and she built it anyway.... Which is fine, but don't come to me for money 19 months later! I'm going to my town office tomorrow to see if I have any legal liability to pay, and if not, I am just going to have to find a way to tell her so sad, sorry but we can't help her.

Our finances are tight enough right now. DH wants to pay just to keep good neighbour relations, plus he's a nice guy -- he says pay her $150 a month for 3 months and its done. I pay the bills and he doesn't realize that I'm paying "just 150 a month" to about 4 other people, which adds up to a lot of money going out. I just can't take on owing another person money right now! I'm so upset I haven't been able to go talk to this woman yet.

I wish I could just send her a letter outlining the fact we said no already, and we have no legal obligation to cost share (at least I'm pretty sure we don't) and that we just can't afford it. I think she deserves me to tell her in person though, but my stomach is in knots thinking about ringing her doorbell! UGH!!!! Just what I need right now to deal with

Ugh, sorry Marie. Hopefully you don't have any legal obligation to pay. What a cruddy thing to do 19 months later.

We took the kids to see The Croods finally today. As the Disney previews come on, DH looks at me and says "you really love Disney, you are going to make me go there after the kids are grown aren't you" LMAO!! I said, just for food and wine so we can eat and drink and stumble back to YC...he said "okay, fine....but we need to go on rides too".

Miss- Want to come plant at my house when you're done? I still haven't replaced a tree we had to take out in 2009 and the front garden looks naked. Once I get in veggie garden mode, I forget about all other landscaping and it shows. Happy shrubbing!

And you weren't consulted about type of fence or cost, plus the fact you said no. I can't see how you'd be legally responsible. And not your problem they are having another baby, and short on money. Ugh. I wouldn't pay either, after you told her over a year ago you couldn't.

I can pick my sister's brain (she's a lawyer) if you want me to. Even though she doesn't deal with property law, she may remember something from law school.

I actually have gotten several loads of laundry done today. Hopefully, I will get more done tomorrow before I go to school. It's been so nice over this weekend, I would love to tell the inlaws to stay away longer.

oy, the DH is being a pain in the rear!! We only have 2 years, 1 month, and 27 days until our 20th wedding anniversary and he refuses to talk about what we're going to do. I'm thinking some kind of 8 - 9 day European guided tour, a Caribbean cruise out of Galveston, an Alaskan cruise, or a week at Disney's Aulani. I'm really leaning toward either the Euopean thing or Aulani. When I try to talk to the DH about it, he just says "we're going to Vegas".

Still no RC for this trip, but I do have another RA (Resort Addition)...

Added 3 more nights up front - Poly LV/CL. I know I've been on the fence about Poly for years now. We've stayed GV there twice - first time was great, second was not and we bailed after a few nights for CR. Fast forward to this weekend and DH thought it would be a "no risk" proposition to "get it out of our system" and add Poly up front instead of changing CR or WL - sounds perfect!

Hope this sticks so we actually experience the KKC once and for all. After booking, I read some Tripadvisor reviews that were, as usual for Poly, mixed. A recent guest said that they had bad ceiling leaks and bad mgt. and another guest reported that all of their belongings were stolen at the pool - bags, towels, KTTWC, everything and once again, mgt. was unhelpful, but the police did help. Whenever I read these sorts of reports about the Poly, I get cold Poly feet

Never have tried their CL so we've been curious about it. I've rationalized going sooner rather then later by telling myself that the room should be much fresher now with the rehab (but might not be next year) and who knows if they'll even renew the military discount, so if I'm going to give it one last try, this summer is it. DH joked that we'll have to pretend we're British since we're staying 15 nights.

Why does the weekend have to go so fast???

Marie I can't possibly see how you would be liable for any part of that fence. You have no contract with your neighbor, you had no input on it and you said no.

And, aren't there rules in your town about building fences??? In our town, if one neighbor builds a fence, it has to be a certain amount of distance off the other persons property....so if that's the case, the fence is probably not even on you property...and if it is, you should file a complaint against her if it comes down to it. I think it sounds like they are just strapped for money and seeing where they can make up the shortfall. Good luck with that!!

Yipee! I got our flights booked for November! Jetblue going down Nov 13 and Southwest coming home on Nov 23! Good times, arriving 11 am in Orlando, and early afternoon Buffalo on the way home. Prices I can live with , but still at least $1000 less than flying from Toronto!

Final resort change! After 8 changes, Free Dining has confirmed that we will be at CR..$800 less than BC...they only allow FD on laguna view or higher there, snagged a standard view at CR! So excited to go! Good luck everyone!

I totaly get the housekeeping thing. If I was going to stay for longer then 3 nights I'd want it too!

I am so sorry your neighbors are doing this to you. I cannot imagine they have a leg to stand on. If they had really thought there was an agreement to pay, why wait so long to ask for payment? Sounds like a money grub to me. Boo! I hope you can get it resolved quickly and painlessly.

I hope it sticks too.. The lagoon side of Hawaii is so beautiful! If you don't mind first floor, the LV rooms right off the concierge area (1501-1504) have views that are just as good as the TPV rooms.

Thanks for the info, as I didn't know they would have the restriction on the BC. We are currently booked there, and it'll mean having a nice long talk with the DH about either upgrading from a GV or.....well how we are going to upgrade. The DSs are attached to SAB and the DH is insisting on getting FD.

Ahhhhhh, I have such fond memories of DH and my trips before kids...We had 3 trips together (including our Honeymoon) before they came along....since they are 9 and 6, we've got awhile before we can reclaim it for ourselves again....

Marie- I'm so sorry, when it rains it pours. I would not be happy at all in that happened to me- good thing our back neighbor is a road . Although I did have someone ask me to put shrubs in front of our huge propane tank for the the pool. We can't see it because its behind the pool fence accessible from the road behind. It's in the woods and is no so overgrown we have to clear a path for the propane guys

We've had no Disney trips before kids- poor grad students When we lived in MI , it was trips to Canada- much easier back in the day. When we lived in MN it was west to Yellowstone. I would go to conferences with my DH if he had a poster to present...I could really stretch that per diem

Marie as I read your post my temper was flaring, the nerve of some people you told her No already and unless she is deaf, dumb, and blind she surely knows about your DH's injury and being out of work. Your DH sounds like mine with keeping the peace with the neighbors but I would not pay a nickel towards the fence circumstances being as they are. (((Hugs)))

Maybe I can be a Brit too since we are 14 nights congrats on Poly, and you'll get to see the new rooms. Theyve done a total refurb so no worries about leaks.
I've read reports of bags being stollen at WL too, remember the one with the iPhone in the bag, and the guy was able to track it to being on the boat to MK, and security was able to get the thief?
Also at other resorts. Sad, so now I only bring sunscreen and a book down to the pool, and wear one of those waterproof boxes around my neck with my kttw card in it and some cash for snacks.

Congrats! We fly thru Seattle for the same reason, half of what it cost flying from Vancouver! I have my flights for January, $317 RT!! Woohoo!

I actually went ahead and bought our return flight Tickets this am as I just keep thinking about them going up not down since it is the last flight of the day. So $134 down and $251 back averages out to $192.50 each way not too bad and our flight home could drop in price in which case we can get a credit to use at a later date. How is that for logic

Wanted to say "Thanks!" for all the BOG advice. It sounds like, with a dinner reservation at 4:10pm, we won't be taking too much time away from the party since it doesn't really start until 7pm anyway.

Marie: The NERVE! I'm sorry you're having to deal with such idiocy.

I_Heart: Sure thing! Shrubs are my outdoor buddies. (Whether they stay alive or not after I plant them is another matter entirely. ) I love your newest resort addition!

Kook: Sweet add! Lapu Lapus here you come. (Admittedly, I kinda preferred our GV room over the GV-CL one -- it was much quieter. Mind you, that was well before the reno. )

Did anyone make use of the 40% off Disneystore yesterday? I couldn't resist the Disney Theme Park Edition Scrabble (and some Skellington PJs ... and a new water bottle ... and and and)
