So, is anyone planning on going to Elliot Dyson's last night at Scat Cat's Club tonight? I really do hope this is only "au revoir" rather than goodbye, and that Disney do the right thing and bring him back after the lobby refurb.

Andre

I'm curious as you're all discussing this gentleman leaving the Scat Cat Club. Does that mean after the lobby refurb there will be no form of entertainment there? Was he the sole entertainer, I guess is what I'm asking.

You were probably just speaking to a CM in the main WDW incoming call center, not anyone at POFQ.

POFQ and POR both do a number of special activities for Halloween, mostly during the daytime but they do theme the campfires and outdoor movies to Halloween in the evening. See the archived schedules at www.portorleans.org/recreation-activites-schedule.php for an idea of what they did last year.

However, the Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom is wonderful, with a great parade and fireworks show and lots to see and do. I'd highly recommend going at least once if you can, although I'd suggest maybe avoiding the one on the 31st October itself as that day will be packed - choose one a little earlier if you can (early week days are usually slightly quieter).

Andre

We are looking to go to the Halloween party on either the 27th or the 29th of October. We'll buy our tickets once we get closer to our date or when we get to our resort. I was just wondering if the resorts were doing anything special on Halloween night. Thank you for the link. At least I know they do something on Halloween night. We'll either stay at the resort or go to one of the other parks that night. But at least I have an idea. :)

Hi, Everyone! I'm getting more and more excited about my first stay at POFQ as each day passes!

I'm looking at the menus for Sassagoula Floatworks. I see some items are only served for dinner. At what time is it officially dinner time there? Thanks!:goodvibes

The parties typically sell out closer to Halloween, I'd recommend buying your tickets earlier if you plan on attending!

It'd be easier if I could throw my tickets into my reservation instead of paying the $300 up front. But I think we'll be ordering them long before we leave anyway. I just didn't want to have a wash out night for a party. So I figured if I waited until we got closer, I could watch the weather.

While we were at POFQ in mid-April, the laundry area was revamped with new washers and dryers and a new payment method. You must pay with a credit or debit card, your KTTW card will not work and cash will not work. So here's the new set up:

Device that scans your card:

Directions for using the scanner:

Washers:

Regular wash was $2.00 and super wash was $2.25.

The detergent tray:

Dryers:

You can pick different times and prices. I think 60 minutes was $2.00.

Thanks for the update - so it's basically an off-the-shelf commercial laundry solution (hence no KttW cards). Still, it's a got to be good deal less prone to vandalism and outright theft than the old cash-based system was. Could you buy detergent/softener/etc the same way, or did those machines still require coins?

Would you mind if I borrowed your information and pictures for portorleans.org?

I'd agree with this. Most likely those dates will sell out before the parties. If you wait until you arrive at the resort, you may be out of luck.

The new washers and stuff looks good, but I don't really like it. If we can only pay with credit/debit cards then it'll be expensive for us international travellers as they'll add fees on top of that :worried:

Maybe you could get a prepaid visa?

Maybe. We did that last trip, and it was great that we didn't have too much cash on us. Only downside is that the website was slow updating the balance, so when we thought we'd spent what we had on the card, we still had money left when we came home.

I just got the best news ever from our T.A.:

:cool1::thumbsup2:goodvibes:cheer2::dance3::cheer2::thumbsup2:cool1:

All our ADRs are done!, :cool1::cool1::cool1:
including "Be Our Gest", Cindy's Royal Table and Akershus, Tusker House, Boma, Hollywood & Vine, 1900 Park Fare and 'Ohana. (Not decided for another one yet.)

We got our tickets :dance3:
for the MNSSHP (last day) on Nov. 1st and MVMCP (first day) on Nov. 8, just before we leave for our 7 days Western Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes Talk about a Happy Day! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

:dance3: Oh, and it makes it 180 days before our visit!!! :dance3:

:tinker: Poussière de fée!

This would not be a cash advance, it would be a payment like for anything else you buy over there, so there shouldn't be any fees. I assume you have a zero commission credit card for international use, yes? If so, you'll get the 'clean' inter-bank currency rate, which is better than any cash or traveller's cheque rate. And if not, I really do suggest you get one (e.g. the Halifax Clarity card, or the Post Office's version - no fees and a perfect exchange rate, it's a no-brainer really).

Andre

I don't own a credit card I'm afraid. I don't think I can get one yet either, as I haven't lived in UK very long. I think some of them requires you to provide a UK adress for 5 years if I'm not mistaken. If push comes to shove, I might get my fiance to get one though. We'll see.

I wonder if you rent a car while you're here and go to Walmart and go to bill paying center there and pick up a Walmart money card. Basically it's card u can buy for like $4.00 and you have to load at least $20.00 or more on it and the money is available right then. You just use it like a Visa card. No fees to buy things. Would be great for ur vacation. ;)

Yep, you can borrow the info and pics. I took them just for you. :goodvibes I brought my own detergent and softener so I did not even think to look at the machine that sold those items.

I was asked why I was taking pictures of everything and I said, "Well, some people on Disney forums will want to know about this." They had no clue what a Disney forum is. Must be terrible to live such a sheltered life. :rotfl2:
