DVC Occupancy Thread Part 2

And I don't put 6 adults or 5 adults + 1 infant. I put 2 adults, 4 kids since that's my situation and the only situation I ever ask/say other folks to try it. I've never said 6 adults or 5 adults + 1 infant to begin with.
I was curious and tried it myself. I tried both "2 adults, 4 kids" (with one listed as an infant) and I tried "5 adults, 1 infant". Both of them worked. I did not get the error message about the room type being too small for the travel party. I could have booked any of the following for 5 adults and 1 infant: BCV, BWV, AKV (every booking category except the Value 1BR), OKW, VWL and SSR.

ETA: I stopped at the point where it showed me the room availability. I did not select a resort and proceed to the next stage of booking. It's possible I would have gotten an error message further along in the process. However, if I put in 5 adults and a child age 3 or older, I got an error message about the room type not being able to accommodate the travel party. I suspect that is the only place the check is being done. I probably could have booked the room for 5 adults and an infant if I had continued with the reservation process.

I was always under the impression that that was the case, but some here said I was incorrect and since it doesn't apply to me, I never looked into it. If we (DVC) are legitimately allowed 5 I truly take that to mean 5+1 infant just like the Disney rooms that permit 4 are really 4+1. I never thought it made sense that they would treat DVC differently (and "worse" if you want to see it that way) than the rest of the resort.

We are looking at buying DVC with BLT as our home resort. We are a family of 5; 2adults, 8yo, and 3 month old twins. Which resorts will allow a family of 5 in a 1 bedroom once my twins are over 3. Thanks!

According to the current DVC point charts, it is BLT. Both AKV and OKW 1 BR point charts state all sleep 4, most sleep 5. I didn't check the non-WDW DVC resorts.

I think that some of the posts here may reflect what an original ownership contract may have stated, or the way point charts used to read.

If you book a 1br at AKV with 5 guests listed, they'll only put you in a room that has a sleeper chair. The value 1br only sleeps 4. The standard view & Savannah view sleep 5.

Hi all.

I know when you book a 1 bedroom villa through Disney the room capacity is 4, plus 1 child under 3. However, as a DVC member (or when renting points) they've always allowed us 5 in a room. Would they allow us 6 in a room if we provide the bedding?

I suspect this will be closed soon since room occupancy discussions are only allowed on the designated thread. I 'think' the answer is that you are allowed 5 plus 1 under the age of 3. If you are allowed that number of people, I don't believe that you would have to provide your own bedding but I think it depends on the resort and whether there are enough beds for everyone.

You might be as well to post your question there :)

I have heard that DVC is lenient with members as long as they provide their own bedding. If we wanted to do so (we're renting points), could we do 3 adults and 3 children in a 1 bedroom villa at Beach Club.

Sorry - My apologies. I did not realize occupancy questions were reserved for another thread. I'll ask the question over there.

Thank you.:)

No. They are not that lenient. BCV is our home resort. Up to 5 is limit in the 1 bedroom. You will need to get a 2 bedroom or 2 studios with 6 people.

Unless 1 of those children is under 3 years old. I believe they will allow 3 adults and 3 children in a 1 bedroom IF one of the children is 2 years and under.

We are a family of 5 and at this point they will allow 5 people to stay in all the 1 bedroom units except the 1 bedroom value at AKV Jambo. BUT only the 1 bedrooms at OKW, BLT and AKV (other than the value unit 1 bedroom) have a sleeper chair and provide actual bed/bedding/towels for the 5th person. All the other 1 bedrooms will allow a 5th person but do not provide the bed or linens for the 5th person. BLT and Kidani 1 bedrooms also have a 2nd full bathroom which is nice to have for families of 5 with older kids.

Not in the villas that only sleep four officially. They can have five aged three and older or four plus one under the age of three. Not five aged three and older and one under the age of three. And definitely not six aged three and older.

AKV (not value villas), OKW and BLT can have five plus one under the age of three.

This has been debated ad infinitum - and I really don't want to debate it.

What I DO know, is right now (it can change in the future), if you book online, any of the DVC 1 BR (except value), will allow 5 people + 1 infant in. Yes, that includes BVW and BCV.

We have a group of 14 (two toddlers). We have two THVs but now thinking about getting a Grand Villa. Will DVC allow 14 in a GV when two are young?

Both will be 3 at the time of the vacation. The other issue is that we may need to take Magical Express from airport. Leaving the toddler off may affect that?

Comfort will not be an issue since we should easily be able to fit 14 is a GV.

With 14 people all 3 and older, you need to stick with two THVs. They only allow going over for children under 3, and I'm pretty sure that's only for one child. It's more fire codes and safety than comfort.

You could do a GV and a studio.
